Glamorgan’s James Harris reached the landmark figure of 600 first-class wickets when he trapped Jonny Bairstow lbw as Yorkshire lost four wickets in the first hour in Cardiff.

The 34-year-old, who spent nine seasons with Middlesex and is his ninth with Glamorgan, is playing the 185th red-ball match of a career which saw him on the fringe of England honours for several years.

All four victims in the current innings have been leg-before as the hosts made the most of overcast conditions early on, with Harris also getting rid of Finlay Bean (57) and James Wharton while Andy Gorvin bowled night-watchman Matthew Fisher.

But Yorkshire are still in control of the match as their lead has passed 300 - and if they are bowled out, it will give them more time to dismiss Glamorgan to keep up their promotion challenge.

Surrey are making quick work of things this morning.

Here's their fifth wicket as Sam Curran swings one back into Ollie Robinson, who shouldered arms and lost his off stump.

Durham desperately need a partnership. They're sliding to an innings defeat at the moment.

But batting still to come after two nightwatchmen were used.

  3. wicket

WICKET Morley c Higgins b Hollman 0published at 11:56 British Summer Time 19 September

    Middlesex are almost there.

Luke Hollman claims his second success in Derbyshire's second innings as Jack Morley departs.

WICKET Middleton c Simpson b Crocombe 23published at 11:56 British Summer Time 19 September

    Glos 109 & 189-7 v Sussex 311

Gloucestershire had been rebuilding somewhat after losing three early wickets but the budding partnership between Ed Middleton and Tom Price has now ended.

Middleton edges behind from Henry Crocombe's delivery and is gone for a resolute 23 from 65 balls.

Zafar Gohar worked wonders with the ball yesterday - picking up his 300th first-class wicket with a haul of 6-76 - but now his team need to him to do something with the bat.

Glos trail by 11 runs with three wickets in hand.

Five in the innings, 10 in the match and 51 for the season for Middlesex's Toby Roland-Jones as young Harry Moore edges to the keeper and is out for seven.

What a brilliant servant TRJ has been for his club - and he's still one of the best bowlers around the county circuit.

    Glam 239 v Yorks 361 & 168-6

Timm van der Gugten gets another and George Hill is furious with himself, trying to leave a nip-backer and dragging it on to his stumps.

    Hampshire 462 & 67-4 v Worcs 273

That's the Pears bowler's first scalp of the second innings and he got a five-wicket haul in the first.

  9. Durham slump at The Ovalpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 19 September

    Surrey 415 v Durham 262 & 68-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham could be heading for an innings defeat on day three at The Oval. I had a feeling before the day began that things would not go well. Sadly it has played out that way.

The first three batsmen got ducks, albeit two of them were night watchmen. But the other was Ben McKinney, who normally opens. He was one of three victims to fall to Dan Worrall in his first two overs.

Meanwhile, Alex Lees was bowled by Jordan Clark for four, at the end of the 10th over to leave Durham reeling on 18-4.

David Bedingham and debutant Emilio Gay then added 40 for the fifth wicket, but Bedingham fell to a snorter from Sam Curran when on 23. It was at the end of the bowler's first over. It pitched on a length and took off. Bedingham couldn't get out of the way and gloved it behind.

    Take a bow James Harris.

The fourth wicket in this second innings has brought up a major milestone for the 34-year-old and fitting he has hit 600 with Glamorgan.

After starting out here in 2007, making his debut as a 17-year-old, he spent five seasons in Cardiff before departing for greener pastures.

Ten years later and a couple of loan spells he returned in 2022 and makes the 600 wicket mark with an average of just a fraction over 30.

Another big blow for Surrey as David Bedingham edges Sam Curran behind.

It bounced on him a fraction just outside off and Bedingham couldn't get out of the way in time.

Surrey on the march this morning.

    Lancs 140 & 334-7 v Somerset 146

An hour's play gone at Old Trafford and Somerset have yet to take their first wicket of the day.

    Hampshire 462 & 48-3 v Worcs 273

    Joe Leach is on fire!

It's an interesting dismissal, the kind you need to look at a few times to actually see what happened.

Leach pitches it quite wide and Nick Gubbins edges as he attempts a cover drive but the ball then balloons up off Gareth Roderick's wicket-keeping gloves and Rob Jones steps in from slip to take the catch.

The ball seemed to stay in the sky for an age!

Leach has 3-15 from seven overs and has stopped Gubbins well short of repeating his 201 not out in the first innings.

It was only a change of ends for Lewis Gregory.

But he is fractionally short of length and Luke Wells pulls it over backward square for six.

He is 97 not out - what an innings for his team.
