There's been a little something for both batters and bowlers on day one, depending where you pitched up today.

Kyle Abbott's five-for stole the headlines at Hampshire to help bowl out Surrey for just 127 and put the Division One leaders firmly on the back foot.

England skipper Ben Stokes' four wickets will also have made a few heads turn as Durham took the initiative from Somerset - but he had to share the limelight with David Bedingham, who made yet another century.

Matt Lamb also enjoyed himself with the bat, piling up an unbeaten 186 for Division Two basement side Derbyshire.

There's plenty more to come on day two - so please join us here tomorrow morning.

We'll be here before play starts at 11:00 BST. See you then.

    Durham 175-6 v Somerset 171 - close of play

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A fine innings from David Bedingham on a pitch that has been anything than easy to bat on.

He's been the backbone of this Durham innings and as long as he's there then Durham will have high hopes of a significant first innings lead.

This is the first time I've seen him and it goes without saying that I've been very impressed. A fine knock.

Durham have just about shaded it.

    Durham 177-6 v Somerset 171

An enthralling day's cricket comes to an end at the Riverside, where Durham put second-placed Somerset in on a greenish pitch and then rolled them over in 52 overs.

England skipper Ben Stokes led the way with 4-54 but Migael Pretorius hung in for Somerset to make 53 off 63 balls.

It was his final action of the game as a blow on the helmet meant Jake Ball was summoned as a concussion replacement and he took 3-41, including the wicket of Stokes for a duck.

Burt David Bedingham made his fourth Championship century in a row and will start again on day two 100 not out, with his team six runs in front.

  5. 'What an effort from Bedingham'published at 18:54 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 175-6 v Somerset 171

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

David Bedingham becomes the first Durham batsman to get centuries in four consecutive innings.

This follows his 144 at Hampshire, 101 and 103 at Blackpool and now 100 here.

    What an effort.

  6. Postpublished at 18:54 British Summer Time 24 May

David Bedingham is content to play out a maiden and we have one over remaining in the day. He now has 794 Championship runs this season.

It's some distance from being the best stroke of his innings, but an inside edge for one is enough to carry David Bedingham to his fourth successive County Championship century.

This one has taken him 103 balls and has included two sixes and 13 fours. Quite some run of form.

  8. Postpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 174-6 v Somerset 171

David Bedingham strokes Jake Ball through the covers for two.

Ball tries a fuller delivery and Bedingham squeezes it away to third man for four to carry Durham into the lead and move to 99 not out.

  9. Postpublished at 18:46 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 168-6 v Somerset 171

It looks like Durham are going to finish the day with their noses in front.

There are three slips in place as Craig Overton comes in to Callum Parkinson, who is rightly taking most of the strike at this stage.

A painful blow on the inner thigh is a price worth paying - but it's a maiden so David Bedingham, on 93 not out, will face at the start of the next over. Three to go.

  10. 'Northants claw their way back in final session'published at 18:42 British Summer Time 24 May

Northamptonshire v Yorkshire 312-7 - close of play

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

The first two thirds of the day were emphatically Yorkshire's but Northamptonshire clawing their way back into the game in the last session, picking up five wickets.

Interesting to see what the teams have to say about the surface and about how the day has panned out.

  11. 'An interesting day with Glamorgan on top'published at 18:39 British Summer Time 24 May

Leics v Glam 352-8 - close of play

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

It's been a really interesting day and very much one that has finished with the visitors on top.

We'll see what the pitch plays like tomorrow once Leicestershire get a chance to bat on it.

  12. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 24 May

    Northamptonshire v Yorkshire 312-7

A day of two halves at Wantage Road, where Northamptonshire have fought their way back into the game after Yorkshire were 202-1 at one stage.

Adam Lyth marked his 200th Championship game with an innings of 109, but wickets fell at regular intervals following his dismissal for 109 - caught and bowled by Luke Procter.

The Northants skipper claimed 3-63, but it was Siddarth Kaul who picked up the important wicket of Shan Masood for 60.

  13. Close of play at Grace Roadpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 352-8

James Harris flicks Ben Mike's four ball off his pads down to the third man boundary which brings up a third batting point and moves him to eight.

Leicestershire have fought back well in the second half of day one, but honours belong to Glamorgan.

Big scores from Eddie Byrom (86) and Kiran Carlson (80), allied to an unbeaten half-century from Sam Northeast (61 not out), has put them in a commanding position after the hosts had won the toss in prime bowling conditions.

The Foxes will need to regroup and bat well when their turn comes.

WICKET Clark lbw Ball 1published at 18:34 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 161-6 v Somerset 171

Another over ticks by, another lovely shot by David Bedingham, this time clipped off his toes to the mid-wicket boundary off Craig Overton.

Jake Ball, though, is bowling an inspired spell and sends back Graham Clark as he wins another leg-before decision.

Here comes Callum Parkinson as a nightwatcher.

  15. Postpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 348-8

Scott Currie in for his final over of the day and has a big lbw shout off James Harris.

He pleads for his maiden five-wicket first-class haul, but umpire Neil Bainton says a firm no. It was going down leg.

Harris takes a single off the fifth ball.

One over to go. Ben Mike to bowl it.

  16. Postpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 153-5 v Somerset 171

It almost looks too easy at times.

Jake Ball is short - but not that short, and David Bedingham swivels and pulls it away over mid-wicket for six.

Maybe there's a touch of over-confidence there as he drives at a wide one without much foot movement and the ball whistles past the edge.

    Bedingham's scores this season are 49, 36, 38, 138, 52, 33 not out, 144, 101, 103 and currently 84 not out in this innings.

  17. Postpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 347-8

Ben Mike runs in for his 20th over of day one hunting a third wicket.

Sam Northeast swings and misses at a wayward delivery. Not the best cricket of the day it's fair to say.

The Glamorgan skip then cuts the next ball down to third man and gets two to move to 61.

Northeast tries to hook a legside delivery from Mike but misses again and it smacks the gloves of wicketkeeper Ben Cox.

    Two overs to go.

  18. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 24 May

    Lancs v Warwickshire 89-3

Bad light has brought an early end to a day which saw the entire first session washed out and just 39 overs possible in total.

Warwickshire chose to bat first and made a solid start until Rob Yates shouldered arms to Tom Bailey, who also picked up the scalps of Will Rhodes and Ed Barnard for figures of 3-25 from 13 overs on his return to the side.

The forecast is for sun on Saturday so skipper Alex Davies will seek to build on his 47* overnight on his old stomping ground.

  19. Postpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 146-5 v Somerset 171

Nine overs still to go at the Riverside.

Durham are only 25 in arrears now, but any hopes of a significant lead may depend on David Bedingham being there to resume his innings tomorrow morning.

Fortunately, they bat pretty deep and Graham Clark is now out there at number seven following the rapid demise of Ben Stokes.

  20. Postpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 345-8

Leicestershire openers Rishi Patel and Marcus Harris may not have been too keen for their bowlers to end the Glamorgan innings this evening.

And it looks as though they will get their wish as Sam Northeast and James Harris play out Scott Currie's 21st over.

Currie is still chasing a five-for, but may have to wait for the morning. He's put a big old shift in today and looks ready to put his feet up.

Just a bye from the over.

Glamorgan are five short of a third batting point with three overs to go.
