  1. wicket

Surrey all outpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 25 July

    Worrall st sub b Bess 18 (Yorks 516-6d v Surrey 537)

    Fun's over folks.

Dan Worrall charges at Dom Bess who throws it wide of off stump, beats Worrall and Harry Duke completes the stumping.

Bess has mopped up to claim 7-162 - the fourth time he's taken seven wickets in a first-class innings.

Surrey lead by 20 and Yorkshire will now have to see out the final afternoon.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Zak Chappellpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 25 July

    Derbys 195-7 v Leics (target 446)

It's been entertaining from Zak Chappell whose approach is pretty simple and very effective.

He's struck some lovely boundaries and picks up a 50 for himself with 10 fours and one six.

Some quick maths means only four of his runs have required him to stretch his legs.

  4. Surrey leadpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 25 July

    Yorks 516-7d v Surrey 522-9

Matthew Fisher slog sweeps Dom Bess twice over cow corner for six and Dan Worrall follows with a slug over long-off to take Surrey into the lead at Scarborough.

  5. GLAMORGAN BEAT KENT BY FIVE WICKETSpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 25 July

    Glamorgan 327 & 189-5 v Kent 155 & 360

Kiran Carlson finishes on 89 not out to guide Glamorgan to victory with room to spare against Kent.

Matt Parkinson bowled well for the visitors - taking eight wickets - but his side couldn't do enough to really put the hosts under pressure.

Glamorgan move up to second in the as-it-stands table, so it might change pending other results, while Kent remain bottom of Division Two with just two wins in ten matches.

It doesn't get any easier for them either with leaders Leicestershire up next.

  6. Gloucestershire leadpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 25 July

    Glos 381 & 178-4 v Lancs 557

How much resistance have Gloucestershire got in them this afternoon?

They were sloppy in the morning to lose four wickets and now desperately need to win this afternoon's session.

They have at least nudged into the lead, which will make them feel a little better but they still need to bat deep today to save this game.

Joe Phillips and James Bracey at the crease.

  7. 'Webster afraid to have a go'published at 13:54 British Summer Time 25 July

    Warks 184 & 156-3 v Worcs 333 - 243

    Phil Britt
    BBC Radio WM

You get the feeling that Beau Webster is a bit like a caged tiger at the moment, he is walking around and wants to have a go at it, but he is a bit afraid to, especially after how he got out in the first over.

If you put a couple of wickets on this, say 160-5 the balance will shift right back in favour of Worcestershire.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 25 July

    Kishore c & b Bess 18 (Yorks 516-7d v Surrey 498-9)

Dom Bess is collecting a very cheap haul here.

The latest is Sai Kishore who goes to slog sweep and gets a top edge straight up and the bowler takes the catch.

    Surrey almost on terms now.

  9. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 25 July

    Glamorgan 327 & 175-5 v Kent 155 & 360

Just the 14 runs needed for Glamorgan now.

Colin Ingram has departed lbw to Matt Parkinson, who has four wickets, but Kiran Carlson (75*) is steering his side home.

  10. new ball

New ballpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 25 July

    Derbys 179-7 v Leics (target 446)

Leicestershire take the new ball but are going to continue with the spin of Liam Trevaskis.

The fourth ball is edged by Zak Chappell but drops short of slip.

Chappell then has a massive heave to the next one and makes brilliant connection with thin air.

The next one is a full toss and this time Chappell smacks it for four.

    It's lively.

  11. Postpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 25 July

    Derbys 172-7 v Leics (target 446)

We are back at it at Derby.

Derbyshire need to survive another 63 overs, Leicestershire need another three wickets - I wonder which way this one will go...

  12. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 25 July

    Hants 453-9 v Notts 578-8d

    Lunch - finally!

Notts took three wickets this morning but are still being held up by Felix Organ who has played so well for his career best 121 not out which has taken him more than six hours

With the home side wobbling in sight of avoiding the follow-on target Kyle Abbott came in and blasted one four and two sixes to ensure the visitors will have to bat again.

We had an extra 30 minutes before lunch to see if the visitors could get the final wicket but no luck.

Right, time for a cheese and pickle roll and a cuppa.

  13. Career best score for Felix Organpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 25 July

    Hants 452-9 v Notts 578-8d

Felix Organ's watchful innings continues for Hampshire.

He goes to 120 not out and surpasses his previous highest score of 118.

What a job he has done for his team.

  14. 450 up for Hampshirepublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 25 July

    Hants 450-9 v Notts 578-8d

We're into an extra 30 minutes before lunch because there are nine wickets down - you do have to ask why to be honest.

Ben Slater is on to bowl for Notts which tells you about the visitors' thoughts - he's the eighth man to have a go with the ball.

Slater has three wickets in first class cricket at a cost of 79 runs each.

Anyway the 450 is up for Hampshire - my lunch is waiting tantalisingly in sight.

  15. 'All is not lost for the Bears yet'published at 13:24 British Summer Time 25 July

    Lunch: Warwickshire 184 & 149-3 v Worcestershire 333 & 243

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Warwickshire made steady progress through the morning, advancing the score quickly enough to remain in contention for a victory that seemed an unlikely outcome for most of the last two days.

Worcestershire might well still fancy their chances of taking the seven remaining wickets to deny them, but there was not much from this morning’s play to encourage them.

Yesterday afternoon the pitch showed signs of turning more difficult, but not so far today in by far the best overhead conditions of the match.

Tom Taylor, who was dismissed by a spiteful ball in Worcestershire’s second innings, might in particular be wondering why nobody else is getting one of those today.

Zen Malik batted with an air of calm throughout the session, perhaps with the sense that if he bats through the day, Warwickshire might well win.

Looking much more assured than might be expected from a player in his first season of Championship cricket, he reached a well-paced half-century 20 minutes before lunch.

Dan Mousley seemed equally serene until moments before his dismissal, reverse-sweeping Bertie Foreman to backward point to miss out on an ideal chance to record his first Championship hundred. He left slapping his pads in annoyance.

But all is not lost for the Bears yet.

  16. 'Our worst performance in four-day cricket'published at 13:21 British Summer Time 25 July

Essex beat Sussex by an innings and 39 runs

Sussex head coach Paul FarbraceImage source, Rex Features

Sussex have fared well since returning to Division One this season but some indifferent batting and a poor bowling performance saw them well beaten by Essex.

"It's been hugely disappointing," said Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace

"In the three years I have been here it's comfortably our worst performance in four-day cricket. We never got into the game.

"Apart from James Coles and Tom Alsop in the second innings we haven't batted anywhere near as well as we can, there were a lot of soft dismissals and our bowlers haven't done much better to be fair.

"We didn't play Division One standard cricket which is really frustrating and disappointing."

  17. 'A massive win'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 25 July

Essex beat Sussex by an innings & 39 runs

Essex captain Tom WestleyImage source, Rex Features

Essex started this round of games in the Division One relegation zone but this win lifts them up to sixth place pending the results elsewhere.

"I think that was our most complete performance of the season," said Essex skipper Tom Westley.

"At a crunch time, with where we are in the table, to turn up and play like that is testament to everyone in our changing room - 24 points and a win is massive for the club and hopefully we can take that into the last four games.

"We don't want to make excuses about injuries - we probably haven't played anywhere near our ability through the season and it has been challenging getting our strongest XI at times

All still to play for at Edgbaston.

Warwickshire have only lost Dan Mousley in the morning session, for 69, and still have Zen Malik going very well on 59.

Still 244 to win. Seven more wickets for Worcestershire.

  20. Lunch at Merchant Taylors' Schoolpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 25 July

    Middlesex 625-8 dec v Northants 261 & 129-5

When Northants lost two quick wickets early in the session it felt like this one might not last too much longer but Saif Zaib (40*) and Rob Keogh's (9*) 50 partnership has held up Middlesex.
