That's it for tonight - and that's it for the group phase of this year's Premier League.

But Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and tonight's winner Michael Smith.

Thanks for joining us. We'll be back next week when the 2024 Premier League champion will be crowned! You don't want to miss it!

  2. 'I had nothing left after the quarters'published at 23:02 British Summer Time 16 May

Night 16 winner Michael Smith, speaking to Sky Sports: "It does feel good. Coming into the semi-finals I thought I had nothing left. I thought I'd lose 6-0.

"But Luke Littler tried a clever finish on the bull in the semi and that annoyed me and I went from there."

On qualifying for the play-offs: "I knew what I was doing! I think I was on 10 points after three weeks and if I got another 10 points in the next three or four, I'd be OK but it didn't work out that way.

"I sat back on my laurels but the last two weeks I've really pushed through. I cried more after the quarter-final then I did when I won the Worlds."

On beating good friend Nathan Aspinall: "I wanted to celebrate and run around after winning but because it was Nathan I just couldn't.

"I did a little bit after the 132 but that deserved it! I'm glad it was me if anyone was going to knock him out because I want him with me in the last four."

On focusing again after reaching top four: "I think the fixtures were the wrong way round. I thought Luke Littler should have gone on third because he could win the league, then me on fourth.

"After those games it felt like the night was over."

On the play-offs: "Next week is what matters. Luke [Humphries] and [Luke] Littler won't think about tonight.

"We're just hanging onto their coattails and hoping we can get the odd win.

"Tuesday is when the focus starts. I need to go back to 2020, that when I was enjoying my darts the most."

Michael Smith needed to win his quarter-final to make the play-offs. He did that and has gone on to win the night!

He came so close to doing it with a 170 out but missed the bull.

Luke Humphries then had a dart at bull for the leg, he missed too and Bully Boy came back to hit double 10 for the win.

The Premier League started with Smith winning in Cardiff, the league phase ends with him triumphing in Sheffield.

This is turning into a cracker!

Michael Smith levels it up with an excellent leg. After a 180 gives him the chance, he takes out 96 superbly.

In between, Luke Humphries was the wrong side of the wire on the double five for a 140. It could so easily be 4-2.

    Michael Smith 1-2 Luke Humphries

More less than clinical finishing. This time from Michael Smith.

He misses six darts at double before Luke Humphries is able to steal in for the break.

The world champion misses double 18 twice but hits double nine takes the lead.

  13. Humphries holdspublished at 22:40 British Summer Time 16 May

    Michael Smith 1-1 Luke Humphries

Luke Humphries responds to draw level.

He's far enough ahead that he can afford a bit of sloppiness on the doubles.

Double one gets the job done before Michael Smith can properly threaten.

    Luke Humphries v Michael Smith

    Wayne Mardle
Former World Championship semi-finalist on Sky Sports

I'm expecting Luke Humphries to get the win and make it five nightly wins. He's been the best player in the Premier League.

Humphries is the player to beat. He becomes even more difficult to beat over the longer format. The other players are up and down and Humphries is the only player that isn't.

It will come down to fine margins though, it always does in the Premier League. That is unless one of them runs riot and the only one likely to do that is Humphries for me.

  20. Postpublished at 22:20 British Summer Time 16 May

Result: Luke Humphries 6-3 Michael van Gerwen

A really high quality match ends with both players averaging over 100.

Luke Humphries had the edge over Michael van Gerwen, 104.1 to 101.55.

Cool Hand had four 180s to MVG's two and was superb on the doubles as well.

He hit six of eight - 75% - compared to Mighty Mike's three of six.
