That was a spectacular shot from Kaleem Sana. It was flat and flew with a lot of pace on the ball.

  2. 6 runs

    Can 103-7published at 19.3 overs

    They can get to 100!

It is a brilliant cut shot from Kaleem Sana that powers over backward point and into the stands.

A psychological barrier has been broken.

An awful lot of swinging around and not a lot of connection for Canada.

  4. Can 96-7published at 19 overs

Dilon Heyliger again shows aggressive intent as he goes to pull a short ball from Mohammad Amir and the ball flashes off the edge and through fine leg for four.

Amir responds with a real toe-crusher that somehow escapes through to Rizwan.

One over left - can Canada get to three figures?

This is the first time we are using this wicket - pitch three - so it's tricky to know what a good score on it is.

However, you sense if Canada can somehow get themselves up to 110-120 mark they will fancy their chances of an upset.

They are running out of batters, though.

This is how Aaron Johnson reached his 50. A brilliant knock that included four fours and four sixes.

  7. Can 91-7published at 18 overs

You sense Canada are prepared to go down swinging here.

Dilon Heyliger and Kaleem Sana look to be aggressive against Shaheen Shah Afridi, but it is easier said than done against such a classy bowler.

Just the three singles from the over.

That's really good bowling that the batter was not expecting. Angling it into the front shoulder that proves difficult to play.

Pakistan are normally very accurate and skilful with those slow balls.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.5 overs

    Saad Zafar c Rizwan b Amir 10 (Can 87-7)

    Another one goes.

Saad Bin Zafar got away with a leading edge that landed safely earlier in the over, but not this time. It is an attempted pull shot that is top-edged into the air and Mohammad Rizwan sprints towards the short third region to take a smart catch.

A trio of members of the Tanoli family - the youngest three - are attending a cricket match for the very first time.

They have travelled over from Washington DC for today's game in New York.

"Tickets were impossible to get for India v Pakstan, but we didn't want to miss out on seeing a World Cup game in the US," they tell me.

Haris Rauf bowls a mean yorker at some serious pace.

  12. Can 85-6published at 16 overs

    That will help.

A full toss from Haris Rauf is whipped away by Saad Bin Zafar through the covers. Fakhar Zaman makes a gallant attempt to cut it off, but the ball trundles over the rope anyway.

A lot of effort for no reward.

Pakistan fans in the standsImage source, BBC Sport

There's not as many Pakistan fans in the ground today as there were supporters from Bangladesh yesterday, but they are still making plenty of noise.

It's amazing how quick Imad Wasim gets through his overs, he's very savvy with his angles. You don't have time to think as a batter.

Canada don't often get the chance to play against quality bowlers and test themselves like this.

  15. Can 77-6published at 15 overs

Kaleem Sana joins skipper Saad Bin Zafar in the middle. Canada's first job will be to try and get through the 20 overs.

The Pakistan players, who looked under so much pressure at the start of the innings, seem a little more relaxed in the field now.

Aaron Johnson is one of Canada's key players. One of the few that is capable of hitting those big boundaries. That's a big loss for the Associate nation with six overs remaining.

    Alex Hartley

Aaron Johnson was getting too predictable and you just know as a bowler you need to mix things up a little bit. That is a game changing moment for Pakistan.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.3 overs

    Johnson b Nassem 52 (Can 73-6)

That is out. Very, very out.

It is you miss, I hit from Naseem Shah as Aaron Johnson backs away and tries to club the ball into the off-side, but the ball keeps a little low, escapes under the bat and smashes into leg stump.

A fine innings comes to an end and Canada's hopes of getting up to a competitive total suffer a real blow.

One wonderful aspect of the cricket fan culture of those who support South Asian teams is the homespun signs they bring to matches.

They can reflect the sacrifice the fans themselves make, show their loyalty to an individual player, lament a predicament, or simply devotion to the team.

Here's a few which caught my eye up in the stands.

That was timed beautifully. You just know he's going to try something and he almost punches it off one foot. He is such a powerful batter.
