  1. NZ 93-3published at 14 overs

    Hello!

There's some sweet timing, as Sophie Devine drives Aaliyah Alleyne through the covers for four.

The bowler then oversteps, gifting Devine a free hit which she can only manage a single from in the end. But it's a good over from New Zealand, with 12 coming from it as they finally look to accelerate.

  2. NZ 85-3published at 13.2 overs

Gorgeous shot from Halliday, guiding the ball past point with exquisite timing but Ashmini Munisar saves the boundary with a brilliant dive running round from deep third.

Good intent from New Zealand at last, but West Indies are still in it.

  3. NZ 81-3published at 13 overs

Brooke Halliday can give it a whack, and she needs to do that - and then some - to dig New Zealand out of trouble here.

She thumps two boundaries in the over, one down the ground and the next through mid-wicket as Stafanie Taylor misfields and eventually kicks the ball over the ropes for four.

New Zealand are in a lot of trouble now. They're hoping that putting in the left-handed Brooke Halliday may give them a few looser balls, with West Indies having to change the field. But it's clear they haven't found any fluency in their batting so far.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.1 overs

Plimmer st Campbelle b Fletcher 33 (NZ 69-3)

    Well, she anchors no more.

The pressure tells on Georgia Plimmer, who dances down the track to Afy Fletcher's spin and is nowhere near it. Shemaine Campbelle whips off the bails and Plimmer departs for 33 from 31 balls.

Two new batters at the crease for New Zealand now ramps up the pressure even more.

New Zealand need a couple more twos and a lot more boundaries. They aren't even going at a run a ball at the moment. But fair play to the West Indies, they are right on the money.

  7. NZ 69-2published at 12 overs

Another good over for West Indies as we wait for updates on Chinelle Henry, who has been taken off the field.

Captain Sophie Devine joins Georgia Plimmer in the middle, who is anchoring the innings with her 33.

I wonder how much that hit impacted Melie Kerr as well. She didn't look quite on it as Deandra Dottin came in to bowl. There's been a strange atmosphere in the game ever since Chinelle Henry got hit on the head.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.2 overs

    Kerr c Ramharack b Dottin 7 (NZ 65-2)

Well, at least the drop doesn't cost too much.

It's a soft dismissal for Melie Kerr, who swishes her bat in anger as she trudges off after chipping the ball straight to Karishma Ramharack at cover.

That has hit the fielder smack on the forehead, it didn't even burst through her hands. She's awake but she looks in some pain.

  11. dropped catch

Kerr dropped on 5published at 11.1 overs

    NZ 65-1

    Oh, nasty.

Chinelle Henry gets a catching opportunity this time as Melie Kerr slams the ball to long-off.

The ball bursts through Henry's hands and hits her flush in the face. She might've lost the ball in the lights. But it's a horrible one as all the fielders flinch, and we've got a delay as she receives some treatment.

Here's how West Indies took their first wicket of Suzie Bates, who made a scratchy 26 from 28 balls.

  13. 6 runs

    NZ 63-1published at 11 overs

    Oh no!

Georgia Plimmer lofts the ball of long-on for six but it should've been a catch. Chinelle Henry completely misjudges it, charging in from the ropes as the ball sails over her. If she'd stayed put, that would've been a simple chance.

Given the catching in this tournament, of course there's no guarantee she'd have taken it - but you've got to give yourself the opportunity.

  14. Not outpublished at 10.2 overs

Well, keeper Shemaine Campbelle was telling her captain that it wasn't out.

Matthews should listen to her next time as the impact is miles outside the line.

  15. WI reviewpublished at 10.2 overs

Melie Kerr misses a sweep, and Karishma Ramharack is convinced.

Nobody else is particularly bothered but Hayley Matthews begrudgingly sends it upstairs.

New Zealand need to get a move on here, they are only going at five and a half runs an over. That's much slower than what they need to end up with. 110 will be far too easy for West Indies to chase.

They do still have Sophie Devine to come though and she can cause some damage.

  17. NZ 54-1published at 10 overs

Halfway there and West Indies will be delighted with this approach from New Zealand.

Throughout Australia's curious innings yesterday we kept wondering when is the acceleration going to come? In the end, it came too late, and they paid the price for it.

Yes, they're at a different venue but New Zealand can't afford to make the same mistake.

A solid, if unspectacular start from New Zealand. Georgia Plimmer is trying to be proactive out there but it's just not executing at the moment.

  19. NZ 50-1published at 9 overs

Great opening over from Ramharack, just two runs and the wicket from it.

Kerr has a single to her name while Georgia Plimmer has 23 at a run a ball.

Suzie Bates took a risk and it fell through. We've seen her play that shot so many times in this tournament and I'm not sure it's worth the risk. You would only get one or maybe two runs.
