    Ah. Here we go.

Shaheen Afridi is on for a spell although it's with the old ball for now.

Harry Brook's century came from 118 balls with one six and eight fours.

It's his fourth against and in Pakistan which ties him for most centuries in the country by a visiting Test batter already in four Test matches alongside India's Mohinder Amarnath and Sri Lanka's Aravinda de Silva.

    Thank you, JP.

Joe Root looks like he could be in need of some more as he hobbles through the singles in this over.

The cameras follow Shaheen Afridi but still there's no sign of the new ball being taken.

Pickle juice works by the acid triggering a reaction in one of the nerves at the back if the throat, so indeed does not need to be ingested just gargling would suffice.

Brook's century is the fifth of this match and it's another greeted with a muted celebration. That's partly because the batters don't want to waste any precious energy but also because this pitch is a dream for batting.

Baz McCullum looked impressed in the dressing room at least.

Harry Brook's only played 19 Test matches and he's already reached his sixth hundred. He shakes hands with Joe Root and all of his team are on their feet in the dressing room to cheer him on. That's a very special performance from a very special player.

Harry Brook gets there courtesy of a sloppy misfield!

It's his sixth Test century and the fourth Test in a row he has got one in Pakistan.

I've just done the Joe Root 'Higher or lower' quiz on the BBC Sport website, and it's thrown up some surprising (to me) stats. Worth doing, if only to expand your Joe Root knowledge on this auspicious day.

    Ruth Brooksbank

A Joe Root higher or lower quiz you say, Ruth? Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a few minutes.

You've got to feel for Abrar Ahmed a little. He's not a big turner of the ball anyway and this pitch is giving him nothing.

He's just looping the ball up there and the batter can do as he pleases.

Harry Brook knows that the ball is not going to be all that threatening. There's not much turn off the surface for Abrar Ahmed.

Harry Brook has had enough for this. Abrar Ahmed is biffed for six and Brook now stands on 98 not out.

Saud Shakeel just walks in really and bowls outside the off stump. He's one of those really effortless bowlers.

I think Chris Gayle still has the award for putting the least effort into any sort of delivery, but this chap is not far behind.

There must be a pickle juice expert reading this?

Saud Shakeel looks like he's having to be reluctantly dragged to the crease by a rope from the dressing room - so slow is his approach.

    Nothing doing in that over.

Can we have a consensus on the correct use of pickle juice to combat cramp? Alex asserted yesterday that you don't actually swallow it while Finny said there was no point unless you ingested it!

Pakistan's latest bowling change is to introduce batter Saud Shakeel for some of his left-arm loopies.

The over, in which Abrar again lobs it up outside leg stump, ends with England's 400 coming up, the 150 partnership being reached and Harry Brook moving into the nineties.

No sign of the new ball yet as Harry Brook pulls Abrar Ahmed for four.

    This is not thrilling cricket.

Pakistan need to get some initiative back again. Their fielding has been quite defensive and they have blocked most gaps off. But England have managed to work the ball around.

Six more runs in the latest tired over, this one bowled by part-timer Salman Ali Agha.

The new ball is now available. I predict England will attack if Pakistan take it.
