    Kent 293 & 186-3 v Lancashire 284

A clip to deep mid-wicket for Joe Denly off George Balderson takes the Kent lead up to 191.

There's a big shout for lbw as Balderson beats the bat of Ekansh Singh and crashes into the pads but it's done too much and is heading down leg.

Singh has seen enough and drills Balderson down the ground for a one-bounce four - his first boundary in 74 balls to reach 17*.

    195 is the Kent lead.

  2. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time

    Kent 293 & 181-3 v Lancashire 284

A leading edge from Joe Denly almost pops the ball back to Mitch Stanley, diving to his left in his follow-through.

He picks up a single with a jab towards point off the fourth delivery.

Stanley tries to bang in a short one at Ekansh Singh's ribs but is slightly off his line and it flies down leg, past the dive of keeper Matty Hurst, for four byes.

The drizzle has turned to light rain but the SHAME of having taken that tea break is keeping them out there, I feel sure.

Freddie McCann gets width and misses out with an attempted stroke through backward point.

    One run.

    Tom Taylor oversteps. No ball.

The umpires are taking a light meter reading and we are off again.

27 deliveries in that mini session of play and Notts have scored another 13 runs.

When and if we get out there again, 111 more runs are required.

  4. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time

    Kent 293 & 176-3 v Lancashire 284

Joe Denly moves to 17* with a rare run off George Balderson to nudge the lead up to 185.

It's the only run off the over.

Ekansh Singh has 13* from 69 deliveries.

  5. Pitch inspection at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time

    Northants 413-9 v Glam 467

It's happening now but we have the full set of covers on and it is decidedly gloomy out there.

  6. 'It's not been easy to score quickly'published at 16:33 British Summer Time

    Notts 22-1 - target 136

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

The scenario is that Notts require about four an over if they were to get it inside the remaining 29 and a bit overs this evening.

Of course they may accelerate but it's not been easy to score quickly throughout but with the finishing post in view maybe Notts will push on a little later.

  7. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time

    Notts 22-1 - target 136

Ben Allison continues and Ben Slater is forward to defend.

Ben Slater is a bit off balance he plays to leg and gets a leading edge safely into the off side for no run.

Shot! Ben Slater is on the back foot to punch a wider ball through cover for four runs.

Quite easily his best shot so far in the innings.

  8. Postpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time

    Kent 293 & 175-3 v Lancashire 284

Appeal from Mitch Stanley as Joe Denly follows one down leg side but that's come off the hip at best, nowhere near the bat.

The fourth ball is right at Denly and he has no option but to let it hit him, which will sting given Stanley's pace.

Denly takes his frustration out on the ball from the next delivery, slapping past mid-off for four runs and pulls a short one into the leg side for a single to complete the over.

    Guess what, it's spitting...

  9. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time

    Notts 18-1 - target 136

So close! Squared up on the back foot as the ball misses the edge of Ben Slater's bat by a whisker.

Runs! Full and driven into the off side for his first run off 24 balls.

  13. Resumption at Canterburypublished at 16:23 British Summer Time

    Kent 293 & 170-3 v Lancashire 284

Right, start your stopwatch, they're coming back out in the gloomy Garden of England.

Ekansh Singh will take strike against the very stingy George Balderson.

  14. Postpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time

    Notts 16-1 - target 136

Ben Allison also bowls around the wicket, getting a bit of shape into the left-handed Freddie McCann.

    Two slips in. McCann blocks.

Close! A play and a miss and the ball was a coat of varnish away.

Full and driven for three to extra cover. Slow outfield!

  15. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time

    Notts 13-1 - target 136

Tom Taylor is round the wicket to Ben Slater, who defends.

Ben Slater angles the ball away behind backward point but there's still no run.

Over bowled. Ben Allison is on from the New Road End.

  16. Pitch inspection at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time

    Essex 457-8 v Durham 333

There will be an inspection at the County Ground any moment now.

Not sure it will be good news as the covers remain on and it's been raining heavily for over an hour.

Will keep you posted on the outcome.

  17. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time

    Somerset 441-6 dec v Yorkshire 17-0

No sign of any let-up at Taunton so the umpires have decided that enough is enough.

Kasey Aldridge and Ben Green added 50 for Somerset in 8.3 overs this morning before rain arrived for the first time.

After an attempt to restart was foiled by the weather, Lewis Gregory called a halt to their first innings by declaring.

Since then, we have had just two overs at the start of Yorkshire's reply - weather permitting, Finlay Bean will resume tomorrow on six not out, and Adam Lyth has four.

  18. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time

    Leics 342 v Glos 482 & 8-0

The rain has finally stopped at Grace Road and the umpires will inspect at 4.30pm. It looked pretty horrid on video not that long ago, but let's keep a few limbs crossed, shall we?
