  1. New ball taken by Middlesexpublished at 17:21 24 May

    Middlesex v Sussex 254-4

Ethan Bamber has a fresh cherry in his hand and Cheteshwar Pujara grabs a single to move to 80.

His partnership with John Simpson is worth 91.

  2. 'Kent have been rewarded by keeping going'published at 17:19 24 May

    Kent v Essex 228-4

    Sonia Twigg
    BBC Essex

Kent will be encouraged by how they've been plugging away at this.

At no point have their heads dropped, even when it looked like Essex were building quite formidable partnerships but they've just kept going and eventually they have been rewarded.

It's looking like a pitch that not very difficult to bat on but I don't think it's very easy to score runs on.

Joey Evison has bowled particularly well, he might not have the extra pace but he's definitely caused problems.

  3. 300 up for Leicestershirepublished at 17:16 24 May

    Leics v Glam 300-7

Timm van der Gugten strokes Louis Kimber to the boundary and Glamorgan have their second batting point in the 76th over.

How many more can they eke out here?

Leicestershire have fought back pretty well but will be rueing that morning session when they took just one wicket in helpful conditions.

  4. WICKET Hill lbw Kaul 8published at 17:16 24 May

    Northants v Yorkshire 239-4

What looked like being Yorkshire's day is now looking much more like a case of even stevens.

George Hill plays all around a straight one from Siddarth Kaul and he is gone. Yorkshire have lost their last three wickets for just 37 runs in 16 overs.

  5. 150 for Matthew Lambpublished at 17:15 24 May

    Glos v Derbyshire 356-4

Derbyshire now have three batting points and Matthew Lamb reaches 150 from 198 balls as he despatches a wide half-volley from left-armer Matt Taylor.

The new ball has been taken and Gloucestershire need a good finish to the day.

  6. 250 up for Sussexpublished at 17:14 24 May

    Middx v Sussex 252-4

John Simpson takes two off Luke Hollman and Sussex have their first batting point in the 79th over.

A single then takes the former Middlesex wicketkeeper to 42 and the partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara to 90.

How many more can they manage before the 110-over mark?

  7. Bad light stops play at Old Traffordpublished at 17:13 24 May

    Lancs v Warwickshire 89-3

Oh dear. The light has been poor all afternoon and the floodlight have been on for a while but it's reached the point where the players are coming off... the covers are coming on too with the threat of rain in the air.

Warwickshire might not be unhappy if they stay in the hutch all day. Alex Davies has 47 with Dan Mousley on one but their side are 16-2 in nearly 10 overs since tea.

Tom Bailey is on it and Nathan Lyon is like a smothering fire blanket at the other end.

    The pressure has told.

  8. WICKET: Critchley lbw b Evison 13published at 17:10 24 May

    Kent v Essex 225-4

    Order has been restored.

Joey Evison angles one in again and thumps Matt Critchley on the back leg and this time the finger goes up.

He's played a couple of glorious strokes but there will be no repeat of his match-winning 99 and monster stand with Jordan Cox from a week ago.

Michael Pepper is the new batter for Essex.

  9. 50 stand for Durhampublished at 17:10 24 May

    Durham 66-3 v Somerset 171

Nearly. David Bedingham flashes at a ball from Lewis Gregory and it just eludes the right hand of Craig Overton as it runs away for four.

Much better. Bedingham square drives the next delivery for four to post a 50 partnership with Ollie Robinson.

The South African is 32 not out.

  10. Postpublished at 17:08 24 May

    Hants 62-1 v Surrey 127

Toby Albert and Nick Gubbins take a single apiece off Gus Atkinson's second over.

Nothing to worry about there for the batters - the conditions look to be the best of the day for wielding the willow.

Dan Worrall returns for his first bowl after tea.

His initial six-over spell leaked just seven runs.

Toby Albert continues his watchful vigil with three dots before getting a little more aggressive and taking a chanceless two off the next ball.

He moves to a stately 14 off 77.

The deficit is down to a mere 65.

  11. WICKET Masood c Gay b Kaul 60published at 17:05 24 May

    Northants v Yorkshire 229-3

Northants will be delighted with that.

Having eased Siddarth Kaul's previous delivery through the covers for four, Shan Masood attempts a similar stroke and Emilio Gay dives to his right at slip to take the catch.

A key mini-session to come at the end of the day.

  12. Postpublished at 17:05 24 May

    Durham 62-3 v Somerset 171

Only two slips in for Lewis Gregory as Ollie Robinson pushes through the covers for a well-timed four and then flicks a wayward one down to fine leg. He is 24 not out, one more than partner David Bedingham.

  13. Postpublished at 17:04 24 May

    Kent v Essex 221-3

HUGE shout for LBW against Matt Critchley from Joey Evison, his Kent teammates, the Kentish fans, Kelly Holmes and the Archbishop of Canterbury, but no, nothing doing.

This looked a very good shout too. The umpire possibly thinks its drifting down leg but not too sure it would have made it past leg stump.

Critchley survives. Evison feels hard done by. He's worked very hard for that opening.

Essex inch closer to their first bowling bonus point.

  14. Postpublished at 17:03 24 May

    Glos v Derbys 333-4

Matthew Lamb takes his life in his hands by going inside-out and aerial off Ed Middleton, but he makes good enough contact to clear mid-off and collect four.

He adds another boundary as he sweeps a full toss, which frankly deserved it, as he progresses to 143 not out.

  15. Postpublished at 16:59 24 May

    Hants 56-1 v Surrey 127

We'll get a first look at Gus Atkinson today as Surrey try a bit of pace to the new man.

Nick Gubbins is Hampshire's leading run-scorer this season and arrives at the crease with a spring in his step.

He missed last week's trip to Trent Bridge for a spell of paternity leave.

There my be sleepless nights in the Gubbins household, but he's made a solid start, playing a nice punch off the back foot off Atkinson, through the covers for two.

  16. 'Does this open the door for Surrey?'published at 16:59 24 May

    Hants 51-1 v Surrey 127

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

Really good piece of work with the gloves from Jamie Smith and Hampshire lose their first wicket.

Does this open the door for Surrey?

  17. WICKET: Barnard c Hurst b Bailey 2published at 16:58 24 May

    Lancs v Warwickshire 82-3

That's 3-23 for Tom Bailey and Lancs are on top.

Bailey gets one to move away from Ed Barnard who can only feather an edge to Matty Hurst behind the stumps and the finger goes up, eventually.

Dan Mousley is the new man, joining Alex Davies. The hosts are looking to seize even more control.

  18. Postpublished at 16:58 24 May

    Durham 50-3 v Somerset 171

David Bedingham tucks Jake Ball away for a single as Durham reach 50, with three batters already back in the dressing room.

There are, in theory, another 29 overs left in the day and Ben Stokes is expected to be next man in for Durham.

  19. WICKET Middleton c Smith b Lawrence 35published at 16:51 24 May

    Hants 51-1 v Surrey 127

    Breakthrough for Surrey!

Fletcha Middleton looks to sweep a Dan Lawrence loosener which pitches down leg.

He wanted a boundary, but it brings his demise, catching a tiny bit of glove, and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith gets across well to pouch the chance.

A dismissal his team-mate Ben Foakes would be proud of.

    In comes Nick Gubbins.

  20. 'Perfect way for Lancashire to go into evening session'published at 16:48 24 May

    Lancs v Warwickshire 74-2

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

It was a lovely piece of bowling from Tom Bailey for the Will Rhodes wicket.

A perfect way for Lancashire to get into the evening session with a nice early wicket.
