What a strange surface and game of cricket.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.2 overs

    Stubbs c Van Beek b De Leede 33 (SA 77-5) Target 104

A massive wicket for the Netherlands.

Stubbs charges down at a ball straying down the leg side. He goes for it, but does not get enough of it. A short run in from Logan van Beek at deep mid-wicket collects it.

It breaks a 65-run partnership and brings the Dutch right back in this.

  3. SA 75-4published at 16 overs

    Target 104

Excellent from Paul van Meekeren, starting the 16th over with four straight dot balls.

From the fifth, the same result, but Miller, going for a big shot, finds a bottom edge and almost chops on to his own stumps.

Some sharp fielding helps Van Meekeren complete a maiden over, which is incredible valuable this late in the game.

South Africa need 29 runs from 24 balls for victory.

  4. SA 75-4published at 15 overs

    Target 104

A good recovery at the end of that over from Logan van Beek, but eight runs still come, with Miller and Stubbs adding two singles each after Stubbs' four.

Five overs left here and South Africa need 29 runs from 30 balls to win.

  5. SA 71-4published at 14.1 overs

    Target 104

We spoke about a growth in confidence from Tristan Stubbs and he has shown it again.

Logan van Beek, who bowled excellently at the the start of the innings, is charged down and driven back over his head for a four.

    A lovely shot.

  6. SA 67-4published at 14 overs

    Target 104

Singh's first over goes for 11, five singles and that maximum from Stubbs.

South Africa need 37 from 36 balls to win this match.

Miller is well set and Stubbs is growing in confidence as well.

The Dutch are in danger of petering out of this one.

Tristian Stubbs is a very clean striker of a ball. He's made his reputation in leagues all over the world.

  8. 6 runs

    SA 64-4published at 13.3 overs

    Target 104

That goes all the way from Stubbs.

The Dutch bring Vikram Singh into bowl. He starts the over with two singles before Stubbs hits that flush over the deep mid-wicket boundary for a maximum.

They all count for a lot for South Africa.

  10. SA 56-4published at 13 overs

    Target 104

A very good over from Van Meekeren with just a single apiece for both Miller and Stubbs.

The target is now 48 off 42 for South Africa.

It feels like David Miller is the key. If he stays in, they should be home and dry, but if the Dutch can get him out, this game really opens up.

  11. SA 54-4published at 12 overs

    Target 104

Back-to-back 11 run overs for South Africa will be a boost and now their target is dropping to virtually a run a ball.

David Miller is well set on 28 off as many balls, he just needs Stubbs, or someone else, to come in and stay with him.

There are more smiles on the face of the South Africa fans now.

It is starting to looking more like an assured innings now.

In the context of this game then David Miller's run-a-ball 28 is probably a match-winning innings.

  13. 6 runs

    SA 53-4published at 11.5 overs

    Target 104

    This is more like it.

South Africa with more intent now.

David Miller clubs the ball back over bowler Pringle's head and clears the fielder at long off for a maxium.

Pringle's over had been fairly tidy, but with a chase this short, that will not help the Dutch.

Tristan Stubbs is struggling. The required run-rate is almost at seven an over and they are currently going at just under four an over. They are going to have up it.

  15. SA 43-4published at 11 overs

    Target 104

South Africa pick up 11 from that over and that will be a blow to the Dutch and Bas de Leede.

The Proteas are still going at under four an over, a big issue with the needed rate now at 6.78 to win from here.

They do certainly have the quality to chase it down with ease, but to have to get going soon.

  16. SA 40-4published at 10.2 overs

    Target 104

A bit streaky now from Bas de Leede with the ball. Seven runs in the last two balls from the Dutch given up, De Leede's shorter ball is clipped off the top of Miller's bat behind him and runs for four.

Make that eight runs, as that four is also a no ball.

That has the potential to shift the momentum in this one.

South Africa are still favourites for me in this scenario.

This is brilliant from the Netherlands though. They are missing three key and experienced players in this tournament.

Just three runs come from the over as Pringle brings the first bit of spin to this South Africa attack.

At halfway, South Africa are three runs behind where the Dutch were at this point, 35-4.

A proper game on here in the Big Apple.

The Kelterman family from Haarlem have flown in from the Netherlands just for this game.

"We go back on Monday, but couldn't miss this one," they tell me.

They were on their feet after that fourth wicket for the Dutch.

It will be interesting to see now how South Africa approach this now and when the Netherlands turn to spin.
