  1. wicket

WICKET Lord c Das b Harmer 21published at 12:30 British Summer Time 12 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 93 & 266-8

Put the lunch back under the grill, we're heading for some extra time!

Rob Lord does what hundreds have done before him and dabbed Simon Harmer to short leg - Robin Das under the helmet on this occasion.

That'll add another 15 minutes to this session.

Notts still 98 runs in arrears.

  2. 'Encouraging signs for Somersetpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 12 September

    Surrey 17-0 - target 221

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Two really encouraging signs for Somerset those last two deliveries from Jack Leach, both of them bouncing and turning.

  3. Postpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 12 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 93 & 265-7

Kyle Verreynne and Rob Lord have been proactive against the second new ball.

Lord doubles down on that with a lovely cover drive. He has 21 off 28balls.

If you're going to lose a match, and Notts definitely look like they'll lose this match, you might as well go down with some pride.

The deficit is under 100 now, so that a small positive.

  4. Leach causing problemspublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 12 September

    Surrey 17-0 - target 221

Back-to-back maidens and Surrey have survived the first 10 overs without damage.

Close again! Jack Leach turns one past the outside edge of Dom Sibley's defensive prod through to wicketkeeper James Rew.

More cries from the slips as Sibley seems to edge the next ball. It nutmegs Rew, but more hope for the hosts.

  5. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 12 September

    Durham 573-9 dec v Lancs 228 & 258-9

Anderson Phillip is carrying on and wallops another ball with a swipe into the on side off Bas de Leede for two.

Now Chemar Holder will try to finish the game off, bowling to Tom Aspinwall.

The third delivery is a no ball and the fourth is a leg side bumper Aspinwall wisely leaves alone.

He also leaves a bouncer to survive the over.

  6. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 12 September

    Gloucs 94-3 - target 234

Toby Roland-Jones is back on for another quick burst of bowling before lunch and Miles Hammond leaves outside off.

    Maiden over.

Spinner Josh de Caires comes on at the other end and his last ball goes very, very fine off the pad of James Bracey.

The LBW shout is turned down and that's two leg byes.

  7. 'Somerset will be quite happy'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 12 September

    Surrey 16-0 - target 221

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset will be quite happy that neither of these batsmen are going after either spinner.

So Vaughan and Leach are able to just to settle in to a nice groove, a nice rhythm.

  9. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 12 September

    Surrey 16-0 - target 221

A Rory Burns single from Archie Vaughan's second over.

The Surrey opener looks solid in defence to his former England team-mate, Jack Leach. Maiden.

  10. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 12 September

    Durham 573-9 dec v Lancs 228 & 253-9

Anderson Phillip has 27 and the innings gap is now below 100.

Tom Aspinwall pulls Bas de Leede to deep backward square for a single.

Anderson Phillip makes an awful mess of a pull shot and the ball trickles back to the bowler.

He gets hold of the fourth ball though and smacks it to fine leg for four.

    That's the Lancashire 250 in 75.4 overs.

He goes again and top edges over the slips but decides not to run.

A pause in play as that ball struck the crash helmet and the physio is coming on.

Phillip looks calm and able to carry on though.

A great signing - Shakib Al Hasan - but if Surrey go on to win the title then surely the player registration system needs looking at - it’s a team competition not an all stars competition. Select a squad and stick with it

    Hywel, neutral fan, via WhatsApp

Shakib Al Hasan has a five fer, he's on a one-match loan, that doesn't seem right, you couldn't do that in the Premier League. I accept that Somerset may have prepared the pitch accordingly & that's not right either.

First boundary of the Surrey innings as Dom Sibley turns a straight ball from Jack Leach around the corner through fine leg for four.

Oof! What a response from Leach as he gets the next ball to turn and grip and takes Sibley's outside edge.

It bounces just in front of Craig Overton at first slip, but there's a bit of hope for the home fans.

  13. Postpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 12 September

    Gloucs 84-3 - target 234

A brace of fours from James Bracey! Can we say that?

Both balls are full, wide and driven square through the off side.

Not a bad way to get off the mark.

He gets a single off the fourth ball of the Henry Brookes over, then takes four more runs, this time off Tom Helm with another square drive.

  14. wicket

WICKET Evison c Vince b Abbott 11published at 12:13 British Summer Time 12 September

    Kent 207 & 138-5 v Hampshire 403

Need a wicket, call for Kyle Abbott!

It feels like he has taken a wicket in the first over of every new spell in this match, and this doesn't disprove that.

Joey Evison pushed at one and it is a really good low catch at first slip by James Vince.

Hampshire's slip catching today has been impeccable, after a few drops in the last couple of days.

  15. new ball

Tom Taylor takes the new ballpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 12 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 128 & 238-3

With a slender lead of 59, Warwickshire face their one remaining threat today as Worcestershire take the new ball.

First-innings hero Tom Taylor comes in to bowl at Will Rhodes, who is on 117, while Hamza Shaikh has 23 off 72 balls.

Taylor then almost strikes with his fifth ball as he finds Rhodes' edge, but whether it carried or not to Ethan Brookes at second slip is open to debate as it did nit appear to carry. And he seems to have hurt his finger in making an attempted grab for it.

  16. Vaughan into the attackpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 12 September

    Surrey 9-0 - target 221

After his six-wicket heroics in the first innings, Archie Vaughan's off-spin is introduced in just the sixth over.

Dom Sibley safely plays out four dots before turning the fifth for a single.

A change of ends for Jack Leach who replaces Craig Overton. Spin at both ends after six overs.

  17. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 12 September

    Durham 573-9 dec v Lancs 228 & 243-9

Chemar holder tsts out Anderson Phillip with a couple of bouncers but Phillip survives.

Double change as Bas de Leede replaces Callum Parkinson in the attack.

Tom Aspinwall pulls a short one and takes a single as the ball bounces just in front of Holder.

Single to Phillip, clobbering another short one in front of fine leg.

For the third time in the over Holder is picked out in the deep on the leg side but again the ball lands safely.

  18. Postpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 12 September

    Surrey 8-0 - target 221

Jack Leach's second over costs a Rory Burns single.

Surrey are in no hurry here. They are nursing a 24-point lead at the top.

    The urgency is all Somerset's.

Craig Overton continues and finally beats the bat with his 16th ball of the morning.

A lovely delivery across the bows forces Rory Burns to play and it slides past the outside edge.

  19. Postpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 12 September

    Gloucs 71-3 - target 234

Shot! Tom Helm is full outside off and Miles Hammond drives through the off side for four to move on to 31.

He leaves the last one outside off and you'd fancy honours for the session are just about even if Gloucestershire can avoid losing a fourth wicket before lunch.

  20. wicket

    WICKET Patterson-White c Pepper b Porter 10published at 12:04 British Summer Time 12 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 93 & 238-7

Jamie Porter of Essex celebrates with his team mates after taking the wicket of Liam Patterson-WhiteImage source, Rex Features

Jamie Porter only needs three balls with the second new ball.

Liam Patterson-White can't resist having a go at a little bit of width but only edges behind.

    Notts still 126 behind.
