Shame Rashid can’t bowl all 50 overs, might stand a chance then.

Not sure what we see in Atkinson to be honest. He looks low energy walking back after every ball, not economical, and not taking wickets. Doesn't look like he fits in to our energy of the team.

  4. Ind 228-3published at 35 overs

KL Rahul is next up for India, and pulls his first ball from Rashid into the leg side for a single.

    The centurion falls!

Shubman Gill goes for the sweep without fully getting down and is cleaned up by Adil Rashid.

An abrupt end to a fine innings from Gill.

It's needed two stunning deliveries to take the only two wickets so far. Can Mark Wood or Adil Rashid find any more?

  7. Ind 225-2published at 34 overs

Three more runs from the over, a Wood wide and a couple of singles.

The England seamer is running for 1-29 from his six overs.

India could get even more than 400. England don't have an answer at the moment. They have to keep toiling, have to keep executing their plan and hopefully, they'll get a breakthrough soon.

    Fifty up straight after drinks!

Shreyas Iyer clips Mark Wood's first delivery towards square for a single, bringing up his half-century from 43 balls.

It simultaneously brings up the hundred partnership from 85 deliveries.

    India cruising.

Shubman Gill just quietly goes about his work, he's so nonchalant when batting. There's no real weakness about him so it makes it really hard to play against. Every time he takes a risk, it seems like it's the right one.

In the T20 and now in the one-day games pace isn't the answer, so what has Rehan Ahmed done to not get a game? He is a talent and can bat so why keep going with pace that is not working? He should be playing instead of Atkinson.

No half century for Shreyas in this over, who bats out three dot balls from Rashid before taking a single.

That brings Shubman Gill back on strike for the final ball of the over, and he smacks a lovely controlled drive over long-off for six.

    The players will take drinks.

Buttler’s obsession with bowling first when there is a flat track underneath a blazing sun is utterly bizarre. Our gun top order must be gutted they never get first use of the conditions. 400 incoming.

And now Shreyas gets in on the action, smacking a lofted drive through long-off for his sixth four.

Another single takes him to 48 - another lofted bat imminent?

    And there's the century!

He times Mark Wood's delivery superbly through mid-wicket for four, bringing up his landmark from 95 balls.

It's his seventh ODI hundred for India.

  16. Ind 202-2published at 31 overs

That's India's 200 up, as Shubman Gill sends Livingstone's delivery out to point for a single.

Another single at the end of the over sees him retain the strike and move to 98.

They say you should target doubling your score at 30 overs - 400 on for India?

Re: John from Newcastle (9:42), I fear that we will be flat track bullies at home this summer and think everything is OK again. We do need more variation and this winter has shown it. Mind you, we could all do with a win or two at home this summer, eh?

But this over goes better for India.

Shreyas clips Mahmood's first ball through fine leg for four, then picks up another boundary later in the over with an ugly chop through an empty cordon.

One positive for England is that their first game in the Champions Trophy is against an Australian side shorn of Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, Marsh and Stoinis. Although they’ve lulled us into a false sense of hope before now...

  20. Ind 189-2published at 29 overs

A better over for England as Livingstone's sixth over goes for two runs.

Pete's message below also contained a recommendation for a mattress brand, which I'm grateful for... but it is another memory foam one.

Maybe I have Victorian sensibilities, but I think I need something harder.
