  1. Ned 14-1published at 3 overs

Jansen gets away with the free hit, as Vikram Singh tries to whack it out of the park.

He times the next one perfectly, all along the ground, but because of the sandy outfield he only gets two.

I'd be fuming with that. It was a shot that really deserved a boundary.

  2. Ned 10-1published at 2.3 overs

No! Marco Jansen has Vikram Singh caught behind, almost in identical fashion to his first wicket, but he's overstepped!

    Shocker!

This pitch has definitely got better. You can tell they have taken the grass off it.

  4. Ned 7-1published at 2 overs

A single down to deep third completes a pretty good over from the Dutch point of view, but when he got it right, there was some decent bounce for Rabada to work with.

Watch out for when Anrich Nortje comes on...

  5. Ned 6-1published at 1.4 overs

    First boundary!

Lovely shot from Vikram Singh, smashing Kagiso Rabada over cover for four.

Too wide and too full from Rabada, a bit of a gift.

Max O'Dowd scored a 50 in his last game so he will be feeling pretty confident.

  7. Ned 2-1published at 1.1 overs

Max O'Dowd, who got an unbeaten half-century against Nepal a few days ago, gets the Netherlands' first run off the bat.

Vikram Singh is in at number three with him.

Marco Jansen gives South Africa the perfect start.

There's a fair bit of movement out there for the seamers.

    Levitt c De Kock b Jansen 0 (Ned 1-1)

    What a review!

Quinton de Kock was adamant, and thankfully managed to persuade the skipper into a review.

It's a big swish outside off stump from Michael Levitt, under pressure after a few dot balls, and a thin inside edge tickles through to the keeper.

    Perfect start for South Africa.

  10. South Africa reviewpublished at 0.3 overs

    Caught behind?

Quinton de Kock thinks so, but there's nothing from the bowler Marco Jansen.

A nervous wait for Michael Levitt...

  11. Ned 1-0published at 0.2 overs

A wide gifts the Netherlands their first run.

It is very colourful here. There are so many orange shirts to my right. I saw loads of South Africa shirts on my way in this morning. I think this World Cup is really starting to pick up and I think the shock results we have seen have helped.

  13. Ned 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Big swing from Jansen first up. It strikes Levitt on the pad but it's going down leg, so there's not much of an appeal.

The match ball is delivered to the umpires on a miniature lorry, an upgrade on last year's little car.

Michael Levitt and Max O'Dowd are in the middle for the Netherlands, and Marco Jansen has the ball for South Africa.

    Let's get going.

We're on pitch two at the ground in Eisenhower Park, which is a fresh surface for today's game.

This deck is set to be the one used for India v Pakistan tomorrow so there will be a lot of scrutiny on how it plays, especially in terms of how it reacts to South Africa's quick bowlers first up.

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards: "We do speak about it a bit [previous victories against SA] so we do take a lot of confidence from that.

"We've got a lot of the same plyers from those wins, but it's a new game, a new day and we've got to be switched on again.

"I feel like we played well against Nepal, our bowlers were awesome and then the batting unit got it done comfortably in the end.

"Yeah, we're confident, we have seen a few of games here and we know a bit about what to expect."

  17. 'We can't take any team lightly'published at 15:23 British Summer Time 8 June

South Africa captain Aiden Markram: "We're going to have a bowl. We've had a few games on this wicket. We want to get a first crack on it early in the morning and see if we can restrict their total to something competitive.

On the pitch: "We're expecting not it to be a belter but there should still be something in it.

On facing Netherlands: "I think we've seen in this World Cup you can't take any team lightly. It's a big game for us, the history is the history."

Team news?: "We are going with the same team."

  19. South Africa win the toss and bowl firstpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 8 June

    Advantage to Aiden Markram.

After his side bowled Sri Lanka out for 77 on Monday, he's rightly got full faith in his attack.

Both teams are unchanged from their first outings.

Both teams are coming into this with confidence, having won their first games.

The tricky New York pitch has dominated most of the discussions, with the toss becoming increasingly important as it favours the chasing side significantly.

We'll have that news for you, and the teams, next.
