  2. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts 32-0 v Durham 378

First bowling change at Trent Bridge as Paul Coughlin replaces Matthew Potts who went for 19 from his opening four overs.

It's solid from the medium-pacer and costs just the single off Haseeb Hameed who goes to nine.

Not a great deal of danger so far for the batters in the opening 10 overs, but Ben Raine has real control and immediately swings one away from Hameed.

  3. 450 up for Essexpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 450-4 v Surrey

The new ball has done the damage against Hampshire's tail but the lead is already 107 runs which in the context of the game could be significant.

  5. Postpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 461-7 v Sussex

Tazeem Ali is on to bowl for Warwickshire and Danny Lamb calls for a quick single and runs to the danger end, in comes the throw which just misses.

That would have been an unnecessary dismissal.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 83.5 overs

    Hampton lbw b White 14 (Hants 227-8 v Yorks 121)

Good breakthrough 20 minutes short of the lunch break for Yorkshire as Brett Hampton goes.

The Hampshire man flrted with this mode of dismissal in the previous over and stepped across his stumps again to give Jack White a third wicket.

Hampton was not given much cause for optimism when he looked up to see partner Kyle Abbott's already taking his gloves and helmet off.

Now he swipes Ryan Patel to the long-off boundary and then down to the long-leg rope are Essex making their move?

  10. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 460-7 v Sussex

Four more for John Simpson as he drives beautifully to the long-on rope.

The next ball Simpson drives straight again but hits Michael Booth's boot on the follow through to prevent another boundary.

The Sussex skipper is seeing it like a beachball at the moment.

    Middx 260 v Lancs 119-1

A crowd of over 4,000 on the opening day was the largest for a Championship match at Lords since 2016, and the largely home support witnessed a strong day for Lancashire.

The home side this morning are trying to force themselves back into the game, helped by four consecutive maiden overs from Ryan Higgins.

He found the edge of Keaton Jennings' bat, and the Lancashire captain was visibly frustrated as he punched his bat on the way back to the pavilion.

Higgins has been well backed up by some testing bowling from Blake Cullen who's also found the edge of Josh Bohannon's bat, both outside and inside edge but for no reward.

Lancashire will be hoping they'll be able to cash in on a slow passage of play later in the day.

Tom Banton is seeing it like a space hopper at Taunton and is closing, seemingly inevitably, on his next milestone.

The 150 partnership with James Rew is brought up with a neat clip to fine leg and Banton has 90 of those.

  14. Fernando slows Foxes’ progresspublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 5 April

    Glamorgan 229 v Leicestershire 137-3

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Two wickets for Glamorgan’s Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando - the first player from his country to represent the county - slowed Leicestershire’s ominous early progress in Cardiff.

Sol Budinger and Ben Mike took their stand to 88, Mike looking confident up the order for 41, before Fernando won an lbw shout.

Budinger reached 56 before top-edging a pull shot straight up in the air, claimed by Kiran Carlson.

While Fernando got some movement off the pitch, England spinner Shoaib Bashir was getting occasional turn in a long spell in bright but windy conditions.

Foxes’ opener Rishi Patel is not expected to bat after dislocating his thumb early in the field.

  15. 100 runs

100 partnershippublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 418-4 v Surrey

Michael Pepper nudges another single and that's the 100 stand with Matt Critchley.

A punch of gloves suffices as far as a celebration goes - there is still plenty of batting to be done you feel.

  16. Postpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts 26-0 v Durham 378

Matthew Potts throws his hands to his head as he finds the outside edge of Ben Slater's bat.

It drops just short of the slips, and to make matters worse, squirms through as the Notts opener picks up two more.

Another edge, this time controlled and along the ground as Slater finds the third man boundary and picks up his fourth four to go to 18.

  17. 'A really nicely judged innings from Rew'published at 12:30 British Summer Time 5 April

    Somerset 282-4 v Worcs 154

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

    Well played to James Rew.

It's been a really nicely judged innings backing up Tom Banton.

Worcestershire are in a bit of trouble now.

  18. new ball

    New ballpublished at 80 overs

    Hants 216-7 v Yorks 121

Ben Coad grabs the new cherry and immediately tucks up Ben Brown with one that nips back in off the seam.

It goes without saying but Yorkshire could do with stopping this innings asap with the lead up to 95 runs.

  19. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts 16-0 v Durham 378

Ben Slater takes advantage of the short boundary as he twice finds the rope in front of the Smith Cooper Stand off Matthew Potts first over.

Haseeb Hameed continues the positive start, picking up his first boundary off Ben Raine.

The Notts captain then adds another couple from the final ball of the third over.

  20. 450 up for Sussexpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 450-7 v Sussex

On go the visitors and Danny Lamb nudges a single to bring up the 450.

They just want to get as many as possible and see how Warwickshire deal with the scoreboard pressure.
