Summary

  1. Eng 80-1published at 8.2 overs

The quality and athleticism of India's fielding has been a theme of this series. Big fast bowler Harshit Rana is the latest to get down well to prevent a boundary but there's no stopping the next one as Phil Salt hammers the ball through the covers.

  2. dropped catch

Banton dropped on 7published at 8 overs

    Eeeek.

Banton's return is very nearly over already as he comes down the pitch to Washington Sundar, aims big and only manages a thin snick.

Luckily for England, KL Rahul's gloves hardly move. The ball flicks them and runs down for four.

Showing my age but when I think of the best batsman on one leg I always think of Gordon Greenidge.

    Jason, Cambridge

I’m thinking back to Gordon Greenidge. He was more than a handful when playing with an injured leg!

    Welcome back, Tom Banton.

His first boundary back on the international scene is a switch hit for six off spinner Washington Sundar.

A heady start from Duckett on one leg but settling down and building some partnerships might be a good idea. India's innings was based on two 100+ stands. That's one of the things England have missed on this tour so far.

Ben Duckett has at least given England a start. The required run-rate has come down slightly to 6.8.

England's number three is not Joe Root but Tom Banton, who is playing his first international innings for three years.

Well it was fun while it lasted...

A stricken Ben Duckett has to hobble off for treatment on that groin after miscuing an Arshdeep Singh slower ball.

There have to be questions about Duckett's place at the Champions Trophy given that apparent groin issue.

Duckett's limp continues to get worse but for now it's not stopping him scoring.

I can't work out to make of the fact he's batting.

Did he not think it was too bad so wandered out? Or does he know he's crocked so is going to go down swinging?

The best batting performances come when the batsman can’t move their legs! Thinking Maxwell vs Afghanistan, stand and deliver Ben Duckett!

The injury is just causing this to feel a bit manic.

    Four byes sneak through now.

Rohit Sharma switches to spin early. Here's Washington Sundar.

  12. Eng 48-0published at 5 overs

Duckett can only laugh as he hobbles, having missed the final ball by a mile.

Remember England's Champions Trophy opener is 10 days away. Their final group game is a week after that.

  13. Eng 48-0published at 4.5 overs

Ben Duckett cannot walk, his limp is getting worse, but he certainly can pull and cut.

Make that four fours in a row.

Martin's not convinced but if these two keep this up, they could knock a decent chunk off the chase.

Ben Duckett limps and chews on his gum after crashing three more fours.

No chance for England. They will fall far short of 357. However they have a benchmark now in all these games against India. McCallum will be under no illusion how far the white ball team deteriorated under Mott. Much better foundations to build from to address the huge gap in quality between these two sides.

There have only been two singles so far, probably an indication of England's tactics but also the state of Ben Duckett's groin.

Phil Salt swings hard at his former IPL team-mate Harshit again and Rohit Sharma soon gives up the chase.

It has been a decent start.

Why are people finding it difficult to understand that Root has bowled today because England intend to use more batting in Pakistan which means overs need to come from the likes of Root especially with Bethell out. His first overs can't come in the tournament! Mark Wood is not a death bowler because he has no variations and the ball would fly all over with no swing at the end of the innings.

Inside edge this time. Four more to Ben Duckett.

    He's going to keep swinging.

  19. Eng 22-0published at 3.1 overs

A scoop for four by Ben Duckett...

He's still limping but is scoring well for now.

  20. Eng 18-0published at 3 overs

    Target 357

Arshdeep Singh has this new ball moving and this big crowd ooohing as he builds the dots to Phil Salt.

Despite four leg byes it's looking like a good over from India's left-arm quick until Salt clatters the final ball for four.
