  1. Ind 99-8published at 18 overs

    Hey, there's a shot.

Shreyanka Patil really gets hold of a reverse sweep off Amelia Kerr and the ball breaks through Eden Carson at backward point to reach the boundary.

That's the spinner's day done, 1-19 for her.

  2. Ind 94-8published at 17 overs

Lea Tahuhu wraps up her overs, conceding three singles from her final over to finish with mighty figures of 3-15.

Shreyanka Patil takes a massive waft at Tahuhu's final delivery, but the ball passes through to the keeper.

'Mighty' hit from New Zealand's Georgia Plimmer for six to extend lead

I really do think that start from Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer stunned India and they haven't been able to grab the momentum back from then on. They have let that run-out decision that didn't go their way against Amelia Kerr also affect them too much and their attitude hasn't been great.

  4. Ind 91-8published at 16 overs

Asha Sobhana comes in at 10 for India, her target just lasting the overs at this stage.

She takes a final ball single to mid-on.

  5. wicket

    Vastrakar b A Kerr 8 (Ind 90-8)

    Oh, that's not a catch.

Amelia Kerr sends down a googly that's far too good for Vastrakar, breaching her defence and clipping the top of the off stump.

The New Zealand spinner nonchalantly raises her finger, another one down.

  6. Ind 88-7published at 15 overs

Shreyanka Patil can't get off the mark from her first two balls.

Not really worth even mentioning the required run-rate at this stage.

This is looking like it's going to be a battering for India. Deepti Sharma just had too much to do. New Zealand are very happy, but they also seem very focused. They're not celebrating wickets too much and just want to see this through.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.4 overs

    Deepti c Devine b Tahuhu 13 (Ind 88-7)

More chips than my takeaway the other night.

Deepti Sharma lobs another simple catch to Sophie Devine at cover.

A second wicket for Lea Tahuhu, with New Zealand's bowlers setting up some good catching practice tonight.

  9. Ind 86-6published at 14 overs

What would typically be a decent over for India, nine from Eden Carson's last including a tasty final ball cover drive by Vastrakar that goes for four.

But the required run-rate is now up at 12.50, it's still not enough.

Carson finishes with figures of 2-34.

  10. Ind 77-6published at 13 overs

Pooja Vastrakar gets a run from her first ball, working the ball through mid-wicket for a single.

India need more than that though, they haven't hit a boundary since the end of the powerplay.

India are crumbling here and there is no way you could see them winning this game. But if they go down to a massive wicket, the consequences could be enormous.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.2 overs

    Reddy c Bates b Mair 1 (Ind 75-6)

New Zealand pluck another India wicket out of the Dubai sky!

Reddy steps back, forward, balloons the ball high into the covers.

Suzie Bates is set to take the catch for about a minute before the ball drops comfortably into her hands.

A second wicket for Rosemary Mair, India into the tail.

The crowd do seem rather stunned and we see that happen a lot when India are not performing to expectations. I also wonder if the pressure that built on India in the build-up is taking its toll. There's so much talk that this is their World Cup to win.

  14. Ind 74-5published at 12 overs

Four runs from Amelia Kerr's second over, some way short of what's required.

Arundhati Reddy gets her first run with a single to mid-wicket.

That feeling of frustration is just over-flowing from India now. I've seen them getting really emotional today, we see it in the men's game also, and you've got to learn to keep that under control.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11 overs

    Ghosh c Devine b Tahuhu 12 (Ind 70-5)

Well, Ghosh won't be hanging around to enact that tactics talk...

A slower ball from Lea Tahuhu utterly befuddles the India batter and she spoons the ball high in the air.

Sophie Devine runs in from mid-on to take the catch and Ghosh swipes her bat furiously.

And that required run-rate has crept above ten now as well.

I'm glad I don't have to give a 15-minute summary of this game because I would have no idea where to start!

  18. Ind 63-4published at 10 overs

    98 needed from 60 balls

India run two more runs off a Carson wide, with the New Zealand bowler seemingly sceptical that the ball didn't contact either bat or Ghosh's body.

We reach the halfway stage with India needing almost 10 an over and New Zealand in control.

The players will take drinks and a member of India's coaching team comes on to earnestly talk tactics with the batting pair.

That was a proper clanger, there's no other way to describe it. Some of the fielding today has been really poor.

  20. dropped catch

Deepti dropped on 0published at 9.3 overs

    Ind 58-4

    Should have been five down.

Deepti Sharma whips Eden Carson's ball towards Brooke Halliday at mid-on, who flails at what should be a simple catch and doesn't even get a touch.

Deepti runs two to take India to 58-4.
