This is a good start from Australia. With the batting order that they've got, it will be real headache for the New Zealand bowlers, they just keep coming at you, I could name them all.

The key for New Zealand will be damage limitation.

  2. Aus 77-1published at 10.1 overs

A slightly fortuitous boundary after drinks as Beth Mooney goes hard at Lea Tahuhu. The ball comes off the edge of her bat and races away to the boundary for four having flown over the fielder at short third.

  3. How's stat?!published at 15:46 British Summer Time 8 October

Australia have won 13 of their last 15 women’s T20 internationals against New Zealand including their last five in a row.

Apart from those two dropped catches, New Zealand have been pretty good on the field.

  5. drinks break

Australia 69-1 at drinkspublished at 10 overs

    Beth Mooney ups the ante.

She takes a couple of steps down the pitch to Eden Carson and biffs it high over the head of extra cover to pick up a boundary just before drinks,

  6. Aus 60-1published at 9 overs

Australia have been pegged back after their brisk start but are still heavy favourites according to WinViz.

Maddy Green got into such a good position and she's just shelled it.

Terrible drop from Maddy Green, it went straight to her.

  9. dropped catch

Perry dropped on fourpublished at 8.4 overs

Oh dear, an absolute bread-and-butter chance goes down for New Zealand.

Australia all-rounder Ellyse Perry whacks Fran Jonas down the ground and Maddy Green barely has to move. She tried to take the catch above her head, while crouching, and the ball pops out.

Will that prove a costly drop?

  10. Aus 56-1published at 8.3 overs

Here's how Rosemary Mair picked up the wicket of Alyssa Healy a little while ago..

  11. Aus 52-1published at 8 overs

Tidy from New Zealand's spinners as they look to keep things tight.

Five runs milked off Amelia Kerr's first over. Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney yet to cut loose here.

  12. How's stat?!published at 15:33 British Summer Time 8 October

Australia have won their last eight consecutive women’s T20 internationals, winning by at least five wickets or 50 runs in all but one of those victories.

Fran Jonas is holding her nerve here. She needs to get through this over without a boundary. We haven't seen too much turn on this Sharjah wicket, it's more slow and low.

  14. Aus 47-1published at 7 overs

Fran Jonas back into the attack.

The left-arm spinner disappeared for 13 in her first over but is much tighter this time around with four dots.

She hits Ellyse Perry on the pad as the Aussie all-rounder looks to work the ball to leg. There's an appeal from New Zealand but having burned a review earlier they don't send it upstairs.

Australia's batting order is ridiculous, it doesn't get any worse.

Australia are in a really strong position here.

Against Australia it isn't so much about taking wickets, it's about restricting them.

  17. Aus 43-1published at 6 overs

Alyssa Healy has gone, but not after doing some damage. Australia are going at 7.17 runs an over at the moment..

    Tash Farrant
    England bowler on BBC Sounds

Really clever bowling from Rosemary Mair. She held her length back, a bit of an off cutter so Alyssa Healy couldn't get any momentum on the shot.

Alyssa Healy looks annoyed at herself but that's clever bowling from Rosemary Mair.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.2 overs

    Healy c Plimmer b Mair 26 (Aus 41-1)

Alyssa Healy wallops a wide one over point for four, but is gone next ball.

A lot straighter from Rosemary Mair and the Aussie skipper throws the kitchen sink at it, but ends up it skying it high in the air.

The ball comes down with snow on but Georgia Plimmer has a safe pair of hands and pouches the catch.
