Pakistan’s spinners are averaging 101.8 runs per wicket in the three Tests that they have played at home this year. They have taken a wicket every 166 balls and have gone at 3.68 runs per over. The opposition spinners meanwhile have averaged 34.1 runs per wicket.

England's scoring rate has been above five for most of the innings but has just dropped below with Pakistan continuing their defensive tactics. There have only been two boundaries since the 60th over.

Things have gone a little slower and quieter out there in the middle. There's a lot more fans in at the moment and England are still a few behind.

Pakistan move onto Plan E - banging in the ball halfway down.

Joe Root smashes one on the bounce to the fielder and let's the next go over his head.

Drinks are coming onto the field at the end of the over, even though the official break is not due for 35 minutes. Everyone is tired.

Following on from the vinegar cure for hiccups, if you take a deep breath and hold it for 10 seconds and then breath in for a further two seconds, the hiccups will go. I have a feeling Pakistan will be taking a deep breath at stumps.

We've just been shown a graphic which shows not one ball in Abrar's last 10 overs could have been out lbw. They have all been looped up outside the batters' leg stump.

Pakistan are hoping to force an error with defensive fields.

    Remarkable!

The ball hits Harry Brook's stumps but the bails do not come off. He defended the ball down into the ground before it leapt up, hit his grille and then rolled back onto middle.

Multan really is not a place for the bowlers.

Brook needs to go on the attack here. Runs needed to possibly take a lead and attack that Pakistan line-up.

Going back a second, a teaspoon of vinegar stops the hiccups? How did I not know this? What else have I been missing out on?

Muhammad Rizwan, meanwhile, is making a lot of noise behind the stumps for the circumstances.

It seems as though England are in the realms of starting to think about how they can get in position to win this game.

When do we get to the point where we're saying only England can win from here? Not yet but if they get close to Pakistan's total that third innings is going to be very tricky.

Following on from pickle juice if you have a teaspoon of vinegar when you have hiccups, they go immediately! It works a treat! A tip I was taught many years ago. Enjoying the commentary on my dog walk!

It's all very straightforward for England.

Six loopy deliveries from round the wicket from leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed are met by five gentle strokes and one kick of the boot from Joe Root.

There'll be a new ball available in nine overs - not that the quicks will be that enthused by the prospect.

There's still very little turn for Abrar Ahmed.

And Joe Root is now back out in the middle for the final session of the day.

Abrar Ahmed, who has been hit for 124 in his 24 overs, will start us off with the ball.

Vaughan has known Root since he was a child, having also played club cricket at Sheffield Collegiate

I knew Root would be a good player. I thought he would play for Yorkshire and England but not in a million years [did I think he would be England's leading run-scorer]. He is an absolute delight of a person. You could argue he is England's greatest batter but also their greatest role model.
