After exchanging 180s, it becomes about who is the more clinical finisher.

Another missed double for Luke Littler but this one doesn't prove costly.

Nathan Aspinall is well back in the 200s so despite a decent set-up, he needs another Littler slip up.

    Luke Littler v Nathan Aspinall

After getting roundly booed in Liverpool last week - on his way to victory, I should add - it is a much warmer welcome for Luke Littler.

Still, perhaps only Michael van Gerwen can come close to matching Nathan Aspinall for a walk-on song that gets the crowd going.

Aspinall plays conductor once again as they sing along to Mr Brightside. Even Littler gets involved at one stage.

  17. Littler 'a pain in the backside'published at 19:48 British Summer Time 2 May

    Luke Littler v Nathan Aspinall

Nathan Aspinall talking to Sky Sports: "Last week against Luke Littler was the first time I've been nervous in the Premier League and it was probably because I knew if I'd won I'd be in the play-offs. I feel fresh and there are no nerves whatsoever. They are chasing me - it is always better to be at the top rather than the bottom like Smithy."

On Luke Littler: "He's a pain in the backside. He's doing my head in. I shouldn't have lost last week. It was maybe because I haven't beat him as much as I should have. Hopefully I can get the job done tonight and enjoy the last two weeks."

  18. 'Littler can be best ever if he doesn't get bored'published at 19:47 British Summer Time 2 May

Luke Littler is a "different animal" and has the potential to become the best player in darts history "if he doesn’t get too bored", says rival Peter Wright.

The 17-year-old was the World Championship runner-up at the start of the year and won the Austrian Open - his second European Tour title - at the weekend.

Littler has now lost only one of his 14 matches on the tour.

Two-time world champion Wright regularly faced Phil Taylor, who is widely regarded as greatest player of all time, but believes Littler could eclipse him.

“If he wants to do it, he could," the Scot said. "But we don’t know what his plan is. He could play for another five years and say ‘that’s it, I have earned enough’.

"He has shaken up the sport. You see him in the back room and his routine is about five minutes practice. Maybe that's what we are all doing wrong - practising too much and wearing ourselves out.”

Luke Littler is playing the best darts right now. Luke Humphries has gone a little bit off the boil.

Littler is having the rub of the green and a bit of luck and to win things you need that.

The second quarter-final sees a repeat of a thrilling semi-final in Liverpool last week, when Luke Littler came roaring back from 5-2 down to beat Nathan Aspinall 6-5.

Littler went on to secure his third nightly win and sits top of the table. His place at finals night is not officially confirmed yet but it would take a remarkable run of results to deny him.

Meanwhile, Aspinall is up to third but still has work to do to cement his top-four spot.

He won in Rotterdam on night 12 - his second nightly win of the year - and has only gone out in the quarters once in the last seven weeks, making three finals.

Another run to the final tonight would go a long way to getting him to the O2 in three weeks' time.
