In what could be the final leg of Joe Comito's run at this World Championship, Joe Comito misses out on his third 180 of the night by a whisker.

To a fourth-set deciding leg we go!

  2. Tricole closes in on victorypublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 2-1 Comito (2-1)

More consistency from Thibault Tricole in the third leg of set four, which he starts by going 140, 140, 139.

Joe Comito falls behind with a couple of trebleless visits, giving Tricole time to take the leg.

Having missed one dart at double 16 and another on the eights, Tricole moves within one leg of the second round on double four.

  3. Comito levels up set set fourpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 2-1 Comito (1-1)

On 94, Comito is clinical. 18, treble 20, double eight.

1-1 in this fourth set and we really have a game on our hands now.

Joe Comito is on a roll!

In the first leg of the fourth set, Comito fires his second 180 of the match to set up a 170 out.

The Australian, much to his disappointment, goes trebleless on his next visit, but is boosted by Thibault Tricole missing doubles 20, 10 and five.

Comito almost breaks throw with a 112 finish, narrowly missing double 20.

Tricole holds throw on double one, showing very little pleasure at it.

Tricole has rushed a few darts in this match and while Comito has never played in an atmosphere like this, he is well and truly back in it.

  6. Comito wins third setpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 2-1 Comito (0-0)

Joe Comito is very much enjoying himself. In a set-deciding and potentially match-deciding leg, he puts two darts in treble 20, takes a very long pause and gets the crowd cheering for him to take out the third.

Does he take it? No. The pantomime villain fires a single 19 and laughs while apologising to the crowd.

Comito then takes the set with a 52 out, ending on double 20.

A blow to Thibault Tricole and on we go.

  7. Tricole levels third setpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 2-0 Comito (2-2)

Thibaut Tricole was in danger of dropping a set, but on his throw, fires his second 180 of the set to take command of the fourth leg.

Joe Comito then emulates Tricole with one missed dart at the same double before Tricole finishes it off to level the set.

  8. Comito leads after 13-dart legpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

Very plucky darts from Joe Comito.

It is lucky 13 for Comito, finishing off on double four.

  9. Comito breaks backpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 2-0 Comito (1-1)

It feels like now or never for Joe Comito, who is left with a bull finish to take out 130.

It misses both bull and the 25, despite Comito hitting bull when he didn't mean to in the previous leg.

Comito does return to take out 43 on double 10 and break Thibault Tricole's throw to level the set.

  10. Tricole breaks throw in third setpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 2-0 Comito (1-0)

Thibault Tricole, kicking on from his 118 checkout at the end of the last set, has gone one better, taking out his first 180 of the night.

Much like Joe Comito did in the last set to celebrate, a big point to the crowd, a smile and plenty of cheer from the crowd.

Without the darts to start, three 18s from Tricole leave him on tops when he returns.

Joe Comito comes close to a 65 finish, but misses double four. Tricole only needs one dart at double 20 to break throw and lead this third set.

An even match, but Tricole has been clinical enough when required.

  13. Tricole wins second set with 118 finishpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 2-0 Comito (0-0)

Thibault Tricole, frustrated after letting Joe Comito back into this set, bosses the fifth and final leg of this set.

With 118 to go, Tricole finishes off the leg and wins the set in professional fashion. A single 18 precedes treble 20 and then double 20.

Comfortably the checkout of the match so far and the most convincing Tricole has looked on the doubles.

Tricole is now one set away from reaching the second round and a meeting with Luke Humphries.

Taking out the second leg in this second set, Thibault Tricole showed good composure, after dropping his dart to take out double eight.

There is plenty of confidence from the "French Touch" as he looks to take out 72 with two double 16s. On his first visit, he finds one of them, but the second visit is unsuccessful.

Joe Comito bounces back, finishing up 58 on double 10.

  16. What height should a dartboard be?published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

Here's a question a few of you have asked, so we consulted the official rules.

Standard height from the floor to the bullseye on the dartboard is 5 feet 8 inches (1.72 metres), while the oche (distance between the front of the board and the toeline) should measure 7ft 9.25 ins.

That's a fair old way when you're under pressure.

  17. Tricole breaks throw after Comito 180published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 1-0 Comito (2-0)

We have the first 180 of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship from Joe Comito. A huge smile and point to the sky from him to celebrate and the Alexandra Palace crowd are overjoyed.

His next dart going into single one brings his mood down a bit, but he recovers well to set up three darts to take out at 38.

He laid up to go at double 16, which he misses out on, as well as the double eight with his final dart.

Tricole punishes him, taking out 94 to break Comito's throw and go 2-0 ahead.

  18. Tricole holds throwpublished at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

A tense start to this second leg from both men, who were frustrated after seeing a few darts stray right into single or treble ones.

A brilliant 121 from Thibaut Tricole sets up three darts at double 11. A bold move, he goes to split it, hits single 10 and misses double six and double three.

Joe Comito misses a chance of a break of throw at 123, with Tricole coming back to take out double three.

  19. First set statspublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 1-0 Comito (0-0)

Thibault Tricole had the lower average of the two men in that first set, averaging 76.79 to Joe Comito's 79.9

The big difference came in finishing. Tricole took out three of his 10 darts at a double. Comito had 11, but only finished off one.

Both men had six scores above 100, but we are still waiting for the first 180 of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship.

  20. Tricole takes first setpublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December

    Tricole 1-0 Comito (0-0)

Joe Comito misses more darts at double 20 and as he did earlier in the set, fails to take out after a good set-up.

Thibault Tricole matches Comito with missed darts at double 20, before Comito misses doubles 20, 10 and five.

Tricole makes Comito pay, finishing up on double 10 to take the opening set, much to the Frenchman's relief.
