  1. 100 runs

100 up for Sussexpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 23 May

    Hants 154 v Sussex 100-5

A single off the bat of John Simpson and the bowling of Kyle Abbott brings up three figures for the visitors who now trail by 54.

  2. Big shout!published at 18:22 British Summer Time 23 May

    Yorks 6-1 v Notts 228

Dillon Pennington has a very good shout as Finley Bean is clipped on his pad in line with off stump.

Umpire Paul Baldwin has a think about it but shakes his head. Was it a touch on the high side? Replays suggest it was possibly missing.

  3. Postpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 23 May

    Worcestershire 38-0 v Warwickshire 227

Chris Woakes has just completed his first over since January.

After five dots, he drops short and down the leg side and Jake Libby nudges it down to fine leg for four.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 26.4 overs

    Patterson c Walter b Porter 51 (Surrey 88-2 v Essex 217)

    And they have it......

Two balls after reaching his 50, Kurtis Patterson attempts another drive and edges to Paul Walter at third slip.

Tom Lawes comes out as a nightwatch for Surrey with six and a bit overs to go.

  5. Postpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 23 May

    Hants 154 v Sussex 99-5

John Simpson and Fynn Hudson-Prentice have thrown the anchors overboard as they try to get to the close without the loss of another wicket.

The skipper was joined by F H-P nearly 11 overs ago and they have put on 16 as they close on three figures.

There are four overs to come tonight, spin on with Liam Dawson wheeling away as shadows lengthen, close fielders crowding the bat and no shots being played.

    It's sensible stuff from Sussex.

  6. 50 runs

for Kurtis Pattersonpublished at 26.2 overs

    Surrey 88-1 v Essex 217

Two innings for Surrey, two half centuries.

Kurtis Patterson follows his 85 last week by reaching 50 off 69 balls with a cover drive for four from the bowling of Jamie Porter.

Essex badly need a wicket before the close.

  7. Postpublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 277 v Somerset 55-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The balance just shifting with two wickets in the last few overs without a run added.

Good piece of bowling by Killeen.

James Rew is coming out now at number five with seven balls to get through, effectively it should just be one ball, even if Jack Leach cannot get through the last over that would be it for the day.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 23 May

    Lammonby c Robinson b Killeen 18 (Durham 277 v Somerset 55-3)

    Durham have nabbed another!

It's a big moment for Mitchell Killeen as he picks up his first first-class wicket.

It's a cracker too. Zips off the surface and flicks the shoulder of Tom Lammonby's bat as he plays forward.

    Ollie Robinson does the rest.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 90.1 overs

    Northeast b Higgins 122 (Glamorgan 317-6 v Middlesex)

That looked like a tired shot by Sam Northeast, and the ball may have kept a little low too.

He plays across the line and is cleaned up by Ryan Higgins, bringing to an end a 316-minute innings in which Northeast faced 262 balls and hit a six and 10 fours.

One becomes two as Higgins then removes Timm van der Gugten for a duck, caught by Ben Geddes.

  10. Close of play at Derbypublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 23 May

    Derbyshire 352-2 v Kent

Derbyshire collect their third batting point with a single for Wayne Madsen off Grant Stewart a couple of overs before the close at the County Ground.

Madsen ends on 30 not out but the day belongs to opener Caleb Jewell who has been there from the start for his 152 not out.

He put on 99 for the first wicket with David Lloyd, who made exactly 50, and 196 with Harry Came, who was unluckily run out for 89 when a drive by Jewell was deflected into the stumps by bowler Jake Ball.

A tough day for Kent and Derbyshire will be setting their sights on 500 plus on day two.

  11. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 23 May

    Yorks 6-1 v Notts 228

Yorkshire would love to get through to the end of play without losing another wicket so it will be no surprise to see few risks taken in the six overs which remain tonight.

Finley Bean is yet to score and James Wharton has four. Mo Abbas has other ideas and has the ball in hand at the Kirkstall Lane End.

  12. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 277 v Somerset 55-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Just when it looked like they had done their job for the day, Josh Davey has to go.

It looks like Jack Leach coming out to bat with less than three overs to go here tonight.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 23 May

    Davey c McKinney b Yusuf 24 (Durham 277 v Somerset 55-2)

Josh Davey perishes having looked in decent touch.

It's a very good ball from Codi Yusuf though who shapes one away at the last second to take the outside edge and give Ben McKinney a dolly at first slip.

If Durham could nab another before the close...

  14. Postpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 23 May

    Surrey 72-1 v Essex 217

    Roland Butcher
Former England batter on BBC London

That has gone through the gap straight for four.

    Perfect length draws the edge.

These two have steadied the ship.

50 run partnership is up off 101 balls.

  15. Postpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 23 May

    Surrey 73-1 v Essex 217

Kurtis Patterson - the second KP to play on this ground for Surrey (unless there are more) - gets away with one as a thick edge flies to the left of second slip and away for four. Another couple for the left-hander later in the over bring up a 50 partnership with Dom Sibley.

  16. 50 runs

for Somersetpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 277 v Somerset 50-1

Tom Lammonby and Josh Davey ticking along for Somerset as the shadows grow at Chester le Street towards stumps.

The two have brought the 50 up taking the score from 13-1 following the departure of skipper Lewis Gregory.

Lammonby is starting to time the ball sweetly judging by the pureness of the sound it's making off his bat.

He's hit three fours in his 18 with Davey 20 not out.

  17. Postpublished at 23 overs

    Surrey 67-1 v Essex 217

It's not a stroke he is known to favour but that is a lovely flowing drive through point by Dom Sibley, which brings him four runs off Jamie Porter.

By way of contrast, he fishes at the last ball of the over with his bat a long way from the body and is very fortunate not to get a nick.

There are 10 overs of play remaining.

  18. 50 partnership for Derbyshirepublished at 90.4 overs

    Derbyshire 346-2 v Kent

That's pretty much an agricultural slog by Wayne Madsen, but he makes good enough contact to find the boundary off Matt Parkinson as he and Caleb Jewell bring up a 50 stand from 60 balls.

  19. wicket

    Lyth c Verreynne b Abbas 2 (Yorks 2-1 v Notts 228)

Mo Abbas takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Adam Lyth did his level best to suggest he had not got a nick on that but everyone else was convinced.

That is a 10th wicket for Mo Abbas since his switch to Notts and a bad start for Yorkshire as they chase down 228.

Lyth's importance to this Yorkshire batting line up cannot be underestimated. He has two centuries and four half centuries already this campaign.

His two is his lowest of the season.

  20. Postpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 23 May

    Worcestershire 20-0 v Warwickshire 227

Steady start by Pears openers Gareth Roderick and Jake Libby.

They'll know it'll be a test against the Bears excellent attack - boosted by having fit again duo Chris Woakes and Chris Rushworth back.

Woakes will bowl in due course, but Rushworth's first over since September has been typically on the money.

His only slight error - a marginal over-pitched delivery - was nicely timed away through the covers by Libby for his first boundary.
