  1. Ind 158-1published at 26 overs

Ayabonga Khaka leaked 29 runs during her three powerplay overs.

She starts her second spell in tidier fashion, conceding two singles from her first four balls.

However, a no ball brings about a free hit, although Shafali Verma can't capitalise as Khaka bowls a wide line. The India opener makes no mistake with the final ball of the over, however, smacking up and over cover for four.

    Pressure released.

    Thanks Sam.

India have a projected score north of 330 at the moment. It would be a hefty total and South Africa, having elected to bowl, will be mightily disappointed with how this final is going.

But it's worth remembering Australia lost after posting 338 at this very ground only a couple of days ago. How many will India feel comfortable with?

    Verma 78, Rodrigues 18

Whatever the physio did seems to have worked!

Shafali Verma hammers the ball back over Sune Luus' head and it lands on the boundary cushion - six!

This is now her highest ODI score and there could be no better time to do it.

Can she kick on and really make South Africa pay for that drop? To find out, here is Elizabeth Botcherby to take you through the second half of the innings.

Shafali Verma is up to 71 and has equalled her highest ODI score.

But she seems to be struggling with something, my money would be on cramp, and the physio is out to give her a bit of treatment.

  6. Ind 140-1published at 24 overs

Singles all the way for India as Chloe Tryon rattles through another over.

Nearly halfway through this innings and South Africa may be starting to regret bowling first...

The two iterations of the opening partnership for India have been utterly dominant through this World Cup. They have scored 671 at an average of 84, with three century opening stands. They have been head and shoulders above al other teams in this competition.

This India pair are happy to push the singles in Sune Luus' latest over.

After a strong start, it's now about giving themselves the best possible platform from which to spring late in the innings.

  9. Ind 129-1published at 22 overs

Too short from Chloe Tryon and Shafali Verma swats the ball away through backward square leg for four.

Every run she scores from here will hurt South Africa - and Anneke Bosch, in particular.

  10. Ind 122-1published at 21 overs

Instead of having two new batters to bowl at, South Africa have a newly-focused Shafali Verma to deal with now.

And the one new batter they do have to bowl at is Jemimah Rodrigues, still on a high from her heroics against Australia, and she shows some of that form with a drive through the covers for four.

The fielder in the deep looked favourite to stop it but the ball just kept going. She really middled that.

That was a bad drop from Anneke Bosch. She has to be taking that. But that might switch Shafali Verma back on.

    Ind 115-1

    Oh dear, oh dear.

Huge let-off for Shafali Verma and that was the wicket that South Africa really wanted.

The India opener goes for a slog-sweep, gets a top edge and the ball goes high into the leg side.

Anneke Bosch has to come in a few yards from the boundary but gets there in plenty of time and it looks a simple chance... but she grasses it!

  13. Ind 114-1published at 20 overs

There's a pained expression on Chloe Tryon's face as she walks back to bowl the last ball of her over.

She isn't far away from striking with that delivery as a leading edge from Jemimah Rodrigues loops into the off side but lands short of the fielder.

  14. Ind 111-1published at 19 overs

All the ones. India are 111-1 after five singles from Sune Luus' latest.

South Africa will be delighted to have made the breakthrough but they could do with another one or two given how comfortable India are looking.

Verma reaches half-century against South Africa

Shafali Verma hits down the ground for a single to bring up her fifth ODI half-century - none more important than this in a World Cup final.

She gets there from 49 balls and there are huge cheers from the sea of blue shirts in Nav Mumbai.

They were already in fine voice having welcomed Jemimah Rodrigues, the star of India's incredible win over Australia, to the crease.

That opening partnership was 104 runs off 111 balls, and that is India's highest partnership for any wicket in a World Cup final.

Mandhana finishes this World Cup with 434 runs, and in all World Cups, she is up to 993 runs.

Mandhana is so strong off her back foot, but sometimes that can be her downfall.

She's gone back to a ball that was a bit full, trying to manipulate the field and play it behind point. She'll be frustrated with that.

    Breakthrough for South Africa!

Smriti Mandhana goes back to cut a slightly shorter ball but manages only to nick behind as Chloe Tryon strikes in her first over. Good catch from Sinalo Jafta.

Frustration for Mandhana, who was starting to look really good, but she's given India a superb start.

    Much-needed wicket for the Proteas.

Just a lovely lofted cover drive from Smriti Mandhana.

  20. Ind 102-0published at 17.2 overs

Smriti Mandhana hits elegantly up and over extra cover for four more. The India opener was in complete control of that.

That brings up the hundred partnership.
