The openers for Afghanistan have been brilliant. But when you get to the Super 8s and play these world class teams the weaknesses really start to show.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.4 overs

    Zadran c Rohit b Axar 8 (Afg 23-2)

    He can't!

There's no dropping that - Zadran drives straight to captain Rohit Sharma at cover, who doesn't have to move and takes the simplest of catches in front of his face.

  4. Afg 23-1published at 3 overs

    Target 182

Couple of singles to end Arshdeep's second over.

Can Zadran take advantage of his let off?

  5. dropped catch

Zadran dropped on sixpublished at 2.4 overs

    Afg 21-1

Zadran should be walking back to the pavilion!

The Afghan batter slashes Arshdeep for four between backward point and third, then from the following delivery cuts uppishly straight towards Virat Kohli in the former position.

It should be an easy take above the head, but the ball pops out of his hands and Afghanistan take a single.

If there's anything in the pitch at all, Bumrah will get it.

Their will be an air of caution for Afghanistan now. They rely heavily on their openers to go hard.

Bumrah is a dangerous bowler and it was poor batting from Gurbaz.

Bumrah has done the job and gets the early strike after that bright start from the Afghan opener.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.2 overs

    Gurbaz c Pant b Bumrah 11 (Afg 13-1)

    Another big swing... edges behind!

Silly shot from Gurbaz, backing off for room but then swinging wildly for a ball well outside off from Bumrah. He's stretching and out of control, and can only knick behind to Rishabh Pant.

    A massive blow for Afghanistan.

Gurbaz tries to angle the ball past the third fielder but Bumrah cuts it off there.

    Good start from Afghanistan.

  14. 6 runs

    Afg 12-0published at 0.5 overs

A shuffle down the ground then clubbed over the long-on boundary!

    Gurbaz absolutely walloped that, baseball-style.

Gurbaz likes to take the game on, we know he's going to go hard in the powerplay. It's what he does so well.

  16. Afg 5-0published at 0.1 overs

    And away we go!

Arshdeep Singh starts the Afghan innings with a wide, before offering up one in the slot from Rahmanullah Gurbaz to slap straight for a one-bounce four.

Gurbaz started the tournament well with scores of 76 and 80, but went for 11 and 0 in his last two outings.

    Thanks Jack.

That's right, I'll answer any question you have. Who's going to win the tournament? What's the meaning of life? How exactly did ITV ruin The Bill post-2002?

    All within my wheelhouse.

A first T20 win over India for Afghanistan?

An assured bowling display by India to secure a convincing win?

    Something in the middle?

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan led the way with 3-26 but left-arm fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi also struck three times.

He's already the leading wicket-taker in the tournament so far and now has 15 victims.

India batter Suryakumar Yadav: "That is what I have practised and done a lot of match visualisation for. I like batting in the phase from overs 7-15 because that is where teams try to make it tricky so I like to take control."

On what he thought when Virat Kohli got out: "I started chewing my gum even harder! I knew how to bat in that phase and with the left-hander coming in it got a bit easier, but I just backed my game."

On their total of 181-8: "It's a good total. I am very happy with it. Let's see what happens."
