I'm wondering whether it held in the surface as well as in the air.

It looked like his timing was a fraction slow and he's ended up chipping it up.

He looked like he was back in good touch there Duckett - just mistimed that pull.

    South Africa make the breakthrough.

Ben Duckett's last innings of the international summer comes to an end, his mistimes a pull off Corbin Bosch and sees the ball spiral into the air in the leg side.

Aiden Markram takes a comfortable catch at mid-wicket.

That shot from Jamie Smith feels like the sort of shot only a tall player can play - he seemed to just swat it away.

South Africa are bowling to two very different batters here - Jamie Smith who stands tall and swats it away and Duckett who's shorter and will cut them.

It's tricky for the bowlers, and good to see Duckett with a bit of momentum.

More boundaries for England, as their openers send Corbin Bosch's first and last balls over the ropes.

Jamie Smith brings up England's 50 from 49 balls, striking off the back foot through long-on, before Ben Duckett cuts through point.

More favourable batting conditions early on today, with bowlers finding just 0.6° of seam movement on average compared to 0.9° in the first five overs at Lord's.

Have a feeling this is going to be a Duckett day, hopefully not spoken to soon, but still stand by we have the most destructive batting line-up in the world.

A first change for South Africa as Corbin Bosch replaces Nandre Burger.

The seamer had an excellent day at Lord's, taking 1-38 off 10 overs with England only managing four singles and a leg bye off his first four.

He doesn't start quite so well today - Ben Duckett picks up two boundaries off the over, beating a diving fielder with a cut through point and then powering through mid-wicket.

Another four for Jamie Smith, turning Codi Yusuf's delivery away off his legs for a fourth four for his tally.

He's on 17 from 14 balls at the end of the over.

Jamie Smith will naturally score quickly.

He scores quick enough without having to try.

In one-day cricket he's sometimes tried to force it.

If he just plays the ball on his own merit, England have a guy at the top of their order who can dominate and score big.

What is the point in playing this line-up in a dead rubber? We're not going to learn anything, and the series is gone. We should have picked Rehan as one of the all-rounders and given Baker another go. We've talked Sonny up pre-series and then binned him after one game.

England continue to tick along quite nicely, with Jamie Smith driving through the covers again off Nandre Burger.

The outfield is a little slow but the ball just about reaches the boundary.

Three consecutive fours for England, as Ben Duckett sends Codi Yusuf's first ball through backward square.

He adds another boundary later in the over, striking to the point ropes.

And just to make a further point about Baker - I'm not sure he can claim masses of home advantage at Hampshire having moved there this season.

He's played three first-classes matches and a trio of T20 Blast games at Southampton earlier in the summer, plus a Hundred game in 2022.

He's yet to feature here in 50-over cricket.

Jonathan Agnew did say he would have played Baker at Lord's.

In answer to Fenners, it sounds like England are wary of their position in the rankings and its impact on their World Cup qualification. Baker has been left out today because they don't feel they're in a position to experiment.

Fenners: Why not play Sonny Baker on his home ground? The series is lost already, so why keep the bowling attack that conceded 330 at Lord's plus Overton? Mind-blowing. Was an ideal chance to play Baker. This is what's so frustrating about England.

    Glorious shot.

Jamie Smith doesn't ever need to overhit - he's such a powerful batsman.

    Great control.
