England wait far too long to bring on Sophie Ecclestone. She is the best bowler in the world. Get her on and bowl the Aussies out earlier.

I'm disappointed how the last game went. I still think England could win the Ashes but it's important they win today.

The last instance was in Mumbai the 2013 ICC Women's World Cup in Mumbai on 8th Feb 2013. Australia were 28-4 after 10 overs, and were bowled out for 147. England though got close to the target with 145 in response, losing the game by two runs.

  8. Aus 61-4published at 16 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt with another tight over keeps the pressure on Australia.

England went review crazy in the first four overs. Might that come back to bite them?

Ash Gardner the new batter for Australia and she gets off the mark with a single as Charlie Dean wraps up an impressive over. The off-spinner has 1-10 off three overs thus far.

Big wicket there. Annabel Sutherland just looking to try and push the attack after drinks, well bowled and really good catch.

    Drinks bring wickets!

Annabel Sutherland had looked in good touch but drills Charlie Dean straight into the hands of Sophie Ecclestone at mid-off. A decent diving grab from Ecclestone.

England need to put their foot on the throat of Australia now.

  12. drinks break

Australia 58-3 at drinkspublished at 14 overs

Great start for England but as Sarah says...Australia just bat so so deep.

It's a real luxury for Australia to have such depth in their batting order.

  14. Aus 58-3published at 14 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt is largely keeping the stumps in play, but gives Annabel Sutherland something to work with on her pads with penultimate delivery of her fourth over.

The Aussie all-rounder cashes in, whipping it stylishly behind square for four.

England have continued their excellent form with the new ball. In 23 completed ODIs since the start of 2023, England have taken 2+ wickets in 15 matches.

They average 23.5 runs conceded per dismissal in the first 10 overs in this timeline - the best of all teams since the start of 2023, picking a wicket once in every 30 deliveries.

  17. Aus 54-3published at 13 overs

Annabel Sutherland does not want Charlie Dean to settle into any kind of rhythm as she breaks a run of 12 consecutive dot balls from England with a boundary.

The Aussie all-rounder skips down the pitch to Dean's third delivery an thwacks the ball back over her head for four.

Australia might be three down but that aggressive risk-taking intent is still there.

I thought Charlie Dean bowled really well the other day. She didn't get any wickets but she kept it really tight which gave her teammate at the other end really good chances.

  19. Aus 47-3published at 12 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt is operating round the wicket to Beth Mooney, attempting to cramp the Aussie left-hander for room. Six dots from NSB do the trick.

Smart stuff from England. They are on top here.

Annabel Sutherland has reached double figures in both previous ODIs before losing her wicket. She's been particularly strong down the ground.
