India will need to go at eight an over from the off. It certainly looks like it is New Zealand's game at this point

  3. 50 runs

    NZ 160-4published at 20 overs

New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine races to her 50 with a boundary through the extra cover in the third ball of Shreyanka Patil's over before adding five more during the remainder of the final over. New Zealand have set a target of 161 for India in their World T20 opener in Dubai.

Brooke Halliday batted really well and with intent. I thought New Zealand would send in Izzy Gaze after her, but they've decided to go with the experience of Maddy Green. If they can find a few more boundaries here now, they will feel like they have got a really good score.

  5. NZ 149-4published at 19 overs

New batter Maddy Green goes for the scoop from her second ball and connects and the ball runs away for a boundary. New Zealand are one run short of 150 with the final over upcoming.

New Zealand would definitely have taken 150 at the beginning. It looks like a good wicket and as though the ball is coming through nicely under the lights. New Zealand now need a good finish so they can take their momentum into the second innings.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.4 overs

Halliday c Mandhana b Renuka Singh Thakur 16 (NZ 145-4)

Brooke Halliday takes the aerial route off Reunuka Singh Thakur's delivery but only manages to find Smriti Mandhana at the edge of the circle. That is a welcome wicket for Thakur and India.

  8. Umpire reviewpublished at 18.1 overs

Sophie Devine dances down the wicket against Renuka Singh Thakur, but misses and wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh has the bails off. Did the New Zealand skipper get back before the stumping? The decision falls on the third umpire and the replays show Devine is comfortably safe following a quick dive.

  9. NZ 139-3published at 18 overs

After running a two off Deepti Sharma's first ball, Brooke Halliday joins the party by hitting two boundaries in a row. Things go from bad to worse for Sharma as Sophie Devine then hits one to the boundary through cow corner.

New Zealand add 16 more to their collection from that over.

  10. NZ 123-3published at 17 overs

A good over for India as Arundhati Reddy ends her shift by conceding just six runs. New Zealand will still be aiming for a total close to 150 with three overs remaining.

I'm finding this all very stressful. Sophie Devine is playing hit and run; she's usually a very calm character.

  12. NZ 117-3published at 16 overs

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur decides to go for the review after Brooke Halliday misses a sweep from the final delivery of the Shreyanka Patil over and the ball hits her on the chest.

But it is missing the stumps and Arundhati Reddy is ready to bowl the 17th over.

  13. NZ 117-3published at 15.5 overs

Shreyanka Patil returns with the ball for India and Sophie Devine dispatches her for a boundary through the fine leg off the fourth delivery. The New Zealand captain goes for it again in the next ball, but miscues it only to see it land between two Indian fielders.

It's been a spicy last couple of overs with the controversy and the loss of Amelia Kerr. I think Brooke Halliday needs to pick her moments carefully here to stay in as she can do some serious damage against this India team.

  15. NZ 109-3published at 15 overs

Sophie Devine gets on with her business as she hits back-to-back boundaries to end Renuka Singh Thakur's third over. The India bowler has gone for 11 runs but picked up the crucial wicket of Amelia Kerr.

The first ball Amelia Kerr faced after the controversy, and she's out! Maybe there's a little bit of justice in that.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.2 overs

    Kerr c Vastrakar b Renuka Singh 13 (NZ 99-3)

We are back under way after that long break and India don't appear to be happy with the umpire's decision. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is animated.

But it doesn't matter as Amelia Kerr is gone anyway as she hits Renuka Singh straight into the hands of Pooja Vastrakar. She will have to walk this time.

Brooke Halliday is the new batter in.

I cannot believe what I have just seen. Absolute insanity! Somehow New Zealand tried to burgle a second run and Amelie Kerr has run herself out.

We need to see a replay - was the ball dead or not? New Zealand seemed to think it was still in play because they tried to get a second run.

  20. NZ 98-2published at 13 overs

There's confusion all around as Amelia Kerr walks after what looks like a run out, but she's been asked to stay by the umpire.

The umpire had given Deepti Sharma's hat back to the bowler before New Zealand went for a second from an overthrow.

It looks like the New Zealand batter could be safe, but we are waiting to get a confirmation!
