Summary

  1. Aus 36-0published at 7 overs

That boundary in the previous over hasn't really done much to settle down Phoebe Litchfield, who looks like she could get out at any moment here.

Lauren Bell beats a defensive prod with a beauty, which prompts an appeal. The Aussie left-hander then gets away with an inside edge.

England seem to be a bit louder, at the end of the day it's 11 vs 2 so they need to get into their heads. They could do with breaking this partnership.

Australia are looking in fine form to start this ODI.

  4. Aus 35-0published at 6 overs

Alyssa Healy confidently picks up a single off the start of Lauren Filer's third over. Chewing gum, the Aussie skipper saunters down the crease to her opening partner, punches gloves, and offers a few words of encouragement.

Phoebe Litchfield gets a short ball from Filer which sticks in the turf and manages to pull it through square leg for four. Litchfield plays around the final ball of the over, England appeal for lbw, but the umpire is not interested.

  5. Aus 30-0published at 5 overs

Lauren Bell builds a bit of pressure with four dots to Phoebe Litchfield, prompting a false shot from the left-handed opener who ends up skying one into the leg side.

The ball plops safely into the turf but that was far from convincing.

Lauren Filer is turning with a little more confidence.

Lauren Filer's forgotten about those first few overs, she's come back and is bowling much better.

  8. Aus 28-0published at 4 overs

Three dots for Lauren Filer in her second over will have settled her down a little bit before Phoebe Litchfield picks up a fortuitous single with an inside edge.

A bouncer to Alyssa Healy has the Australia captain ducking out of the way with her fifth ball before the Australia captain flicks it square for four.

There's a decent crowd making their way into the Junction Oval with spectators occupying the grass banks. Slightly cooler than the first match in Sydney with temperatures around 21 Celsius.

Great shot from Alyssa Healy, she just waited for the ball to come to her and just punches it down the ground.

England are in a bit of trouble here to start off the day.

  11. Aus 21-0published at 2.2 overs

Alyssa Healy looks a million dollars at the moment.

A check drive to a full delivery angled into her from Lauren Bell races away straight down the ground for four. Effortless.

Lauren Filer, you can see she's being tentative. She's got the speed, she's got the power but it's just drifting to the side at the moment.

Lauren Filer will be happy to see that over come to an end.

  14. Aus 15-0published at 2 overs

Lauren Filer is still not comfortable with things here.

She overpitches her fourth delivery and Alyssa Healy, as easy as you like, leans into it and strokes it to the fence for four.

Not the start England would have wanted.

  15. Aus 11-0published at 1.3 overs

Lauren Filer is not entirely happy with how she's landing here and decides a bit of saw dust is required.

She loses her footing again with her next ball and drags down a wide.

England's players congregate by the crease line and are scratching away at the crease to give Filer some grip.

Two fine shots in a row from Melissa Healy. First one looked like it could've have gone towards a fielder. This time Filer overcorrects, she responds with a lovely cover drive.

Mellissa Healy in this form worries me.

  17. Aus 10-0published at 1.2 overs

Lauren Filer's first ball is short, and Alyssa Healy immediately latches on to it and pulls it from outside off to the fence for four. Filer, meanwhile, ends up crumpled in a heap having lost her footing.

The England seamer overpitches her next delivery and Healy picks up back-to-back boundaries with a stylish drive through the covers for four.

England were a bit untidy in the first ODI. I don't know how Sophie Ecclestone missed that catch, they've got to tighten up. There's not a lot of time to get things right but it was surprising to not see Alice Capsey bowl as spin really works here.

  19. Aus 2-0published at 1 over

Lauren Bell, who was miserly in her opening spell in the first ODI at the North Sydney Oval, strays down the leg side on a couple of occasions.

Her fourth delivery beats the outside edge of Phoebe Litchfield's bat before dribbling through to Amy Jones. That did not look like a slower balls so perhaps not a great deal of carry on this pitch.

Lauren Bell is going through a few loosening exercises at the top of her mark.

Phoebe Litchfield has marked her guard at the striker's end.

The clock on the big screen has just counted down. Play.
