  1. 'Game - and title - in the balance'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 321

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

What a splendidly enthralling morning's cricket, as the game swung one way, then the other, and ended up just about level.

We had six wickets for Archie Vaughan, another four for Jack Leach and a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Tom Curran, whose 86 from 75 balls, including six massive sixes, has kept Surrey very firmly in the game, after they'd lost their eighth wicket at 228, still 79 behind.

It's now effectively a one innings game, with Surrey having to bat last on a turning pitch. This game, and with it the County Championship, is still very much in the balance.

Zafar will face Luke Hollman to start the session.

Later this afternoon England will be in action at Utilita Bowl as they face Australia in their first T20 international.

And it is an extra special day for Hampshire's home...they are switching on their 1,044 solar panels in a bid to become the "the greenest ground in the world".

It is believed the panels will save the venue, formerly known as the Ageas Bowl and the Rose Bowl, a six-figure sum each year in electricity costs - as well as 80 tonnes of carbon.

Sustainable AND saving the county money.

In light of Archie Vaughan's six-wicket heroics for Somerset, we've been asking (see 12:21 entry) if they could become England's best ever father and son duo...

  5. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 321

The seventh session of this match has rattled along at a frantic pace.

A sleepy start gave way to a Surrey collapse, losing five wickets for 32 runs to the spin of Jack Leach and Archie Vaughan (6-102) who became the youngest Somerset bowler to take a championship five-for since the great Ian Botham.

Tom Curran looked all at sea before smashing eight sixes in a stunning counter-attack to give Surrey a four-run first-innings lead.

That looked unlikely when wobbling on 228-8.

  6. SURREY ALL OUT FOR 321published at 13:00 British Summer Time 11 September
    Breaking

    Curran c Gregory b Leach

Tom Curran goes for one more big hit and finally perishes.

He looks to club Jack Leach back over his head, but is caught in the deep by Lewis Gregory at long on.

Curran goes for an electrifying 86 off 75 balls and Leach finishes with 4-105.

  7. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 321-9

Tom Curran swings Archie Vaughan straight over his head for four and Surrey have the lead.

They nearly always find a way. They say it's what champions do.

And Curran has been the man to do it. The last two wickets have added 93 runs.

This could go a long way to securing a third straight title.

  8. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 316-9

Jack Leach has six balls at Dan Worrall as Somerset sense a chance to end the innings.

The England spinner throws his hands in the air as a poor ball gifts Worrall a single to get off strike,

Tom Curran decides he has faith in his partner and picks up an easy single from the next ball.

Worrall blocks out the next three. The lead is one.

  9. Another good session for Sussexpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 491 v Glamorgan 186 & 26-1

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Another good session for the Division Two leaders with Tom Clark battling his way to an undefeated first century of the season.

Clark has struggled in the number three spot this season, but Sussex’s faith in his undoubted ability was rewarded with an innings that spanned just over five hours.

Glamorgan opener Asa Tribe bagged a pair, edging a ball he should have left to keeper Simpson, but Billy Root and Colin Ingram survived a torrid seven overs against Robinson and Unadkat to reach the break just one wicket down

Tom Curran has taken the bull by the horns and is dragging Surrey towards parity.

Luck is on his side, however, as he looks to smash Archie Vaughan through the covers but a bottom-edge squirts a whisker away from the off stump.

Curran has 80 from just 66 balls.

The Somerset lead is down to a meagre three.

  12. Surrey collect second batting pointpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 308-9

Tom Curran leans back and smashes Jack Leach back over his head into the pavilion to take Surrey past 300.

Two balls later he goes again. Kasey Aldridge is in position to take the catch in front of the Andy Caddick Pavilion, but the bowler's momentum carries him over the rope.

That's an EIGHTH six from Curran and takes him to 74.

  13. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 11 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 128 & 57-1

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Worcester

Worcestershire's morning, no doubt about that.

But fair play to Warwickshire, they have battled back well over the second hout of the session.

After losing their last six wickets inside 54 minutes and then opener Rob Yates second time around, Alex Davies and Will Rhodes have made it look a little easier.

As per usual, the Kookaburra ball has lost its early fiercesomeness - and Rhodes (30) and Davies, with a marvellously restrained 22 off 51 balls, have had few alarms.

But then they have so far faced only four overs of Tom Taylor, who was late retaking the field after his early morning exploits.

On-loan Surrey spinner Amar Virdi had a quick trundle too, taking the last over before lunch.

  14. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 93 & 1-0

Well, the Notts' second innings lasted just one over before lunch was taken!

What was the point of that? Unless there's a bit of rain in the air, could be the reason.

Anyway, the bowling heroics of Jamie Porter and Simon Harmer have put Essex in a hugely strong position - and left relegation-battling Notts in a real pickle.

They need to bat out the rest of days three and four - a daunting task when you've just lost nine wickets in a session.

  15. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 260-7

Zafar gohar gives Gloucestershire a bit of hope and something to cheer about as he is back to part time spinner Sam Robson to swat the ball over square leg for six runs.

He'll keep the strikes with a single off the last ball to move to 60 not out.

The follow on is saved but the innings gap remains a substantial one.

    117 at present.

  16. Lunch at Hovepublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 491 v Glamorgan 186 & 26-1

Glamorgan avoid further damage before lunch as Colin Ingram picks up his second four of the innings off Ollie Robinson.

Ingram is unbeaten on 12, while Billy Root has 13 as Glamorgan go to lunch needing another 279 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

Earlier Tom Clark moved to his third first-class ton as Sussex piled up 491, with Ben Kellaway picking up his first senior five-wicket haul.

    Durham 514-4 v Lancs 228

A thoroughly dispiriting session of play for Lancashire comes to an end.

The Red Rose haven't taken a wicket since yesterday afternoon.

David Bedingham is 251 not out, six runs short of his highest score for Durham.

He needs another 23 to set a new record for the highest individual score for any player representing the club.

Colin Ackermann has the small matter of 180 and the fifth wicket partnership is worth an unbroken 415.

It has not been a bowler's morning.

  18. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 151-8 v Hampshire 403

Kent keep their first innings going until at least lunch.

It was all going serenely when Ben Compton and Harry Finch were batting, and then Kyle Abbott returned.

The burly South African got both of Compton and Finch before Liam Dawson bowled Charlie Stobo.

Kent are still 102 runs from avoiding the follow-on.

  19. Essex enforce follow-onpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 93 & 1-0

    Little surprise.

Essex sniff victory - they took nine wickets in less than two hours this morning. Continue at that rate and they'll have things wrapped up by tea.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Zafar Gohar and Gloucestershire batting pointpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 250-7

Zafar Gohar hs done a fine rescue act for Gloucestershire here, who nonetheless remain a long way back.

He reaches his 50 driving Josh de Caires through the off side for a single.

    108 balls with seven fours.

The 250 comes up in the next over (the 74th) bowled by Sam Robson via a back foot drive from Zafar through cover.
