Noah Thain angles a low full toss in towards Adam Hose's pads and the Worcestershire batsman flicks it away for four.

But there's absolutely nothing wrong with that one which strikes Hose on the back leg and the umpire says 'you're out of here'.

  2. Postpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 61-1

Exactly 20 overs gone at the Utilita Bowl and Somerset have began their second innings steadily, losing just one wicket.

Time for a bit of spin - Liam Dawson is on for his first over.

  3. Update on Lamb injurypublished at 15:19 British Summer Time

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 300-3 (trail by 135 runs)

Sussex do not expect Danny Lamb to play any further part in his game after he was pinged by a short one from Surrey seamer Dan Worrall on day two.

The all-rounder was hit on the right shoulder and while precautionary x-rays last night revealed no break there was bad enough bruising to ensure he will play no further part in this game.

Lamb missed a big part of last season's campaign after having surgery on his shoulder in July but a spokesman confirmed this setback is not related to the previous injury.

Straight out of the MJK Smith 'how to play cricket' textbook.

A classic cover drive by Adam Hose greets Shane Snater at the start of a new over and brings him four runs.

Hose follows that with a straight drive which deflects into the stumps at the bowler's end off Snater's right boot, but partner Kashif Ali still has his bat behind the line.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 15:12 British Summer Time

Derbyshire have begun their second innings after Northants declared on 500-8 and are 27-0 in the sixth over, 166 behind.

Ben Charlesworth has departed for 58 at Canterbury, caught by Zak Crawley after a loose drive from the bowling of Jack Leaning. Gloucestershire are 93-2, 172 ahead.

And he brings it up in fine style by clearing the ropes over midwicket after Ollie Robinson fires another in short.

For good measure he goes 6-dot-6 with another big 'un over the same section of rope.

Entertaining stuff from the two former England men and Surrey are up to 300, two batting points and just 135 behind.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time

    Davies c James b Hutton 2 (Warwicks 93 & 11-1 v Notts 367)

Alex Davies has to go once more. He edges a good one from Brett Hutton and the ball flies to Lyndon James at third slip.

That's just four runs in total in the match by Warwickshire's opening batsman.

1 gone, 9 to go for the visitors.

Following his maiden first-class 50 this morning, it's time for Noah Thain to have his first bowl of the Worcestershire second innings.

Certainly plenty of energy in his action, but a short-wide delivery is given the treatment it deserved by Kashif Ali, who is now 31 not out.

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 286-3 (trail by 149 runs)

This is good stuff between Ollie Robinson and Dan Lawrence.

The Sussex bowler is firing in short ball after short ball but Lawrence is equal to it, either ducking under them, or, in that instance, hook-pulling it over the ropes behind square.

It will not improve Robinson's mood or reduce the reddening on the cheeks of sub George Thomas who dropped him on 35.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time

    Vaughan c Hampton b Fuller 24 (Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 50-1)

    Big wicket for the hosts.

Archie Vaughan goes to pull a short ball, the shot his dad was so famed for, but it is a lazy effort in truth and he picks out the one fielder in the vicinity - Brett Hampton - who takes a brilliant catch near the boundary.

  11. 50 runs

for Ben Charlesworthpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 90-1

Jack Leaning comes up for a second over of off-spin and Ben Charlesworth drives square for four to reach 50 off 62 balls. Gloucestershire lead by 169.

  12. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time

    Worcs 60-3 - target 295

Adam Hose again takes two steps down the pitch, turning a respectable Jamie Porter delivery into a half-volley and straight drives back past the stumps at the bowler's end for four.

It's a tactic that isn't without risk, but one which can bring rewards if used judiciously.

  13. 300 runs

Division Two updatepublished at 14:58 British Summer Time

    Lancs 263 v Leics 300-3

300 up for the visitors for the loss of just three wickets.

Peter Handscomb has moved past a half-century, currently on 53 not out, while Lewis Hill is unbeaten on 56.

They lead by 37 at Old Trafford.

    Shot.

Shane Snater is too full and Kashif Ali drills it past mid-off for the fifth boundary of his innings.

He is filling the 'man most likely to' role for Worcestershire at the moment.

  15. dropped catch

Lawrence dropped on 35published at 14:56 British Summer Time

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 275-3 (trail by 155 runs)

Oh dear, that was a fairly simple catch and it is the sub fielder George Thomas who has spilled it at deep square leg.

That will not improve moods amongst the Sussex group given there is not a great deal happening here at Hove.

Jayden Seales got a little bit of bounce after changing to the Cromwell Road End and Ollie Robinson has banged in two short ones at Lawrence.

The first was pulled for four and the second he doesn't quite get hold of, lofting it to Thomas six or seven yards in from the square leg rope.

That should have been taken but it got a little over him and his hands got a touch behind his head as he leaned back.

To compound his error, he has left the field two balls later.

  16. Postpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 & 8-0 v Notts 367

Rob Yates hits Warwickshire's first boundary of their second innings - a textbook cover drive through the off-side.

Just the 266 run deficit for the hosts to eat up now.

  17. 'Yorkshire have got to play with good sense and patience'published at 14:51 British Summer Time

    Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 3-0

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Yorkshire will be much happier about life in terms of how they've bowled and taken their opportunities.

They've not been perfect in that respect, they've had a couple gone down as well but they'll be hoping that will give them that bit of a feeling now going out with the bat a second time.

They're going to have to bat well here and it's a good pitch still so they can feel a bit of confidence in that respect. They've just got to play with good sense and patience.

  18. 50 runs

up for Worcestershirepublished at 14:50 British Summer Time

    Worcs 52-3 - target 295

Kashif Ali drives to the left of mid-off and a single takes him to 23 not out and the Worcestershire total to 50.

Adam Hose is trying to take a couple of steps forward to negate any swing and runs Jamie Porter down to third man for a couple of runs.

  19. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 37-0

Kyle Abbott has looked the most likely to make the breakthrough for Hampshire since lunch and has a big appeal for lbw after the ball hits the pads of Sean Dickson but it doesn't interest the umpire.

  20. 50 runs

50published at 14:46 British Summer Time

Fifty for Leicestershire's Lewis Hill who raises his bat to the pavillion at Old Trafford.

The visitors lead by 30 with seven wickets still remaining.
