Summary

  1. WI 102-1published at 12 overs

Rovman Powell comes into bat next, bumping himself up the order.

He ends the over from Moeen Ali with a big six, similar to the shot that got Charles out, but with more oomph and precision.

Eight runs and a wicket come from the over.

Good bowling by Moeen, it was out and quick towards the wide line.

He'll have known Charles was frustrated with how his innings was going.

He fired it in across and outside off stump, Charles has taken the bait with a premediated slog towards leg.

    A breakthrough for England!

Johnson Charles really threw his bat at that one. He gets under it and sends it sky high.

It almost has enough on it, but Harry Brook is there and waiting at long-on and holds on to the catch well.

    A needed wicket for England.

Arjun Singh: At this rate, the West Indian batters will all retire hurt from straining muscles as they smash our bowling everywhere. It’s the only way we’re getting a wicket in this World Cup, it seems.

With all these wickets in hand and all the power and depth West Indies have, it is a bit surprising they haven't been more aggressive.

  6. WI 94-0published at 11 overs

Disappointing for Adil Rashid, especially given how well he started.

West Indies find 12 off the over, half of which from that excellent shot from Charles.

Loopy from Adil Rashid. You felt it was a matter of time before one of these batters did try to play an aggressive shot and put a bit of pressure back on Rashid.

There is so much power still to come in this West Indies line-up.

  8. 6 runs

    WI 88-0published at 10.2 overs

After 14 balls of six, West Indies finally find a boundary and it is a big clobber for six from Johnson Charles off Adil Rashid.

Inside the ground where he has a stand named after him, that flies off Charles' bat and well over the boundary at deep mid-wicket.

This is a really sloppy effort from our bowlers so far. Far too many extras.

Just woken up in the night and taken a look at the score? Here's your 10-over update - basically West Indies have the platform to go big.

Their openers were well set, reaching 40-0 after 4.2 overs when Brandon King hurt himself while playing a shot and limped off.

However, Nicholas Pooran has kept up the momentum alongside the muscular Johnson Charles as England have once again lacked teeth with the ball. They've been tidy but not very threatening.

    Bad to bed you go.

I wonder if the pitch might be a bit slower than the other evening when West Indies scored 218.

  12. WI 82-0published at 10 overs

Picking up from where Adil Rashid had left off, Moeen Ali goes for seven, five singles and a two.

At halfway, West Indies have 82 on the board.

I think England will be the happier of the two teams at the moment.

West Indies haven't really looked to attack in the last two overs but that might change with Moeen Ali coming into the attack.

England would have taken this, wouldn’t they?

This is the danger over, though.

    Brilliant over from Adil Rashid.

  16. WI 75-0published at 9 overs

    Spin to win?

No wickets produced, but it is a brilliant start from Adil Rashid, who only goes for three singles and really brings the scoring down in that over.

The lowest-scoring over before that one had been eight runs.

We just spoke about Moeen Ali's record against Nicholas Pooran. Now, he joins the attack.

England need to get off-spinner Moeen Ali on against dangerman Nicholas Pooran. In T20 cricket, the opposition offie has dismissed him 10 times at an average of 26. Not much of a weakness, but every little counts!

    Fans watching a cricket game

This stand – named after St Lucian star Johnson Charles – is the noisiest place I’ve heard at a cricket ground anywhere. From the thunderous noise of the PA system mounted at ground-level to the sweeping cheers to greet a boundary, this is a special place to watch cricket. But expect to leave with your ears ringing…

  19. WI 72-0published at 8 overs

A good recovery from Mark Wood, who after being tonked for six off the first ball of the over, gives away just three runs to end the over, one of which is from a wide.

A few excellent deliveries that caught Nicholas Pooran and Johnson Charles swinging and missing.

Now for some spin in the form of Adil Rashid.

Nicholas Pooran is one of the best ball-strikers, one of the most pure swings in the game.

Everything just looks effortless. That's gone 95m and he hasn't broken a sweat.
