Edged by Mark Wood and this time Kavem Hodge puts it down at first slip.

He goes to his left, gets both hands to it but can't hold on.

Jayden Seales jumps up and down in frustration. Quite understandably, he is not best pleased.

A little bit of a loose shot, but England are trying to get a move on here. Pitched up, full, wide - he's hit it hard, but straight into the waist of the cover fielder.

  8. wicket

    Root c McKenzie b Holder 122 (Eng 419-8)

Drilled straight to cover. The end of a fabulous Joe Root innings.

It was hung just outside off stump by Jason Holder to start his spell, Root wanted to get a move on and nailed the drive with one knee on the ground.

However, he didn't get over the ball and it goes straight to Kirk KcKenzie at cover.

I'm not quite sure how that shot's got there, but it's four with Andy Zaltzman's coloured pens, and that's all that matters.

Two fielders down, neither can get there. Not the most fluent shot from Joe Root, but he's equalled Ollie Pope's score from the first innings.

  13. Eng 413-7published at 88 overs

One of the few shots that Joe Root has not been in complete control of in this innings - but it brings him four.

Full and wide from Alzarri Joseph, Root aims a full-blooded drive at it and the ball slides off the outside half of the bat, in the air but wide of gully.

Root has probably earned that one.

Atkinson dives, the throw misses - that was circus cricket!

  15. Eng 407-7published at 87 overs

    Root 116, Atkinson 10

Is that the Benny Hill music I hear playing?

A comedy of errors as Joe Root drops the ball into the off side and calls for a single.

He stops, starts again and then turns back. Gus Atkinson is stuck halfway down the pitch and then seems to keep running.

The fielder in the covers misfields but another swoops behind but the shy at the non-striker's end misses as Atkinson dives to make his ground.

Drinks are being taken a little earlier than scheduled, I'm not quite sure why.

For those wondering, an England declaration does not appear imminent with Ollie Pope one of a number of players still in their training gear rather than whites on the balcony.

Gus Atkinson looks like the sort of player that on his day could do a bit of damage. A quick 40 that really tires a bowling attack.
