  2. SA 100-2published at 18 overs

    Target 299

Sree Charani rattles through another over in double quick time.

Just a single from the first five but Laura Wolvaardt nails a sweep square to end the over. Four more.

Meanwhile, the TV have just shown Tazmin Brits' run out from earlier and it seems the Proteas opener gave herself more an a metre further to run that she needed to by taking such a long route round the bowler!

It probably cost her her wicket.

Laura Wolvaardt now has more runs in this tournament than any player has ever scored in an edition of the Women’s World Cup. Alyssa Healy’s tally of 509 from 2022 is second.

Another fantastic innings from South Africa's captain, she looks in complete control.

The key will be for others to bat around her and keep the run-rate up while Wolvaardt anchors the innings. South Africa do not quite have the batting depth that India had.

    SA 95-2 | Target 299

Pretty poor cricket all round from India and Laura Wolvaardt capitalises.

A very slow, loopy full toss from Radha Yadav, Wolvaardt thumps it to the right of the long-on fielder and Smriti Mandhana makes a hash of it in the deep.

The ball goes for four and Wolvaardt raises her bat after reaching her 39th ODI fifty from 45 balls.

She gets four more next ball. A bit streaky this time - a thick outside edge as she tries to cut and the ball runs away fine.

Once Sree Charani gets things right, she is such a hard bowler to face.

But as soon as I say that, she fires one leg side. That was a real pie.

  7. SA 84-2published at 16 overs

    Target 299

Just as I was writing about how miserly Sree Charani has been to start her spell, she darts one down leg and Laura Wolvaardt sweeps it past short fine leg for four.

Wolvaardt is up to 47 from 43 balls.

India’s spinners have done a brilliant job at keeping the stumps in play throughout the tournament.

39% of the total deliveries would have hit the stumps, the most of any side and 5% more than the second placed team (Bangladesh - 34%)

    Target 299

Time for drinks and it's India with their noses just in front courtesy of those two quick wickets.

But while Laura Wolvaardt is still there, South Africa will feel they have a chance. They're certainly still well in this final as it stands.

Slashed away through backward point by Sune Luus.

She pounced on the width from Amanjot Kaur in an instant.

Sree Charani has got a rhythm here and has the ball on a piece of string with the way she is controlling the line and length.

  13. SA 71-2published at 14 overs

    Target 299

Sree Charani has started very well here for India.

The left-arm spinner has been superb throughout the World Cup - and did enough to get in your team of the tournament. Just two singles from her latest.

  14. SA 69-2published at 13 overs

    Target 299

Three singles follow in Amanjot Kaur's over and Laura Wolvaardt will keep strike.

The South Africa skipper has now surpassed Alyssa Healy record of 509 runs at a Women's World Cup.

What a tournament she's having. Plenty more to do today, though.

Laura Wolvaardt's putting Amanjot Kaur under some pressure here. Lovely shot from the captain.

    South Africa under pressure?

Laura Wolvaardt is having none of it! She drives brutally down the ground to start Amanjot Kaur's over.

  17. SA 62-2published at 12 overs

Sune Luus is the new batter and tentatively sees off the last ball of Sree Charani's over.

It's not a great shot from Anneke Bosch. She has had a poor tournament; that is a poor shot, and she had a poor day in the field as well.

That is not how you play a spin bowler by going across the ball and missing it.

    Bosch lbw b Charani 0 (SA 62-2)

That is as plumb as it gets.

Sree Charani strikes in her first over and Anneke Bosch is gone for a six-ball duck.

The South Africa number three played all round that, was neither forward nor back, and hit just below the knee-roll in front of middle.

At least Bosch does the decent thing and walks off without reviewing. India are up and about now.

That is the seventh six in this final and it is the most in a women's World Cup final. Laura Wolvaardt has also brought up 500 runs in this World Cup, and the record is 509 by Alyssa Healy in the last World Cup.
