He bowled it a little slower to the tailender and Muzarabani couldn't help himself. Again it's good captaincy to know the tailender would play his shots and to position the fielder there.

Whatever happens in the next 10 games, against India and Australia, whether he does well or struggles, I think Bashir's got a long career of Test cricket ahead.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 52.2 overs

    Muzarabani c Root b Shoaib Bashir 0 (Zim 222-7)

A fourth wicket for Shoaib Bashir... and a two-ball duck for Blessing Muzarabani.

The Zimbabwe tailender goes for the slog sweep but doesn't get hold of it, finding Joe Root at deep mid-wicket.

We're approaching the end game here.

Zimbabwe have been very defiant today, showing a lot of fight.

I'm in the crowd at Trent Bridge right now and there's a noticeable buzz of atmosphere when Stokes bowls. The others just don't quite have that expectation right now - but that will come with more tests and experience.

Raza brings up half-century with drive towards deep cover for four

Blessing Muzarabani walks to the middle, but he spends an over at the non-striker's end as Sikandar Raza faces all of Stokes' over.

The all-rounder faces five dot balls, then fires a glorious cover drive for four to bring up his 10th Test fifty.

    It comes from 57 deliveries.

    That's what Bashir can do.

Tsiga tried to dance down. The dip did for him, the loop. Beautifully bowled.

There's so much talk of Bashir and what he's done in his short Test career so far. Whatever happens, he's such a young spinner, he's going to be around for many years. He's had a tremendous start.

Shoaib Bashir turned away as if to say I can't believe that's missed the stumps.

Tafadzwa Tsiga is turning around... We're just getting confirmation from the third umpire.

  9. wicket

Bashir bowls Tsiga with sharply turning delivery

    You've bowled him, Shoaib!

The England spinner gives the final delivery of the over a bit of air, Tafadzwa Tsiga advances down the pitch but the ball turns sharply and passes between bat and pad.

Bashir turns away, head in hands, not believing he hasn't bowled the Zimbabwe wicketkeeper... except he has, the ball has flicked the leg stump.

I think Tsiga blocked his sight of a fallen bail.

Re 14:22: there’s a difference I think. Starc needed to do that to gain control of the ball, whereas Brook had the ball fully in control. He only turned his wrist the way he did to stand back up, not as part of taking the catch.

Ben Stokes has been the pick of the seamers. He's not bowled the same overs as Tongue, Atkinson and Cook but when he's had the ball in his hand, he's been the one that's stood out.

Did Harry Brook just put the ball on the ground in taking that catch in the same way Mitchell Starc did in the Ashes?

Wicketkeeper Tafadzwa Tsiga is the next man in.
