WICKETpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 23 May

    Sales c Price b Van Buuren 81 (Northamptonshire 205-5 v Gloucestershire)

After 213 minutes of concentration, James Sales has had a bit of a focus slip and it's cost him.

The delivery from left-arm spinner Graeme van Buuren is nothing special - in fact it's pretty unspecial - short and wide.

Sales goes back to pull it through mid-wicket but mistimes it and picks out Ollie Price at mid-on.

A top knock though from Sales, who leaves with his side in a much better position that when he came in.

In case you were wondering what's happening in the Test at Trent Bridge, Zimbabwe are 246-5, replying to England's 565-6 declared.

Ben Stokes and Shoaib Bashir have two wickets each but opening bat Brian Bennett is 139 not out and virtually a run per ball.

    BBC Hereford & Worcester

To lose only five in two sessions at New Road this session is a good effort.

Just one run from the first two overs since tea.

  4. Division Two updatepublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 23 May

Kent are now utilising spin at both ends but they are still to break this big Derbyshire partnership - Caleb Jewell is 113 not out, Harry Came has 80 and the home side are 274-1 after 74 overs.

They are into the fifth over since tea in Cardiff and Glamorgan are now 228-3 against Middlesex, with Sam Northeast 87 not out and Kiran Carlson 80.

Lancashire are 189-8 against Leicestershire at Grace Road with Tom Hartley and Anderson Phillip together in the middle.

  5. 200 runs

up for Northantspublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 23 May

    Northamptonshire 200-4 v Gloucestershire

Northants move to within 50 of a batting point as they start nicely after tea.

James Sales and Saif Zaib continue to look in good shape after batting through the afternoon session together.

Sales takes the single that brings up the 200.

    Nottinghamshire batsman Joe Clarke

Joe Clarke's return to form continues with a half century as he scrambles a single to a fumble by backward point.

It has been 170 minutes and 123 balls which by his standards is stodgy but it has been a knock for the circumstances.

It has been a trying start to the season for the 28-year-old as he has repeatedly fallen short as his teammates have shared around the spoils.

Scores of 37, 35, 16, 19, 4, 19, 6, 11 and 1 were hugely frustrating before a 119 in the second innings against Durham in the last round.

To back that up with another decent score in difficult conditions will further boost his confidence.

It has helped Notts from 65-2 and 121-5 and his partnership with Lyndon James is now up to 66.

  7. What's a par score on this track?published at 16:37 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 243-9 v Somerset

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We watched Durham score their highest FC total at this ground last weekend. Today I am not sure they will reach 300.

They won the toss and decided to bat but despite a few starts, nobody has gone on to a big score. Ollie Robinson's 52 is the best so far.

The track has quite a bit of uneven bounce and a few deliveries have been shooting through to the keeper. It's difficult to know what a good score is on it.

Matt Henry has taken 4-50, with three of the wickets coming in wicket maidens in the first over of a spell.

Somerset tied up the three bowling points after 64.5 overs. Durham are seven away from a batting point.

  8. Postpublished at 1.5 overs

    Surrey 6-0 v Essex 217

An easy boundary for Dom Sibley as Shane Snater strays onto his pads and he flicks it to square leg.

It was aerial but there was no Essex fielder anywhere near it.

  9. Minto 'looks a compact, perfectly capable batsman.'published at 16:33 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 243-9 v Somerset)

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Pleasant late afternoon, hazy sunshine with a veil of cloud overhead.

There's really been nothing in this pitch so far for spin bowlers yet as Jack Leach toils to James Minto.

He looks a compact, perfectly capable batsman.

Don't forget Minto's nightwatcher heroics last round

  10. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 23 May

    Northamptonshire 184-4 v Gloucestershire

    James SalesImage source, Getty Images

Terrific response from the home side who add 113 without losing a wicket.

James Sales (72) and Saif Zaib (56) have put on 127 so far without too much trouble after coming together at a rocky 57-4.

Cameron Bancroft has shifted through seven bowlers to try to conjure a wicket but to no avail.

The Australian needs to lift his players during the break.

  11. Postpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 23 May

    Surrey 0-0 v Essex 217

Sizeable clouds overhead at The Oval as we near the start of the Surrey first innings.

Unlike the home side, Essex do have a spinner in their line-up and he is arguable the best in the county business - Simon Harmer - but they need their seamers to capitalise on this pitch and make some early inroads into the top order.

Jamie Porter will bowl the first over.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 23 May

    Bailey b van Beek 17 (Leics v Lancs 176-8)

Leics are back out hunting Lancashire wickets as the final session is under way and it has got off to a terrible start for the visitors

Toms Bailey and Hartley needed to stick around because aside from an opening partnership of 74, it has been a sorry tale for the visitors.

But Bailey has left one from Logan van Beek which has come back in and cleaned up his off stump to give the bowler a third and Leics an eighth.

  13. 100 runs

for Caleb Jewellpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 23 May

    Derbys 244-1 v Kent

There it is - Caleb Jewell paddle sweeps Matt Parkinson for a single and reaches his first Derbyshire century, and eighth in first-class cricket, off 179 balls.

The Australian has hit 10 fours in this innings and he and Harry Came have added 145 for the second wicket.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 23 May

    Killeen c Gregory b Henry 0 (Durham 227-9 v Somerset)

    Mitch Killeen's first-class debut ends with a 15-ball duck.

It's a waft at one from Matt Henry, who's put a tempter on a plate and Lewis Gregory has completed the job at first slip.

Henry has a fourth wicket. Somerset one away from starting their reply.

  15. Tea at New Roadpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 23 May

    Worcestershire v Warwickshire 182-5

117 runs added for three wickets for Warwickshire, who will still feel they have control as long as Sam Hain stays in.

The England white-ball batter has been the Pears nemesis in that version of the game and has brought that form into this match.

Hain has moved through the gears like a dream reaching his first half-century of the summer and will enjoy his tea and cake on 76.

The rapid loss of Beau Webster and Pears old boy Ed Barnard for a duck gave Worcestershire hope and they know if they can get rid of Hain early on in the final session, they can get right back into this.

  16. Tea at Sophia Gardenspublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 23 May

    Glamorgan 215-3 v Middlesex

Following their struggles against the new ball this morning, it has been an excellent afternoon for Glamorgan in Cardiff.

Sam Northeast and Kiran Carlson have added 144 without being parted, hitting nine boundaries each so far.

Northeast is 83 not out and Carlson has 72 and Welsh supporters will be hoping they can keep this going through the evening session.

  17. Postpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 23 May

    Worcestershire v Warwickshire 180-5

A scare for Sam Hain close to tea as they all go up for lbw.

Ethan Brookes is convinced as the ball hits Hain on the pads as the right hander tries to work it leg side.

Gareth Roderick and slips erupt too. It looks very, very close (even italics can't tell you how close that was).

Umpire, and former Pears seamer, Jack Shantry says no though.

  18. Good afternoon for Somersetpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 227-8 v Somerset - tea

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A good afternoon for Somerset's seamers, as they picked up five Durham wickets at the cost of 131 runs.

All of the Durham batsmen barring Alex Lees have made a start, but none has yet gone on to make a really substantial contribution.

The pitch has played a part in that, with some inconsistent bounce, and 227-8 may prove to be a rather better score than it looks at first sight.

  19. Sussex with another fluent batting line-uppublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 23 May

    Hants 154 v Sussex 13-2

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Another change in the Sussex batting order as James Coles is now batting at four.

Remember Jack Carson batted at three last week at Taunton having tonned up in his previous game. Sussex with another fluid batting line-up.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 23 May

    Carter c Brown b Wheal 8 (Hants 154 v Sussex 13-2)

And this game is moving on at pace.

Both openers have now gone with Oli Carter falling to a decent ball from Brad Wheal.

Very nice line and length from the South African-born Scotland seamer and Carter's tentative prod takes a healthy edge and flies chest high to Ben Brown's right.

Plenty going on in this match.
