  1. Sco 29-0published at 6 overs

Scotland nurdle four from Sophie Ecclestone's next over, but there's an alarm when Charlie Dean's throw from mid off just misses the stumps with Bryce some way short of her ground.

That aside, Scotland have had a good powerplay and they should be happy with this start.

Scotland are moving their feet and being positive. England have started well, but Sarah Bryce has dealt with anything thrown at her in these first few overs and she's got the rewards for it.

I can understand why Scotland decided to bat first, but I'm still a little surprised by the decision when you factor in England's desire to improve net run rate. England batting first with pressure to score big could have played in Scotland's favour. We will never know...

That is the best shot of the day so far! That's a really good piece of cricket from Sarah Bryce, the accuracy to get it past those fielders was impressive.

  5. Sco 22-0published at 4.4 overs

    Shot!

Charlie Dean tosses it up but Sarah Bryce absolutely nails it past cover point for her third boundary.

We haven't seen this much from Heather Knight, usually Sophie Ecclestone is kept further in the middle. Often Heather's captaincy is quite formulaic but four bowlers in four overs is quite unusual.

  7. Sco 16-0published at 4 overs

Sophie Ecclestone is into the attack, tossing the ball up from the outset. Charlie Dean at mid-off tries a shy at the stumps but Bryce is comfortably home as the throw flies past the stumps.

England are absolutely racing through their overs, always nice to see.

  8. Sco 14-0published at 3 overs

Charlie Dean's loopy spin replaces Nat Sciver-Brunt for the third over, and yet again Sarah Bryce finds the rope at third, coming down the track to drive but edging the ball past the keeper to prompt a head-in-hands moment from the bowler.

  9. Sco 6-0published at 1.3 overs

Having recovered from that slide in the outfield, Lauren Bell takes the second over but sends her first a way down leg but it's not called as a wide. She then flings out a foot to Horley's straight drive, but can't stop the opener taking a single

The outfield does seem to have quickened up slightly; the wicket seems to be getting better the more games that have been played on it. So hopefully, we should see a few more boundaries today.

  11. Sco 5-0published at 1 over

Saskia Horley guides the third delivery away to third for the first run in a T20 between these two countries.

And it's Sarah Bryce who gets the first boundary, slicing the last ball of the over to the rope at third, Lauren Bell's despairing slide isn't quite enough.

  12. Sco 0-0published at 0.1 overs

It's on the pads and Saskia Horley pats it out to mid-wicket.

OK, openers Saskia Horley and Sarah Bryce are out in the middle and Nat Sciver-Brunt is limbering up to send down the first ball to Horley.

One factor that could be in England's favour is that they have had nearly a week off - their last outing was the seven wicket win over South Africa in Sharjah last Monday.

In the build up to today, Heather Knight has said that the days off have involved golf and coffee, presumably not at the same time.

After today, they are back in action in two days against West Indies in Dubai.

The teams are out in the broiling sun for the anthems - it's 'Flower of Scotland' first, for the final time at this tournament, followed by 'God save the King'.

There's a decent turnout in the stands, and wisely everyone's hunkered down in the shade.

Group B table: 1. South Africa 2. West Indies 3. England 4. Bangladesh 5. ScotlandImage source, BBC Sport

As the only unbeaten team in Group B, Englandwill qualify for the semi-finals as group winners if they win both of their remaining matches.

Heather Knight's side could advance with one win and one defeat, but West Indies and South Africa both currently have a superior net run-rate.

So England will be looking for a comprehensive victory over Scotland to boost their net run-rate before a decisive final group game against West Indies that could result in the loser being eliminated.

If England lose to Scotland they will still go through if they beat West Indies, but might then qualify as runners-up and therefore likely draw Australia in the semis.

Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce: "We’re looking forward to getting out there and putting some pressure on.

"It’s been different conditions to get used to, the slow outfield and variety in the pitches. It means you have to deal with an expansive game and it’s about having the technique to be able to deal with that.

"We are excited to play against one of the best teams in the world. It will be a big contest and we’ll be trying to put some pressure on and see what happens."

England captain Heather Knight: "We would have batted as well. We are desperate to get going after a nice few days off, it will be nice to refocus ahead of what will be a very big week. First and foremost we want to win, you have to earn that opportunity (to advance to the semis) by playing well."
