  1. 'Really soft dismissal'published at 20:24 BST 5 September

    Durham 26-1 v Hampshire - target 222

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Really soft dismissal, he's played it straight to him.

David Bedingham is the new batter.

The problem for Durham is that he broke a toe early in the season, then South Africa took hum away, he's not really had a run in the team. He wasn't even initially registered in the team.

    Clark c Currie b Fuller 9 (Durham 26-1, target 222)

James Fuller was promoted ahead of Liam Dawson, teenage debutant Ben Mayes (who had that impressive One-Day Cup group stage campaign) and Benny Howell with the bat. He gets the fourth over.

Brad Wheal is a great yorker bowler, so this makes sense.

His first ball is too short and pulled by Alex Lees for four before he gets a one to tick the strike over

But third ball Graham Clark is caught at deep midwicket by Scott Currie, an easy catch off a lazy flick not middled far enough.

A present South African who is not involved in the ODI series win over England this week, is David Bedingham, in one place higher than his Championship number four.

    Durham 21-0 chasing 222 v Hampshire

The left-arm seam of Chris Wood is turned to by James Vince again for a second over.

We are not seeing any fireworks yet as a stunning moon comes up above the Chester-le-Street stands, both batters going at a run a ball so far.

The final ball would have seen a run out at either end had it hit, but Durham get away with it.

  4. Postpublished at 2 overs

    Durham 12-0 v Hampshire 221

Graham Clark gets a boundary first ball, but both batters then struggle to get their timing quite right off Scotsman Brad Wheal's first over.

An attempted scoop goes horribly wrong for Alex Lees.

A much more sedate start from Durham, but if they have a better middle period than Hampshire with the bat they can still chase this.

They do not have to do as much in the Powerplay, it would be incredible if they did - Hampshire were 89-0 off six overs!

  5. 'Hampshire will feel they are in the box seat'published at 20:14 BST 5 September

    Durham 4-0 v Hampshire - target 222

    Kevan James
Former Middlesex & Hampshire cricketer on BBC Radio Solent

Hampshire will feel they are in the box seat, they will probably feel they left a few runs out there... but you don't get to the knockout stages by chance, Durham are not here by default, they are here because they can play.

  6. Postpublished at 1 over

    Durham 4-0 v Hampshire 221

A quiet start to the chase.

What should have been the fourth legitimate ball was a legside wide from Chris Wood, getting the home side off the mark.

Alex Lees gets off the mark first ball with a back-foot punch, Aussie Hilton Cartwright is on the cover boundary for the lefty and does well to save two.

Durham three ahead of where Hampshire were at this stage!

  7. 'These two got Durham off to a pearler in their last game'published at 20:10 BST 5 September

    Durham 0-0 v Hampshire - target 222

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The target is 222, Hampshire went along at 11.05 an over. If Durham pull this off it will beat the chase against Northants a few weeks ago - that was the first time they had chased a score of over 200.

These two batters put on 181 in that game, getting them off to an absolute pearler.

  8. Durham to chase 222 to winpublished at 20:08 BST 5 September

We saw Jordan Clark start with an incredible first over at the Oval on Wednesday.

Time to see what his brother Graham Clark can do now, facing the first ball of the chase from Chris Wood.

Alex Lees is at the other end for Durham.

  9. Overseas recruitment all the difference so farpublished at 20:07 BST 5 September

Aussies trumping the Kiwis in the first innings

Hampshire replaced their South African group stage star batters with two pretty handy Aussies for this game remember. Both Chris Lynn and Hilton Cartwright notching 50s tonight.

Durham meanwhile don't have their South African Codi Yusuf in their line-up tonight and Jimmy Neesham has had a night to forget so far..

It was surprising to see Neesham and Callum Parkinson both bowl two overs in the powerplay, a massive risk for two of their slowest bowlers to get three overs in with Chris Lynn only having two boundary riders to clear.

Neesham is usually used to close out the innings bowling change-ups, but had 0-44 from his first two overs, ending up just one run off Durham's worst figures ever in this format, 1-62 off his four.

Matt Potts' first over of the match went for one remember.

  10. Postpublished at 20:03 BST 5 September

    Durham v Hampshire 221-8

It's a quick turnaround in these T20 games!

They'll be back out before you know it.

Harry Everett will take you through Durham's innings.

  11. Hampshire's 'fourth highest score'published at 20:01 BST 5 September

    Durham v Hampshire 221-8

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

That is their fourth highest score (in first team professional T20 cricket).

The openers really set the tone, got the visitors off to an absolute flier and set the foundation for what is you'd think a very competitive score.

It will depend a lot on what Durham's top three do I feel, then Neesham has to mentally let go of his bowling and change his mentality to get them over the line with the bat.

WICKET AND END OF INNINGS - DURHAM NEED 222published at 20 overs

    Currie c Neesham Potts 0 Durham v Hampshire 221-8

Matty Potts was the pick of the bowlers and finishes with 2-35 after Scott Currie toe-ends Matty Potts straight to Jimmy Neesham at mid-off.

That's some comeback from 89-0 after six overs and 112-0 after nine.

Toby Albert (68), Hilton Cartwright (61) and Chris Lynn (51) were scintillating but Durham stuck to their task and restricted the Hawks to a total which they will feel they have a sniff of a chance of chasing.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.5 overs

Dawson (run out, Robinson) 1 Durham v Hampshire 221-7

Ben Mayes picks up his first run from his first ball, cutting a short ball from Matty Potts to backward point.

Liam Dawson plays a similar shot to the next ball but pushes for two, and doesn't quite get there, Ollie Robinson whipping off the bails after Colin Ackermann's throw from the deep.

  14. 'The ball was still on it's way up!'published at 19:55 BST 5 September

    Durham v Hampshire 219-6

    Kevan James
Former Middlesex & Hampshire cricketer on BBC Radio Solent

    What a catch!

That is a quick bouncer from Matt Potts, great grab from Ollie Robinson the ball was still on it's way up!

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.3 overs

    Cartwright c Robinson b Potts 61 (Durham v Hampshire 219-6)

Hilton Cartwright carves Matty Potts away to the rope at deep backward point BUT HE GOES TWO BALLS LATER.

He tries to pull away a Matty Potts bouncer but sends a faint edge through to keeper Ollie Robinson who takes a fine catch high above his head.

17-year-old Ben Mayes is in for his debut.. three balls to enjoy!

  16. Postpublished at 19:53 BST 5 September

He felt a little bit short if I am honest.

Half a yard in the end.

Benny Howell has to jog off.

Howell run out 2 (Durham v Hampshire 212-5)

Despairing run and dive from Benny Howell as he tries to keep Hilton Cartwright on strike but he's run out by Graham Clark in the deep from the final ball of the 19th over, an expensive one which cost Durham 18 runs.

Liam Dawson joins Cartwright for the final over.

Matty Potts has been immense in the field lately, now with a sliding stop at long-on to save a couple of runs.

Ben Raine's second ball is slower and a full toss but is carved away past point for a four by Hilton Cartwright to bring up 200.

The next is slammed down the ground, this time beating the dive of Potts and then the next is pulled away for a mighty six over deep square, his fourth. 28 balls it took to get him to the half-century.

  19. Postpublished at 18 overs

    Durham v Hampshire 194-4

A couple of singles finish off Jimmy Neesham's final over. He has 1-62 from four overs, but his first two cost 44.

    11 off that one.

    12 balls to come.

  20. Close to most expensive bowling figurespublished at 19:47 BST 5 September

    Durham v Hampshire 192-4

That is a dot ball for Neesham, which I am sure he is relieved about.

He has two balls left, he is three off the record (63) for the worst ever T20 bowling figures for Durham.
