  1. Five wickets for Jack Carsonpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 309-9 v Sussex 189

Ben Coad attempts a paddle shot and is bowled behind his legs by Jack Carson, who completes the fourth five-for of his career.

The new-ball is due at the end of this over, but with number 11 Dan Moriarty at the crease, will Sussex bother?

  2. Third innings commences at Edgbastonpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwicks 337 & 5-0 v Somerset 239

Josh Davey starts with a maiden to Rob Yates, then Craig Overton's first delivery is hit for one by Alex Davies.

Yates then hammers it for four through point.

The home side may want more than a 413 lead from this coming innings based upon the last match between these two sides...

  3. wicket

WICKET Stone b Parkinson 18published at 17:54 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 197-8

Attempted sweep is missed and he is bowled.

Olly Stone had those remarkable innings of 83 and 63 at Trent Bridge against Somerset back in June, he does not get near either score today.

8.4 overs remaining which should not take too long if the left-arm twirler keeps working from one end.

Durham will fancy getting Notts all out at least first time around tonight.

  4. wicket

WICKET: Fernandes c Gay b Leech 21published at 17:52 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx 201-5 v Northants 207

    Northants have a breakthrough!

And it's a first wicket for Dom Leech for his new county.

Nathan Fernandes drives hard at a full ball just outside off and edges to second slip.

A bonus for Northants with six overs until the second new ball.

Can they keep themselves in the game?

  5. 100 runs

for Jordan Coxpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 310-3

A "wow" innings from Jordan Cox.

He's spent the last month bashing runs in The Hundred - he was the fifth-leading scorer - and that form has transferred to the red ball.

Just the 92 balls for this century - his fourth of the campaign - and it has been master class of destroying the old ball and respecting the new.

He might have been left out by England this week, but the honour will surely be his very soon.

  6. 200 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx 200-4 v Northants 207

Leus du Plooy is now onto 45 and with Nathan Fernandes, 21, has put Middlesex back in a very strong position at Marchant Taylor's School.

They're about to take the lead and have plenty in the shed to try and build a big advantage.

There's still plenty of cricket to come tonight with another 18 overs left.

  7. wicket

WICKET Revis c Clark b Robinson 34published at 17:46 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 294-8 v Sussex 189

Matthew Revis launches Jack Carson down the ground for six but departs in the next over as Ollie Robinson induces the edge and Tom Clark takes a low catch at second slip.

Just six more needed by Yorkshire for a second batting point, though.

  8. Division Two updatepublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 23 August

Glamorgan have begun their second innings with Billy Root and Ben Kellaway at the crease. They are 13-0 in the third over, requiring another 248 to make Derbyshire bat again.

Leicestershire have slowed the scoring rate at Bristol, where Gloucestershire are 184-2, still 218 in arrears, with Ben Charlesworth 77 not out.

  9. wicket

WICKET Aldridge c Bethell b Barnard 84published at 17:43 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwicks 337 v Somerset 239

Ed Barnard does get his five wicket haul. 5-54 off 16.1.

The King of the One-day Cup eclipsing his main rival to that title, Andy Umeed, convincingly again, this time with red ball in hand.

A lead of 98 for Warwickshire, but Somerset won after an even bigger first innings deficit at the start of July do not forget!

Some innings from Aldridge again, who like for the England Lions last week, batting in the bottom half of the innings runs out of partners and perishes trying to make quick runs before his number eleven gets himself out again.

But still no bonus batting points for Somerset again.

  10. 400 up for Surreypublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 404-6 v Lancs 204

Lancashire have managed to wedge a couple out but while Rory Burns is still there, they are being batted out of the game.

A fourth batting point is raised and the lead is now 200.

Only six overs to go in bonus point territory so a fifth point is looking unlikely.

  11. WICKET Elgar c Dawson b Abbott 136published at 17:41 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 305-3

A tame way to end a superb innings.

Dean Elgar chips Kyle Abbott to Liam Dawson at mid off. At first it looked like a bump ball, especially with the lack of celebration.

But Abbott has his former South Africa Test team-mate.

  12. wicket

WICKET Bell-Drummond lbw Finch 5published at 17:40 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 447 v Kent 171 & 64-2

    Oh dear.

Daniel Bell-Drummond plays no shot to a ball from Adam Finch that cuts back and hits the top of off stump.

Tawanda Muyeyey is having fun at the other end but there's not much else for Kent to smile about in this situation.

There are another 13 overs to come today after the conclusion of this one.

  13. Aldridge the one man band stillpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwicks 337 v Somerset 239-9

Carnage at Edgbaston, Kasey Aldridge is of course trying to manipulate the strike.

What he thinks is the last ball of the 65th over almost beats Ed Barnard at deep third for four, he walks a single to keep the strike looking at the umpire all the time, as the ball pitches right on the edge of the strip.

It is then given as a no ball so Jake Ball has to face his 11th ball of the innings, he keeps it out.

Aldridge is 84* off 138 balls as Michael Rae, still wicketless keeps bowling.

  14. 50 runs

for Tawanda Muyeyepublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 447 v Kent 171 & 56-1

James Hartshorn starts a new over and Tawanda Muyeye fetches his first ball from outside off stump and deposits it over mid-on for a single-bounce four.

He puts the next away through the off side to reach 50 off 45 balls - his second of the game - and two more boundaries follow as the over costs the New Zealander 16.

  15. Postpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 286-7 v Sussex 189

Yorkshire are close to a three-figure lead - Sussex are only a few overs away from the new ball.

Should be an interesting min-session to end the day at Scarborough.

Matthew Revis is 28 not out and Jordan Thompson has 23.

  16. Postpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 447 v Kent 171 & 48-1

Adam Finch comes into the attack for Worcestershire and whistles one past the outside edge of Tawanda Muyeye's bat.

He ends the over with an lbw appeal against Daniel Bell-Drummond, but the umpire says no.

    Good start by Finch.

  17. wicket

WICKET: Sudharsan c Jennings b Aspinwall 6published at 17:35 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 393-6 v Lancs 204

Tom Aspinwall gets his third wicket.

The left-handed Sai Sudharsan looks to cut a ball from round the wicket that's too close to him and he slashes it to second slip where Keaton Jennings takes a comfortable catch at chest height.

  18. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 304-2

Jordan Cox can't deal with some extra bounce from the second new ball and edges to first slip.

It's a regulation catch at head height but Tom Prest spills it and Cox has a life on 92.

This is turning into a horror day for Hampshire.

  19. new ball

New ball taken by Hampshirepublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 298-2

Hampshire have been desperate for this moment for about 60 overs.

But it has only been another milestone over for Essex with 300 runs (and the bonus point that comes with that) and the 150 stand between Dean Elgar and Jordan Cox arriving.

What a knock from the Surrey captain!

The second double hundred of his career.

He pulls George Balderson to the midwicket fence to go to 196 and after a pair of singles another pull for two gets him to 200.

    27 fours and a six.

What an afternoon to do it in splendid sunshine and with a good crowd in.

He's put his side in complete command here at The Oval.
