I'm going to start with Michael Smith's stats here because it is worth pointing out that he didn't play badly.

An average of 97.85, two 180s, five 140-plus visits and 100% on the doubles.

And yet... he was blown away by Luke Littler.

That was a blistering battering of Bully Boy by The Nuke. That is pretty much as good as it gets in the Premier League.

    Michael Smith 1-6 Luke Littler

Well, that didn't take long! What a performance from Luke Littler.

It's a fairly normal leg to finish it, double 10 hit and Littler marches on.

Although that was less of a march and more of a sprint. Six legs won in less than 10 minutes.

    What a talent he is.

Luke Littler is just too hot. He's too good.

He's not up on the stage for long enough for my liking. I want him up on that stage for an hour.

It's blink-and-you'll-miss-it stuff from Luke Littler as he races towards another checkout.

    Stunning.

Michael Smith has got to realise that he's got to up his game here.

He has had his way against Luke Littler generally so far but the teenager is rampant so far tonight.

It doesn't look like Littler is competing at the top level the way he goes about it. It is like he's painting a fence.

A longer than usual break between the quarters and the semis due to Gerwyn Price withdrawing earlier in the day, so the crowd have had a little longer to get refreshments.

    OK then, it's semi-final time!

An all-English last four probably isn't what the fans in Scotland wanted but they're still making plenty of noise.

All of which means, this is how the last four ties look. We'll have to wait a little longer for a first look at Luke Humphries tonight, he goes in the second semi...

Michael van Gerwen averaged 108.33 and lost! Remarkable.

Rob Cross was just a shade under 100 at 99.94, he had two 180s to MVG's three.

Mighty Mike also had the edge on the doubles. He was five from 11 (45.5%) on checkouts, Cross was six of 14 (42.9%).

That might be as well as Michael van Gerwen has played all year - and somehow he's lost.

That could be a huge result in the battle for the top four.

Michael Smith will be delighted, he has already gained on his two main rivals for the play-offs and could leapfrog them both before the night is out.

    Breaking

Michael van Gerwen 5-6 Rob Cross

Rob Cross has beaten Michael van Gerwen for the third time this year in the Premier League!

Voltage gets himself to a checkout superbly with a 180 followed by a 140 but when he misses two darts at double 16, MVG has a sniff.

Another shot at 167... again the Dutchman is just off going for the bullseye.

Cross misses two more at double before hitting double four to seal the win.
