Summary

  1. 6 runs

    WI 69-0published at 7.1 overs

What a shot from Nicholas Pooran!

The first delivery on Mark Wood's return pitches right in Pooran's wheelhouse and he has completely clobbered that towards the top of the stands, the best part of 100 meters back.

    Talk about sending a message.

It's electric. When you get the Johnson Charles stand singing less favourable songs than Sweet Caroline, it's an intimidating place to play.

It's fairly even at the moment. Losing Brandon King broke West Indies' momentum a bit but they have their noses just in front.

  3. WI 63-0published at 7 overs

Just the one boundary comes from that over from Reece Topley, but the West Indies were good at picking up the singles to compliment it.

Mark Wood is back into the attack.

You can see what England want to do, attack Pooran with pace, but he knows what's coming.

    He can stand and deliver.

  5. WI 62-0published at 6.5 overs

It was only a matter of time before Nicholas Pooran got going.

The penultimate ball of this seventh over is cleverly flat-batted over mid-wicket and it runs for four.

    A lovely shot.

Here are the highlights from West Indies' victory over Afghanistan on this ground a few nights ago - Nicholas Pooran was on fire!

  7. WI 54-0published at 6 overs

Jofra Archer has had an expensive start, with 21 runs coming from his two overs so far.

Reece Topley is back after a brief break.

Easy pickings for Johnson Charles. It must be a very pleasant feeling as a batter to be able to whack the ball towards a stand bearing your name.

  9. WI 52-0published at 5.3 overs

Two fours in three balls for Johnson Charles.

This time, it was a fully-fledged slash off Jofra Archer and it beats the ring field, a sign of trying to put the accelerator pedal down.

  10. WI 48-0published at 5.1 overs

Four for Charles, who is now the more settled batter.

West Indies need him to kick on and carry on what King started.

A well-struck shot over cover point. Clever.

It's been a steady start. Not the fireworks we saw the other evening.

  12. WI 44-0published at 5 overs

It took him four balls, but Nicholas Pooran does eventually get off the mark, thumping the last ball off Sam Curran's over through point for four.

A shot like that will certainly help him settle.

Jofra Archer will continue at the other end.

King can come back later in the innings if he is able to but it's still a loss to this point because he was going nicely.

Nicholas Pooran is out to bat as Brandon King makes a painful exit off the pitch and back to the sheds.

He and Johnson Charles have got West Indies off to a good start, but that will be a blow.

That doesn't look good. Something twisted as he hit the ball and he grimaced in pain immediately.

Brandon King doesn't look comfortable at all.

Brandon King might be in some strife here. He dropped as he hit the shot.

    WI 40-0published at 4.2 overs

A sore looking one for Brandon King.

As soon as he played that drive off the second ball of the over, he went down in quite some agony.

Perhaps a leg or hip issue.

He is back up after receiving treatment, but it does not look good.

  18. WI 40-0published at 4.1 overs

A creative delivery is met by a shot of similar ilk from Brandon King, who finds four.

That was well wide of off stump from Sam Curran, King shuffled and a thick edge took it well over Mark Wood at third man and for four.
