If the conditions stay like this, Charlie Dean could be one of the leading wicket-takers at this World Cup. The reason I say that among the England team is Sophie Ecclestone has been about for longer and people will respect her. She will take wickets, but people will go after off spinners like Charlie Dean.

  3. Ban 17-1published at 4 overs

After her first ball passed for a wide, new batter Sobhana Mostary sees out four dot balls to finish Dean's over.

Every ball feels like an event, you knew the first wicket wasn't far away. Bangladesh are so sweep heavy, bowlers like Linsey Smith and Charlie Dean you can't sweep. They'll soon learn. Not even England's batters want to sweep them, it is instinctive though.

    Dilara lbw b Dean 6 (Ban 16-1)

Charlie Dean strikes with her second ball!

Dilara attempts a sweep and Dean's off-break hits her on the pad right in front of the stumps.

Up goes the umpire's finger, no point in reviewing that.

  6. Ban 16-0published at 3 overs

    Oooof, close.

DIlara clips Sciver-Brunt away towards mid-wicket, Alice Capsey makes ground running to her right but isn't quite close enough with her dive.

That single brings back Shathi, and she turns the ball away to the square-leg boundary, where it's chased by Charlie Dean, tipping the ball back as she dives over the ropes. The umpires take an absolute age, then decide it's just two.

No matter, Shathi gets her four from the following delivery, top-edging over the keeper.

Linsey Smith gets the ball on that shiny side and it just skids on. She bowls very stump to stump, you can't sweep Linsey. England are going for it knowing Bangladesh love to sweep.

  8. Ban 7-0published at 2 overs

No more senior seamers in the team, it's left-arm spinner Linsey Smith at the other end for England.

Dilara guides her delivery for two past the keeper then steals an extra run from a wide delivery.

Natalie's expression, she is fuming. She didn't expect it to do that much, neither did I. It was a decent review in the end. Given in full, it was worth a little shout. Heather Knight doesn't have the best of records.

    Ban 3-0

Missing leg stump, seemed rather hopeful.

Dilara guides the final ball of the over down to third for a single.

They've gone for it. If there's even a nip backer, you want the umpire's call but she didn't get it.

    Ban 2-0

Sciver-Brunt hits Dilara Akter on the pad as she tries to clip into the leg side.

Looks like it's heading down the leg side to me, but Heather Knight decides to have a look.

Nat Sciver-Brunt will open the bowling for England, one slip in.

Shathi Rani offers a solid defence to the first delivery of the innings.

Bangladesh's spinners found plenty of success slowing it against England's batters, it'll be interesting to see if England's spin attack follow suit during the chase.

    • Gibson wicket - 72 kph (prev ball 76kph)
    • Capsey wicket - 69 kph (prev ball 73 kph)

    Thanks Tim, hello there.

Bangladesh scored 119 in their first fixture against Scotland.

Do that again, they win this match.

Hmmm, I'd have Bangladesh as favourites. 'Low-scoring classic', anyone?

Here's Mike Peter to take you through the Bangladesh run chase.

England definitely would have wanted to get some more runs. Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Maia Bouchier were brilliant at the top. England were so focussed on going over the off side, they missed out on so many singles and twos through the vacant left side. They could've got up to the 120/130 mark. England, with their spin attack, are probably still favourites.

  18. Eng 118-7published at 20 overs

Ecclestone scrambles a two from the final delivery and England's innings is over.

England are some way short of what they would have liked, while Bangladesh were excellent. Now they need to match that with the bat.

Brilliant bowling from Ritu Moni, she's been on fire tonight. She's just been able to hit that perfect length time and time again. Joty, the Bangladesh skipper, has been really clinical behind the stumps.
