  1. Postpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 18 October

Eden Carson has taken three key wickets to put New Zealand in the driving seat, including that of Stafanie Taylor.

  2. WI 52-4published at 11 overs

Aaliyah Alleyne is the new batter to join Deandra Dottin.

By the way we have not yet had an update on Chinelle Henry, who was hit on the forehead by the ball while attempting a catch during New Zealand's innings. If she is cleared to bat it might be further down the order.

Hayley Matthews has gone and that's a huge wicket! It was a pretty filthy hack. She didn't get anywhere near the ball, she lost all of her shape. This is not what West Indies wanted at all.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.5 overs

    Matthews c Kerr b Tahuhu 15 (WI 51-4)

    That is out though.

Hayley Matthews, perhaps feeling the pressure to keep up with the heave, goes for an ugly hoick that is pouched by Melie Kerr on the mid-wicket boundary.

  5. dropped catch

Deandra Dottin dropped on 2published at 10.1 overs

It will go down as a drop, but that was a wonderful effort from Suzie Bates.

Deandra Dottin skews one into the air, Bates runs back from cover and dives full stretch, but the ball just evades her grasp.

This pair is really the last that West Indies have got, so it will be a crucial partnership. Chinelle Henry will not be batting so it's the two youngsters up next Aaliyah Alleyene and Ashmini Munisar. So young with this responsibility and little experience would not be positive.

That's a mighty shot from Hayley Matthews, who powerfully sweeps the ball through the on-side and to the rope.

That is just about keeping West Indies in touch at the halfway stage.

  8. WI 42-3published at 9 overs

Deandra Dottin can hit the ball very, very hard. West Indies will need plenty of big hits if they are to escape this ever-deepening hole they find themselves in.

Just when West Indies were finding a little bit of rhythm, it is snatched away from them. Their all-rounder Deandra Dottin needs to come to the middle now and do something very special.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.5 overs

    Taylor b Carson 13 (WI 41-3)

    Eden Carson responds!

After being hit for those two fours, Carson now has three wickets!

She tossed one up and Stafanie Taylor looked to heave it over deep mid-wicket, but the ball instead clattered into the stumps.

This game is far from done. That four was a little remainder of just how powerful this batting duo can be. Suddenly, the dynamic of this match rather shifts.

  12. WI 40-2published at 8.3 overs

Lovely shot from Stafanie Taylor, who shows neat footwork before driving Eden Carson through the covers.

An uppish drive from Hayley Matthews then loops just over the mid-off and runs away to the rope.

    West Indies are fighting back.

  13. WI 31-2published at 8 overs

New Zealand have been superb so far. Melie Kerr sends down four dots and when Hayley Matthews does middle it, the ball is clawed back by the fielder on the mid-wicket boundary.

Just two off the over. The run-rate is slowly creeping up.

  14. WI 28-2published at 7 overs

Well, that forward defensive I was telling you about? Turns out it hit Stafanie Taylor's pad first AND it was going on to hit the stumps.

A dream start for New Zealand could have been even better.

Meanwhile, that's another miserly over from Fran Jonas, who is 0-11 from her three so far.

Hayley Matthews is getting a little bit frustrated. West Indies have had the best strike right out of any team in this tournament, so they are used to getting off to fast starts. It's a different situation completely for them to deal with tonight.

  16. Postpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 18 October

New Zealand are bowling to a plan and so far it is yielding results.

We have just seen a forward defensive in a powerplay, which shows just how much New Zealand are on top currently.

A frustrated Hayley Matthews then skews a front-foot drive that loops up and falls just short of the extra cover fielder.

This just the start New Zealand wanted.

  18. Postpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 18 October

Here is the first wicket to fall. It was a cracking delivery from Eden Carson to bowl Qiana Joseph.

Hayley Matthews is going to have to score the bulk of these runs now if West Indies are going to chase this total down. New Zealand are making sure they are not giving her many easy singles because they know that is her game.

New Zealand are now favourites on WinViz.

A reminder it was 67-33 in Windies favour at the start of the chase.
