Will Smeed is the key. Even Sean Dickson, he's played one good scoop shot but Smeed has looked perfectly fluent for the entirety of the innings.

He's really held this together and at the moment you'd feel as though he has to be there if Somerset are to chase this.

  2. Somerset need 37 from 18 ballspublished at 17 overs

The pressure is showing now, Scott Currie returns but slings down a wide to start his third over.

A drive down the ground from Will Smeed takes him into the 80s but Currie gets away with another wide-looking one from ball four.

The fifth is a MONSTER slog sweep for six into the Hollies from Smeed over deep square. His first six.

He has 88* from 54 balls after cracking a short ball to deep cover for just a single.

Dot ball to end the over, how crucial might it prove. Sean Dickson has 20*.

    11 off the over.

How are the nerves? Good night to be a neutral I reckon.

This is somewhat different to last year's final where Somerset were skittled for 120 odd and Gloucestershire chased it down with no trouble.

Sonny Baker returns and Sean Dickson ramps his slower ball over Chris Wood at short third for four, which brings up the 50-stand with Will Smeed.

Dickson takes a single to deep mid-wicket from the next ball bringing Smeed back on strike but Baker produces a timely dot ball before a yorker on leg stump costs only a single.

Dickson cracks the next ball back over Baker for four to long-off.

    11 off the over.

Somerset have this in their grasp. It feels like the momentum is all with them now.

  6. Somerset need 59 from 30 ballspublished at 15 overs

Somerset 136-3 - target 195 to beat Hampshire

Will Smeed sweeps his 11th four to fine leg off Bjorn Fortuin before Benny Howell saves a couple on the rope from a similar shot to deep square.

Smeed cracks the ball past James Vince in the covers to make it a round dozen from a shorter ball, with Smeed moving to 72, and then 76 with a straight smash down the ground for his 13th boundary.

17 off the over. Smeed has 78* from 48.

We have a game on here, make no mistake.

Hampshire were 136-3 after 15 overs. We have exact parity.

    Get the popcorn ready.

The 2025 season deserves a dramatic finale, and it's going to get one...

Let's hope that's not a turning point. Scott Currie is like Craig Overton for Somerset, he does not drop a thing but he has there.

Oh dear that's a big drop.

I would have put a lot on money on Scott Currie there, he's normally very good.

I think he was a bit unsure at first, found his bearings and then it just fell through his hands.

  9. Somerset need 76 from 36 ballspublished at 14 overs

Benny Howell returns for his third over but Will Smeed manages to squeeze a boundary past a diving fielder to reach 59*.

He is beaten by a slower ball next up but runs a quick two from the third delivery to move past 60 before Howell sends down a wide outside off stump.

A single brings Sean Dickson onto strike and he swings for the fences hoying to deep mid-wicket where Scott Currie waits for an age before spilling a dolly a few yards inside the rope. Sheer pain.

    How costly will it be?

Nine off the over from Benny, but that could have been Somerset's Waterloo, surely?

Edgbaston might be the quietest it's been all day.

It's been a VERY long stint for the majority of the crowd... they might need a few sixes to liven things up again.

Pressure is mounting on Will Smeed and Sean Dickson here. The run-rate they are scoring at has dipped below nine and they need boundaries.

Here's one, Will Smeed sweeps Bjorn Fortuin away to bring up his half-century from 35 balls.

He needs more if Somerset are going to win this, however.

  14. 'Dickson just hasn't got going'published at 21:21 BST 13 September

Sean Dickson just hasn't got going, he's hardly played a shot in anger. He hasn't gone for any big shots really, just working the ball around.

  15. Somerset need 95 from 48 ballspublished at 12 overs

Somerset 100-3 - target 195 to beat Hampshire

Will Smeed has gone a little quiet, from a Somerset perspective.

He has 44* from 32 balls while Sean Dickson gets some luck as he miscues one back towards Benny Howell, who doesn't quite read the flight and doesn't dive forward, from which he could probably have taken a simple catch.

Four singles, a two and a dot from Howell, who was right on the money, money, money.

Fortuin is back at the other end.

  16. 'Somerset need to find the fence'published at 21:18 BST 13 September

Somerset 94-3 - target 195 to beat Hampshire

Somerset have got to start finding the fence here. They need that big over just to start alleviating some of that pressure.

  17. Somerset need 101 from 54 ballspublished at 11 overs

Somerset 94-3 - target 195 to beat Hampshire

Bjorn Fortuin returns with another testing over.

He gives up a couple to Sean Dickson then scrambles across the track to slide and prevent a single - he's a super trouper.

He beats the bat and hits Sean Dickson's pad in front from the next ball, though Dickson was way down the track and the Hawks opt not to review Michael Gough's not out call - even though it appeared to have straightened and be heading for leg stump.

Just four off the over, just what Hampshire needed.

BENNY TAKES OVER FROM BJORN... Gimme, Gimme, Gimme the ball, he almost certainly said.

That's Scott Currie in a nutshell. He can make things happen out of nothing.

I'm pretty sure it's not the delivery he would have wanted but he'll take that.

  20. Somerset need 105 from 60 ballspublished at 10 overs

Somerset 90-3 - target 195 to beat Hampshire

Sean Dickson ducks under the first delivery from Scott Currie and then can't get a slower ball away.

Five runs off the over and that big wicket.

Midway point and Somerset need 105 from 10 overs.
