They only scraped through to the knockout stage on net run rate but Gloucestershire are the 2024 T20 Blast champions.

Left-arm David Payne finished as the competition's leading wicket-taker with 33 - he and team-mate Matt Taylor shared 62 between them.

And Cameron Bancroft became only the fifth batsman to pass 500 runs with his 53 in the eight-wicket win over neighbours Somerset in the final.

It's Gloucestershire's first T20 triumph and their first trophy of any kind since 2015 - so congratulations to them.

That's the Blast done and dusted for 2024 but we'll be back with you on Tuesday from 10:00 BST for full County Championship coverage as Somerset look to bounce back by boosting their title hopes. Join us then.

Gloucestershire captain Jack Taylor speaking to Sky Sports:

“What a day. I’m so pleased for the boys, that was so special.

“We have a strong belief in the group, we may not have international stars but we’ve got guys that can get it done.

"To play like that and have two comfortable victories, it’s more than we could ever have imagined.

“We’ve had a tough few years and it’s been a while since we won a trophy. It’s reward for the boys in the changing room and the fans here today.”

  3. 'We just couldn't get going'published at 21:42 British Summer Time 14 September

Somerset captain Lewis Gregory speaking to Sky Sports:

"Hats off to them, they bowled brilliantly and we just couldn't get going.

"Had we got to 150 we'd have had a sniff but it was always going to be a challenge with the ball.

"We've got a great bunch of lads in the dressing room but it's a tough one to take tonight."

  4. 'I've probably never bowled better'published at 21:39 British Summer Time 14 September

Gloucestershire's David Payne was named player of the tournament after finishing with 33 wickets - including three in the final.

Payne told Sky Sports: “It’s got to be right up there, it’s not going to sink in for a while. I feel a huge amount of emotion and pride for those guys.

“I made a very difficult decision to move to a white-ball contract to look after my body and try to prolong my career. It’s probably the best decision I’ve ever made.

“In the powerplay I’ve probably never bowled better and I put it down to having a fresher body and fresher mind.”

Gloucestershire's players are celebrating with their families.

But it is a very poignant success for former fast bowler David "Syd" Lawrence, the club's president, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease earlier this year.

He was able to come today and has seen his side win their first T20 title and first trophy since 2015.

"Our powerplays have led to a lot of success, getting three-four wickets every time.

So only four teams are left now that have never won the domestic T20 title as Gloucestershire do so for the first time.

What a knock this has been in the final from Cameron Bancroft, what a signing and what a shot that is to get to 50.

Kohler-Cadmore looks in disbelief at how well he has played that.

They are around the final bend and nearly onto the final straight, they can see the tape.
