A nice looking shot from Emma Lamb.

I wonder if the Trent Rockets bowlers can commit a bit more to hitting the pitch as the full tosses are being put away fairly easily.

  2. Phoenix 32-1published at 25 balls

    And repeat.

Emma Lamb ends the powerplay in style, though with some very generous bowling from Alexa Stonehouse.

Another full toss is flayed for four, followed by a short ball which Lamb pulls firmly for the same result.

  3. Phoenix 21-1published at 20 balls

But the surface doesn't matter if you bowl there.

A low full toss from McCarthy and helped on its way to the boundary by Perry, as easy as you like.

  4. Phoenix 15-1published at 15 balls

Lovely start from Cassidy McCarthy, who has Ellyse Perry swinging and missing outside the off stump.

It looks like a tricky surface for batting - you know that's the case when Perry can't time the ball, anyway.

A mixed bag from Alexa Stonehouse, but she got the wicket that Trent Rockets wanted.

  6. Phoenix 12-1published at 10 balls

That wickets brings the in-form Ellyse Perry in early, off the back of consecutive half-centuries.

She wastes no time in getting going, whipping the ball effortlessly through mid-wicket for four.

Alexa Stonehouse used the natural angle going across the batter and Georgia Voll ended up skying it.

If you commit to that natural angle rather than swinging it back in, the field needs to change to protect that boundary option.

Another disappointment - Georgia Voll's first Hundred stint ends in underwhelming fashion.

Alexa Stonehouse is backed to bowl 10 in a row and delivers, drawing a false shot from Voll which flies high in the air but is safely pouched by Bryony Smith at point.

Birmingham Phoenix openers have averaged just 16.5 so far this season, the lowest in the competition. First round draft pick Georgia Voll has disappointed, with a top score of 29 in her seven innings before today.

  10. Phoenix 6-0published at 5 balls

Same ball, same shot but half-stopped at point and the batters scamper through for a couple.

The pitch looks quite slow, with keeper Ellie Threlkeld standing up to the stumps to the pace bowlers already.

Quality cricket from Georgia Voll. That was the shot that she was trying to play for that whole set and finally she got it away.

    A world-class looking shot.

  12. Phoenix 4-0published at 3 balls

Short, wide and cut away for four.

A gift for Georgia Voll to get off the mark.

Emma Lamb and Georgia Voll will most likely be going head-to-head for England and Australia in next month's World Cup but for now, they've got one last job to do together for Birmingham Phoenix.

The promising left arm seamer Alexa Stonehouse has the ball in hand for the home side.

Birmingham Phoenix captain Ellyse Perry has been their in-form player with the bat, and opts to set a target for the Rockets to chase.

There was some rain around this morning but it now looks bright with a bit of a breeze at Trent Bridge this afternoon, so there shouldn't be any interruptions.
