The previous run out was pretty good, though.

  2. Ned 66-6published at 15 overs

A boundary! Do my eyes deceive me?

Engelbrecht whacks Maharaj back down the ground for four precious runs.

The over almost ends with a run out as a misfield allows the batters to come back for a second, but Tristan Stubbs' throw is very wayward. A rare blemish for the Proteas.

If you go on team and performance in this World Cup, you would have South Africa right up there, at least the final. If you go off history and what's happened before, that's not necessarily the case.

  4. Ned 57-6published at 14 overs

    Edged!

And just short of slip. Love that there's still a slip in the 14th over, though. Says it all.

  5. How's stat?!published at 16:31 British Summer Time 8 June

The Netherlands could end this innings with one of the lowest team scores in T20 World Cup history.

They already have the two lowest on record, with 39 v Sri Lanka in 2014 and 44 against the same opposition in 2021.

  6. Ned 52-6published at 13 overs

Sybrand Engelbrecht is holding firm with 16 from 22 balls.

Is there much point in simply hanging around at this stage? May be worth just having a go.

Another good day for Anrich Nortje.

    2-14 so far.

  8. Ned 48-6published at 12 overs

The pitch played its part in the first few games at this ground, but it hasn't here.

It's been a combination of fantastic bowling and a batting line-up that hasn't been able to withstand it.

Netherlands' scorecard looks like a shambles. There has been some low scores in this World Cup, especially on this ground, and this could be the lowest of the lot.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.5 overs

    Nidamanuru c Klaasen b Nortje 0 (Ned 48-6)

First baller! Disaster for the Netherlands.

A short, fast one from Nortje does for Teja Nidamanuru, rearing up on him and the edge flies all the way down to deep third where Henrich Klaasen takes a simple catch.

It was a quick single, a tight single. Excellent bit of fielding from Markram. He thought it was a single. Markram nearly took the stumps down with him!

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.3 overs

Edwards run out Markram 10 (Ned 46-5)

    Brilliant piece of work!

Scott Edwards seems to be playing backyard cricket with hit and run rules. He dabs to mid-on, instantly sets off for the single and Aiden Markram swoops and throws in one motion to take down the stumps.

    The Netherlands' misery continues.

    Instant revenge?

We're looking at a run out.

It's a brave shot. Edwards gets into the position early. There was a deep third so Edwards was brave to play that.

  15. 6 runs

    Ned 46-4published at 11.2 overs

And that's a pretty good way to get the second!

Scott Edwards ramps Nortje over his shoulder for six.

  16. Ned 40-4published at 11 overs

We've had one boundary in 11 overs. It was in the second over.

Did Baartman do "The Bartman" in celebration of his wicket? Did he tell O'Dowd to eat his shorts?

Ronnie and Andy are here supporting the Netherlands. But don't be fooled by the colours of their shirts, they aren't Dutch.

In fact they are both Americans from Maryland who have travelled down to New York and attending their first ever cricket game.

"My son-in-law is from England so I've become interested in cricket a little bit," Ronnie says. Andy adds:

"There's definitely some similarities with baseball, especially with the love of stats!"

  19. Ned 35-4published at 10 overs

I think it's fair to say that the first half of the innings belongs to South Africa.

Not looking good for an upset so far. David Miller was never going to drop that catch, he is a very good leader.
