    Lancashire 263 v Leicestershire 242-3 - lunch

    Rehan AhmedImage source, Rex Features

A wonderful century for Rehan Ahmed this morning, full of flair, flamboyance and fine defence - back foot, front foot and both feet off the ground - before he was finally out for exactly 100.

Opening the batting, clearly with a freedom to get on with it, seems to sit well with the England man. It's not all about the shots mind you, his defensive was excellent and he paced his innings superbly.

When he punched Saqib Mahmood through the covers for four, holding the pose afterwards, in just the second over this morning, reaching his second first class century seemed a certainty.

And it was richly deserved, against a bowling attack which includes four bowlers with international experience.

  4. Cloud cover worry for Worcestershirepublished at 13:26 British Summer Time

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcestershire 202 & 1-1 - lunch

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Jamie Porter’s dismissal of Gareth Roderick in the one over possible in Worcestershire’s second innings has undermined their fading prospects in this game.

Thanks to useful contributions from Simon Harmer and Shane Snater, Essex got the runs they would have been looking for this morning and 295 appears a demanding target on a pitch still offering bounce and movement.

And to make matters worse for the visitors, it looks as though they will be batting under cloud cover this afternoon.

Noah Thain didn’t last long this morning but his maiden first class 50 helped settle the Essex innings down and would be a significant contribution should they go on to win.

  5. 'Dominant morning' for Surreypublished at 13:21 British Summer Time

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 216-2 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A dominant morning for Surrey who have added 126 in just 30 overs with Ollie Pope and Dominic Sibley sharing a stand of 179 for the second wicket.

The partnership was ended just before the break with James Coles taking a stinging return catch off his own bowling to remove Sibley.

This is still a very good batting surface, Pope is 94 not out, and if the weather holds Surrey could have a useful lead at the end of the day

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time

    Wheal b Ogborne 19 (Somerset 184 v Hants 336 all out)

A terrific ball from Alfie Ogborne angles in on Brad Wheal and his off-stump goes cartwheeling down the pitch.

An emphatic end to a good first session of day three in Southampton.

Its Ogborne's second of the match and Hampshire are all out for 336, with the hosts boasting a lead of 152 runs.

    Lunch will immediately be taken.

  7. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time

    Durham 386-6 (lead by 79 runs) v Yorks 307

And that lunch will taste a whole lot better for a Yorkshire side after the end to that morning session.

From 301-1 the White Rose have dragged themselves back into this contest by the scruff of their own necks, taking five wickets for 85.

George Hill has bowled beautifully for his two wickets (2-68) and he has been joined at the party coalface by Matthew Revis, whose double strike brought an end to Alex Lees's long stay.

Lees' 172 and Emilio Gay's 152 have put Durham in a commanding position at lunch but Yorks, after looking flat on the canvas, are back in it.

  8. Glamorgan face 'another uphill battle'published at 13:18 British Summer Time

    Middlesex 470-9 dec v Glamorgan 199 & 12-0 - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Middlesex turned the pressure on Glamorgan with a declaration 20 minutes before lunch, a massive 271 runs ahead, as they pressed on despite a clatter of wickets.

Ben Kellaway claimed four of the five to fall with an intelligent spell of off-spin under fire, out-bowling England loan player Shoaib Bashir, as Leus Du Plooy and Ben Geddes immediately moved up several gears from their previous efforts.

Both fell in the 80s while a cameo of 31 off 27 balls from Toby Roland-Jones allowed him to call in his last-wicket pair.

Glamorgan’s openers survived a tricky three overs but the visitors still face another uphill battle to avoid defeat.

  9. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:15 British Summer Time

    Derbyshire 307 v Northamptonshire 375-5

A good morning for Northamptonshire, who go into lunch with a 60-run lead, having added 139 during the session.

Luke Procter and Rob Keogh extended their overnight partnership to 111 before Keogh was bowled by Luis Reece for 54.

Procter went on to make 150 until he was caught in the gully, but Saif Zaib is 42 not out at the interval, with Lewis McManus on 11.

    Advantage the visitors.

  10. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:14 British Summer Time

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 216-2 (trail by 219 runs)

A slightly delayed lunch to be taken at Hove following a late start and Sussex will be delighted to have broken the second wicket partnership which had stretched to 179.

James Coles made the breakthrough to dismiss Dom Sibley who had looked very comfortable as he looked to close in on three figures.

Similarly Ollie Pope has been wearing slippers at the other end as he has moved to 94 with very few alarms as the champions have moved at over four an over.

  11. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 v Notts 307-6

And that is lunch at Edgbaston.

And once more, it's a session that belongs to Nottinghamshire.

The visitors have added 103 runs to their overnight tally for the loss of just one wicket.

Haseeb Hameed remains at the crease, currently 112 not out, while Fergus O'Neill is currently 34 not out.

  12. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:10 British Summer Time

    Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 12-0 (trail by 259 runs)

And that is lunch with Glamorgan withstanding three overs of Middx probing.

Both sides can be quite happy with their morning's work with Glamorgan taking 5-117 and Middx rattling the game situation along as quick as they could.

Toby Roland-Jones epitomised the approach with a swashbuckling 31 before calling time on the innings nine down.

Middlesex remain on pole and will be hoping for early inroads after lunch.

  13. 300 runs

300 for Nottinghamshirepublished at 13:09 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 v Notts 305-6

Three emphatic fours during the 83rd over by Nottinghamshire's Fergus O'Neill sees him move to 33 and Nottinghamshire surpass the 300 mark.

  14. wicket

    Sibley c&b Coles 82 (Sussex 435 v Surrey 213-2, trail by 222)

Dom Sibley has hit that pretty hard but the spin was just enough to mean he misdirected that drive and James Coles has held on well off his own bowling.

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcestershire 202 & 1-1

Jamie Porter takes a wicket for ESsexImage source, Rex Features

Kashif Ali is off the mark with a single and Jake Libby negotiates the final three balls of Jamie Porter's over as Essex end the morning on a high against Worcestershire.

The home side added 84 to their overnight 233-6 to leave the visitors facing a target of 295 for victory and the second-ball loss of Gareth Roderick was an immediate setback to their chances of doing so.

Noah Thain made 54, his maiden first-class half-century, for Essex and Shane Snater hit a six and five fours in a bright 48 before their second innings came to an end, Tom Taylor and Matthew Waite taking three wickets each.

  16. INJURYpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 v Notts 285-6

We have a brief stoppage in play at Edgbaston as Haseeb Hameed, currently 111 not out, is hit in a rather tender region by a quick one from Michael Booth.

The physio is on and a new box is needed for Hameed.

  17. Gay departs for 152published at 12:59 British Summer Time

    Durham 367-6 v Yorkshire 307

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Batting suddenly looks all the more difficult since Yorkshire introduced the new ball 10 overs ago.

It produced its first wicket three and a half overs in as Ollie Robinson, who has been struggling for form for a few months, fell lbw to Jack White for 16.

Emilio Gay was then dropped at mid-wicket on 150, by Jordan Thompson, off the bowling of George Hill. But the bowler got him three deliveries later as the ball clattered into his off stump with the batsman on 152.

And moments ago Will Rhodes fell lbw for 13 to Ben Sears, to continue his poor run of form at the start of the season.

    Roderick lbw Porter 0 (Worcs 0-1 - target 295)

Four slips in place as Jamie Porter opens up for Essex.

Gareth Roderick's defensive prod is beaten by a little bit of nip back and he is gone second ball for a duck.

Kashif Ali joins Jake Libby in the middle.

    Abbott c Rew b Pretorius 20 (Somerset 184 v Hants 306-9)

A short ball from Migael Pretorius gets a feather-like touch from Kyle Abbott who is caught behind by James Rew for a quick fire 20 off just 11 balls.

It's Pretorius' fifth wicket of the innings. Hampshire lead by 122 runs with one wicket remaining.
