It's farewell from us after a fantastic second day of cricket at the women's T20 World Cup.

Take a read of Ffion Wynne's report to find out how New Zealand shocked India in Dubai.

We'll be back tomorrow for Australia v Sri Lanka at 11:00 BST, before England get their tournament under way against Bangladesh at 15:00.

    See you there!

  2. 'This wasn't the start we were expecting'published at 18:46 British Summer Time 4 October

India's captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "Definitely, we didn’t play our best cricket today but going forward, we have to work out the areas to improve. Every game is important and we have to play our best cricket.

We created chances but we were not able to avail those chances. They played better cricket than us. Our bowlers did well but we made some mistakes in the field. It’s a tough game to make those mistakes but we did well I think.

We knew we were expecting 160 on the board. And we knew we could reach that total if one of us stayed in, but we kept losing our wickets. We have to learn to move on from this now. I still think we managed well today. This wasn’t the start we were expecting but we now have to think about where we go from here."

  5. 'We knew we could put on a competitive total'published at 18:40 British Summer Time 4 October

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine: "Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer really set the tone today. We’ve spoken about capitalising on the first 7 to 10 overs. We knew that we could put on a total that is really competitive. Brooke Halliday was outstanding and Maddy Green as well, ran so well. That’s exactly what the team is about, helping each other out.

"In my innings, the pace was up and we had to try and find the gaps. I tried to find the tempo in my first 12-15 balls and I was happy to contribute to a really competitive total for us.

"I’ve certainly got a few more wrinkles than I did before! But it’s been great. We’ve worked so hard over the last six months and it’s great to see it pay off today."

New Zealand take an early lead in Group A, while India are bottom with a ghastly net run-rate of -2.900.

It's a tough pool that also features Pakistan, Australia and Sri Lanka - India will have to do some work to be one of two qualifiers from the group.

Those two wickets in her final over see Rosemary Mair finish with 4-19, the best of an impressive set of New Zealand figures.

In contrast to the other sides we've seen in this tournament so far, New Zealand used just five bowlers, with 11 of their 19 coming from seamers.

It's a dismal batting card for India, with only five players making it into double figures and Harmanpreet top-scoring with 15.

New Zealand used their batting powerplay so well and since that first six overs, they managed to keep that momentum going. Sophie Devine came in today after the openers had set up a brilliant platform and hit that half-century. They were also very well disciplined with the ball and they fielded really well as a team.

  9. How's stat?!published at 18:26 British Summer Time 4 October

New Zealand have now won five of their last six women’s T20 internationals against India.

It is a massive win for New Zealand. For India, it is as bad as it could have been to open the tournament. If they are now to win this competition, they will have to go the long way around.

Renuka c Devine b Mair 0 (Ind 102 all out)

Game over from the following delivery.

Renuka Singh edges her first ball to backward point where Sophie Devine staggers a little but takes the catch.

A massive shock for India who would have expected to win this game, and now find themselves in trouble in Group A.

Meanwhile New Zealand have their first T20 win in eleven matches.

    Shreyanka c sub (Penfold) b Mair 7 (Ind 102-9)

Shreyanka goes this time, lifting the ball straight to substitute Molly Penfold at mid-on.

They've lofted so many chances into the sky tonight and Penfold, who came on for Plimmer after that dropped chance, makes no mistake here.

    India's race is almost run.

  13. dropped catch

Shreyanka dropped on sixpublished at 18.2 overs

Asha Sobhana takes a single to mid-wicket to bring up India's hundred, before Shreyanka skews Rosemary Mair's delivery high in the air behind the behind square.

Georgia Plimmer tries to take the catch, but she may have been distracted by teammate Brooke Halliday sliding in towards her, and she spills the chance after juggling a number of times.

The tailender takes a single to move to seven.

  14. Ind 99-8published at 18 overs

    Hey, there's a shot.

Shreyanka Patil really gets hold of a reverse sweep off Amelia Kerr and the ball breaks through Eden Carson at backward point to reach the boundary.

That's the spinner's day done, 1-19 for her.

  15. Ind 94-8published at 17 overs

Lea Tahuhu wraps up her overs, conceding three singles from her final over to finish with mighty figures of 3-15.

Shreyanka Patil takes a massive waft at Tahuhu's final delivery, but the ball passes through to the keeper.

I really do think that start from Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer stunned India and they haven't been able to grab the momentum back from then on. They have let that run-out decision that didn't go their way against Amelia Kerr also affect them too much and their attitude hasn't been great.

  17. Ind 91-8published at 16 overs

Asha Sobhana comes in at 10 for India, her target just lasting the overs at this stage.

She takes a final ball single to mid-on.

    Vastrakar b A Kerr 8 (Ind 90-8)

    Oh, that's not a catch.

Amelia Kerr sends down a googly that's far too good for Vastrakar, breaching her defence and clipping the top of the off stump.

The New Zealand spinner nonchalantly raises her finger, another one down.

Shreyanka Patil can't get off the mark from her first two balls.

Not really worth even mentioning the required run-rate at this stage.

This is looking like it's going to be a battering for India. Deepti Sharma just had too much to do. New Zealand are very happy, but they also seem very focused. They're not celebrating wickets too much and just want to see this through.
