Rob Cross is managing to hold off Michael van Gerwen for now.

The Dutchman is averaging 120 but Cross is clinical in his finishing, taking out 86 in two darts.

If MVG's scoring stays at this level though, it will be incredibly tough to keep him at bay for much longer.

    Excellent from Michael van Gerwen.

It's another fantastic scoring leg from the Dutchman and this time he adds the finish.

One dart at double 16 is all he needs to level this one up.

Michael van Gerwen seems to be trying out some new darts, a different model.

They do well for him, right up until he gets down to the doubles. But he misses tops then double 10 and is made to pay.

Michael van Gerwen v Rob Cross

Michael van Gerwen talking to Sky Sports: "It doesn't matter as long as you qualify. Of course you want to be top of the table but that isn't possible so you just want to qualify and you can say 'mission accomplished' and it is as simple as that.

"You just want to play as comfortable as possible. I might try some new things tonight so you never know. There isn't really a lot at stake but I still want to win the night, it is as simple as that.

"There have been a lot of ups and downs but that is my story at the moment, we've seen it on the European Tour as well. You need to work on your own game and you can only do that yourself."

Rob Cross fought back to beat world number one Luke Humphries 8-6 to land the Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel, Germany on Sunday.

A stunning nine-dart finish from Humphries had seen him move into a 5-3 lead but Cross rallied, taking five of the next six legs to win his second PDC European Tour title.

It means Humphries finishes as runner-up at the event for the second year running.

The last quarter-final of the evening - and of this Premier League season, sees Michael van Gerwen up against Rob Cross.

Mighty Mike lost last week's final to Luke Humphries but did enough to book his place at finals night.

He is eyeing a record-extending eighth Premier League crown and the fact he has four nightly wins this year without ever quite being at his best, shows how dangerous he is.

Meanwhile, Rob Cross' return to form has come to late for him to make the top four.

He reached successive finals, in weeks 13 and 14, but lost to Luke Littler each time but being thumped 6-1 by Luke Humphries in the quarters last week.

However, he got his revenge on Humphries in Baltic Sea Darts Open and will want to continue his fine form before bowing out of his year's Premier League.

Result: Luke Humphries 6-4 Gerwyn Price

It felt like that swung from the sublime to the ridiculous - I'm thinking about that sixth leg in particular - for Luke Humphries.

He ends with a 93.83 average, two 180s but just a 28.6% checkout percentage after hitting only six of 21 on the outer ring.

Meanwhile, Gerwyn Price's Premier League campaign ends in defeat after averaging 91.19 with three maximums and 36.4% on the doubles.

Luke Humphries is through to another semi-final!

The world champion so nearly did it with a 170 out but he couldn't quite reel in the big fish.

In the end he needs four more darts to finish the job but finish it he does.

He remains in with a shot of a record fifth nightly win.

  16. Humphries one away...published at 20:40 British Summer Time 16 May

    Luke Humphries 5-4 Gerwyn Price

Luke Humphries not as clinical as he'd like on the outer ring and it gives Gerwyn Price a chance.

However, the Welshman can't capitalise as he misses double 18 then double nine.

Humphries returns to hit tops and is now a leg from the last four.

    Luke Humphries 4-4 Gerwyn Price

    We're all square again.

An off leg for Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price takes advantage for a very comfortable hold.

He hits double 12 at the second attempt to level it a four legs apiece.

  18. Three in a row for Humphriespublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 16 May

    Luke Humphries 4-3 Gerwyn Price

Luke Humphries has fought back and now he leads!

After the debacle on the doubles in the previous leg, there is no messing this time around.

A superb 138 set-up leaves him tops. One dart is all he needs and he's now two legs from the semi-finals.

  19. Humphries breaks... eventuallypublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 16 May

    Luke Humphries 3-3 Gerwyn Price

Luke Humphries does break back but only after giving Gerwyn Price an excellent chance to steal the hold!

It comes down to double one but, with his eighth dart at double in the leg, he hits it to level it up.

    He'll be relieved about that.
