  1. 'Sussex try will and build another partnership'published at 12:22 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 448-7 v Sussex

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio WM

We might see Sussex up at it at some point but I think Danny Lamb can certainly bat so I think they'll just try and build another partnership.

  2. Division Two updatepublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 5 April

    #bbccricket

Asitha Fernando has removed the two set Leics batters as Glamorgan make much-needed inroads in the morning session.

After trapping Ben Mike for 41, the Sri Lankan then removed opener Sol Budunger for a well-made 56. The visitors are 123-3, 106 runs adrift.

Wayne Madsen has brought up his 89th first-class fifty as Derbyshire continue to make hay against Gloucs.

He and Harry Came (64*) the pair have put on 116 for the third wicket as the hosts move to 212-2 and within 10 runs of Gloucestershire's first innings.

Zak Crawley and Ben Compton have taken Kent to 28-0 in their second innings as they extend their lead over Northants to 116.

And Michael Jones has reached 36 as Lancashire make steady progress at 108-1 in reply to Middlesex's 260.

  3. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 413-4 v Surrey

Michael Pepper crunches James Taylor through the covers for another boundary and moves to 47 not out.

There is absolutely nothing happening for the Surrey bowlers and they will be delighted to get their feet up at some point.

  4. 50 runs

50 for James Rewpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 5 April

    Somerset 255-4 v Worcs 154

Rew makes Tom Hinley squirm a little more in the field following his spill with the Somerset man on 30 by reaching his half century in 102 deliveries.

And there is no hiding place for Hinley who is chucked the ball by Worcs skipper Brett D'Oliveira.

What can you do to make amends? Not much as it happens as he bowls a wide and is banged for four by Tom Banton.

Ten off the over from the bat and an added extra with the wide.

  5. Postpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 406-4 v Surrey

Dan Lawrence is introduced to the Surrey attack for the first time today.

The change of ball failed to change the pattern for the seamers can Lawrence's unique bowling action and spin get something to happen?

Well, Matt Critchley knocks one around the corner and Michael Pepper sets off for a single that isn't there so has to scramble back - the ball hits the stumps but Pepper is safe.

  6. Notts begin first innings replypublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts 2-0 v Durham 378

Ben Raine will open the bowling for Durham as they look for early inroads.

Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed will take guard for the first ball as Ben Slater at the non-striker's end.

Hameed guides it between gap between the slips and point to get off the mark straightaway with a settling two runs.

Five dots follow as Matthew Potts prepares to run in from the Stuart Broad End.

  7. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks v Sussex 446-7

Danny Lamb hammers Vishwa Fernando through the covers for four.

The Sri Lankan is not enjoying his Warwickshire debut - 0-75 in his 19th over.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 75.4 overs

    Liam Dawson lbw b Bess 20 (Hants 203-7 v Yorks 121)

And that will be particularly sweet for the bowler given he could well have had Ben Brown out in his previous over.

Dawson went for an expansive sweep, missed and, Bess, bowling round the wicket, straightened it nicely to hit him on the top of the thigh in front of middle stump.

Big celebrations from the Yorkshire close fielders and they will be pleased enough with their work in the first hour with two down for 29 runs.

  9. Postpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 402-4 v Surrey

Surrey managed to get the ball changed twice yesterday - once when it went out of shape and the other time when it hit the wall by the Chelmsford pavilion and had a chunk taken out of it.

Jordan Clark is unhappy with the ball again and it won't fit through the umpire's measure so out comes the bag of balls for a replacement.

Essex still in control and have added 46 runs in the first hour this morning.

  10. dropped catch

Rew dropped on 30published at 60-3 overs

    Somerset 219-4 v Worcs 154

Could be a long day in the field for Tom Hinley after he shells a fairly straightforward grab at deep square leg off the bat of James Rew.

It was a catch he would take nine times out of ten but his luck is not in and his spill prompts a double teapot from the bowler Ben Allison. Understandable given this could be a long and hot stint with the ball.

  11. Postpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 434-7 v Sussex

End of 110 overs at Edgbaston.

Four bonus points for Sussex and two for Warwickshire.

How many more runs can Sussex get or can Warwickshire wrap this up?

Vishwa Fernando has been off the field for a spell but is on to bowl for the home side.

  12. DURHAM ALL OUT FOR 378published at 12:00 British Summer Time 5 April

    Coughlin lbw b O'Neill 11

Fergus O'Neill begins his brief four-match stay with Notts with a five-wicket haul.

Paul Coughlin and Matthew Potts had added eight runs to the overnight score before O'Neill found the front pad of Coughlin (11) as he prodded forward.

Durham are bowled out a ball shy of 100 overs and O'Neill finishes with 5-81.

    None too shabby.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Harry Camepublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 5 April

    Derbys 189-2 v Gloucs 222

Derbyshire are rapidly closing in on parity against Gloucestershire.

Harry Came brings up his 11th first-class fifty with his ninth four, off Matt Taylor. It's brought up from 80 balls.

Wayne Madsen is six away from yet another half-century and the hosts as they take their partnership to 95.

  14. Postpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 402-4 v Surrey

That's 110 overs bowled so there are no more bonus points on offer in this innings.

Essex have taken four and Surrey just the one.

  15. Postpublished at 71.5 overs

    Hants 180-6 v Yorks 121

Dom Bess thought he had his man there and that looked very close indeed, Ben Brown (2) missing his reverse sweep and hit in front of middle.

The spin might have taken it away from leg stump. Might. But the reaction of the Yorkshire players says it all.

That would have been reviewed has they had the option and they may well have had a breakthrough.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 5 April

    Hudson-Prentice LBW b Bamber 4 (432-7)

Ethan Bamber has a fourth wicket for Warwickshire and his 200th in First Class cricket.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice goes for a big drive and is smacked on the pad right in front of all three stumps.

  17. 'Coad's been unlucky to be wicketless so far'published at 11:53 British Summer Time 5 April

    Hampshire 184-6 v Yorkshire 121

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

The Yorkshire bowlers are continuing where they left off last night, trying to squeeze the life out of the Hampshire innings.

Runs once more are hard to come by against an accurate attack.

Ben Coad bowled four over for just two runs this morning. He got the ball to shape away beautifully as he started to do at the back end of the day yesterday. He seems more at home bowling with a slightly older ball.

He’s certainly unlucky to be wicketless so far.

  18. Play under way at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts v Durham 376-9

After that bizarre Sprinklergate delay, we're up and running in Nottingham.

Durham's last man Matthew Potts plays out a maiden to Dillon Pennington to get us started.

Paul Coughlin picks up the first run of the day with a single off Fergus O'Neill's first ball. The Australian is hunting a five-for.

Potts picks up a single to get his morning under way before Coughlin tickles a legside delivery down to the fine leg boundary.

  19. 'Yorkshire have bowled really well'published at 11:52 British Summer Time 5 April

    Hampshire 180-6 v Yorkshire 121

    Sean Ervine
Former Hampshire allrounder on BBC Radio

Yorkshire have bowled really well this morning.

Their line has been excellent and they haven't given anything away.

  20. 400 up for Essexpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 400-4 v Surrey

A fourth batting bonus point for Essex as Matt Critchley pulls Jordan Clark for a single .

He and Michael Pepper have now added 82 runs for the fifth wicket.
