That is the slower delivery working really well for Tom Curran.

Restricting the boundary options, as they know Jamie Smith wants pace on it.

Smith has got his team off to a very good start - he looked very dangerous.

Jamie Smith's fun is over and Oval Invincibles will be feeling far more comfortable now. It's good from Tom Curran who bowls a slower ball that brings about the false shot.

Smith's drive goes a mile into the air and Jordan Cox takes the catch having steadied himself at mid-off.

That will help David Warner. A little bit of shape as gestured by David Warner, but that was too straight from Tom Curran. David Warner is too good of a player to miss out on a delivery like that.

  4. Spirit 30-0published at 17 balls

Whether because he was feeling left out or not, David Warner flicks his first boundary as Tom Curran's delivers his second delivery too straight in line.

David Warner has the best seat in the house for the Jamie Smith show.

  6. Spirit 26-0published at 15 balls

    Smith 24, Warner 1

Jamie Smith is squinting as he stands in the full glare of the setting sun while Jason Behrendorff runs in from the shade.

It cannot be easy. Having flicked the first off his pads for four, he then looks less comfortable as the ball beats edge and clatters into his midriff.

  7. Spirit 19-0published at 10 balls

    Smith 18, Warner 1

David Warner was applauded off on this ground two years ago at the end of the Ashes. That feels a very long time ago.

He swings and misses to Saqib Mahmood.

Jamie Smith helped it on its way. He got a good bit of timing to just get it over the fielder.

  9. 6 runs

    Spirit 18-0published at 8 balls

Flicked for six by Jamie Smith!

The fielder at deep square leg was in the game but he just has enough on it.

  10. Spirit 10-0published at 5 balls

First signs are the pitch is another good one. Spirit's women knocked off 109 in 62 balls earlier.

Jamie Smith has been in tremendous form. Refreshed is a good word to use.

He is top of the order for England in the T20 internationals. He has showcased his dynamic ability to bat at any position for England.

A great start for Smith. He has come out with a bit of freedom.

  12. Spirit 8-0published at 2 balls

Straighter this time from Jamie Smith and four again. I don't think he middled it - there were cries of "catch" - but no-one is stopping it.

  13. Spirit 4-0published at 1 ball

And Jamie Smith meets the first ball from Jason Behrendorff with a back-foot punch. The first ball is a four.

  14. Spirit 0-0published at 18:31 British Summer Time 25 August

Jamie Smith, at his county home and against many of his Surrey team-mates, is opening for Spirit with David Warner.

    Breaking

Unsurprisingly after their success against Trent Rockets on this ground, Oval Invincibles decide to field first after winning the toss.

    Men's Hundred table

Oval Invincibles still sit top of the men's Hundred despite Saturday's defeat by Northern Superchargers but that loss added a bit of jeopardy to tonight's fixture.

If Invincibles beat London Spirit, the Currans, Jordan Cox, Will Jacks and co will effectively be guaranteed top spot, thus meaning they skip the eliminator, because of their massive net run-rate advantage.

Both Superchargers and Trent Rockets will be able to pip them if they don't.
