A great shot from Kohli, it went up and over the umpire. He just lofted the ball.

  3. 6 runs

    Ind 33-1published at 4.4 overs

    Hello!

Naveen-ul-Haq is into the attack and Virat Kohli clatters his fourth ball back down the ground for the first six of the match.

A remarkable strike, just raw forearm power as he flat bats it over the bowler's head.

  4. Ind 25-1published at 4 overs

    Kohli 7, Pant 7

Virat Kohli backs away, looking to cut Mohammad Nabi, but that ball is far too close to him and he's perhaps lucky not to nick off.

Another nervy looking shot as Kohli skies a sweep shot but that lands safely and he gets back for four.

A calmer tuck off his hip to mid-wicket sees Kohli take one to keep the strike.

Much better over for India there, nine from it.

Rishabh Pant is showing a clear message of aggression and intent.

  6. Ind 20-1published at 3.2 overs

    Sound the 'rare three' klaxon.

Rishabh Pant drives Mohammad Nabi through the covers, the ball holds up in the outfield but the India batters scurry three runs.

Pant has been busy and bustling to begin his innings.

  7. Ind 16-1published at 3 overs

On replay, that was a very fine slower ball by Farooqi that completely deceived Rohit.

That takes the Afghanistan left-armer on to 13 wickets for the tournament.

He rather spoils an otherwise fine over with a wide to new batter Rishabh Pant before sliding another down leg that the India wicketkeeper deftly flicks away to the fence.

Rohit Sharma was looking to go down the ground and it's come off the very bottom of his bat. A huge wicket for Afghanistan.

A very important catch and a crucial strike for Afghanistan.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.5 overs

    Rohit c Rashid b Farooqi 8 (Ind 11-1)

    Huge moment!

India captain Rohit Sharma looks to break the shackles by launching Fazalhaq Farooqi down the ground but can only heave it straight up off the toe end of his bat.

Afghanistan opposite number Rashid Khan steadies himself at mid-on and pouches it safely. Rohit looks glumly at the bottom of his bat and trudges off.

The early pressure tells. Afghanistan on fire in the powerplay so far.

  11. Ind 11-0published at 2.4 overs

Virat Kohli does finally get off the mark with a guided single down to third man.

  12. Ind 10-0published at 2.3 overs

Virat Kohli again picks out a fielder and can't get off the mark.

  13. Not outpublished at 2.1 overs

Yep, that pitched outside leg stump. Not out.

Good decision by umpire Paul Reiffel.

    Afghanistan lose a review.

  14. Afghanistan reviewpublished at 2.1 overs

Huge lbw appeal by left-armer Fazalhaq Farooqi against Rohit Sharma from over the wicket.

    Not given.

    Afghanistan send it upstairs.

All depends on where it pitched...

A great start for Nabi. I love spinners in the powerplay. A quick over with two runs coming off the bat creates pressure on the opposition.

  16. Ind 8-0published at 2 overs

Virat Kohli gets off strike, but without scoring, as the ball deflects away for a leg bye.

Rohit Sharma picks up another single.

Kohli can only tap the final delivery straight back to Mohammad Nabi.

A superb over - just three from it.

  17. Ind 6-0published at 1.2 overs

Mohammad Nabi to bowl the second over.

Rohit Sharma sweeps the second ball for a single and that brings Virat Kohli on strike.

Kohli struggled during the first group stage and was dismissed for a golden duck against USA.

A good start for Afghanistan, Fazalhaq Farooqi is showing his class. I've been really impressed with them and their spinners being so hard to read.

  19. Ind 5-0published at 1 over

First boundary as a thick edge off Rohit Sharma's bat flies past a diving Hazratullah Zazai at short third and away to the fence.

Zazai perhaps should've done better, it went through his hands.

A single to finish as Rohit retains the strike. Decent first over by Fazalhaq Farooqi.
