  1. Can Notts put pressure on Hants?published at 10:52 British Summer Time 25 July

Nottinghamshire still retain a slither of hope they can pull off an unlikely win but Tilak Varma's near six-hour stay for his century kept them at bay on day three.

They managed to wheedle out six wickets with Hampshire still more than 200 runs behind but it will take something very, very special from Notts or something very, very bad from the home side to produce anything other than a draw.

"It was a good innings to be frank," said Varma

"It came at the right moment because we had just lost a couple of wickets in the morning session so it was important to stay there."

"I have got good scores but I haven't got a big one. I would love to score a double hundred here but it hasn't come.

"I've done my bit but if the team needs me I am ready. I love to bat. It isn't easy to score there."

  2. Surrey to see it out at Scarborough?published at 10:51 British Summer Time 25 July

    Yorks 516-7d v Surrey 338/4

Surrey come back at North Marine Road needing just another 30 to save the follow-on - it would take quite the collapse to be asked to bat again.

Rory Burns, 78, Dom Sibley, 52, and Ryan Patel, who comes back 88 not out, have kept Yorkshire at bay.

Still a bit of work for the defending champions to do but the draw is the huge favourite at Scarborough.

  3. Weather for day fourpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 25 July

After several interruptions for rain and bad light around the grounds over the past few days the weather I am glad to say looks to be set fair today.

There's a small chance of some showers in the north but largely there will be plenty of sunshine around so fingers crossed no unscheduled stoppages anywhere.

    Here we are then...

We've battled through a fair bit of rain and the dreaded Kookaburra ball to get to the final day of this round of County Championship games.

We should get results at Hove, Edgbaston, Derby, Cardiff and Northwood today but sometimes cricket doesn't go the way you planned.

Let's see what day four has to offer us...
